——TPO 4:阅读和听力争论的焦点是恐龙是不是恒温动物,基于三个方面:climate change, leg position and movement and Haversian canals
——TPO10: 这篇谈及的是:whether does the number of sea otters decline attributes to the pollution, their predators and survival location
In the aspects of adaptation, economic lucrativeness, and environmental value, genetically modified trees never have overwhelming advantage over natural trees. First, genetic modification doesn’t necessarily make a natural tree more resistant to environmental adversities. Although genetic reconstructing may make a species stronger in a specific condition as the reading indicates, the new strain lakes the genetic diversity of a natural species. Thanks to the marginal differences
between individuals, there can always be some survivors among natural species following a large interruption like climate change or pest invasion. But similar changes may cause the distinction of a genetically modified species for their unification in characteristics.
In some cases, chances are good that people have dreams that are both challenging and practical. However, sometimes one has to choose between them. So here is the question, should we carry on dreams that you may face many adventures or ones that are easier to achieve. In my point of view, this should be discussed case by case.
Firstly, people who are under difficult situations should keep more practical dreams. They may be forced by the pressure from their families or themselves, so it is wise for them to choose the easier dream, which can bring more benefits to their lives. For example, my friend Tom is very talented in painting. Unfortunately, his family was too poor to afford expensive tuitions and instruments for painting. So he was forced to give up the dream of being a painter and chose a job to paint walls for others. Because of his talent in painting, he did very well in this job and became well known soon. Thanks to this job, he ran his own company in the end. Now his is very successful in his field. In this case, Tom did not insist on the impossible dream and gained a lot of benefits according to more practical plans. So such choices are more suitable for this kind of people.
Secondly, people who are really interested in certain field should insist on their dreams though sometimes such dreams may be difficult to achieve.
To be the top of the field needs a lot of hard work, and many challenges may be met during the process. For instance, when Steve Jobs took over the nearly bankrupt apple, he had almost nothing but ideals. However, he was not afraid of such difficulties and made his dream come true by producing i-pods and i-phones, which hit it big across the globe and set the company back on top. And Beethoven did not give up his dreams when he nearly lost his hearing in his later life, and composed several masterpieces, including the famous Symphony Nine. In this case, challenging dreams gave them more impetus and inspired them to persist. Without such dreams that need really hard work to make them true, they may not survive such difficult conditions and become the most successful people in their fields.
In the sum, different people may have different attitudes towards dreams. The wiser way to choose dreams is to choose ones that are more suitable for them.
