I will definitely choose a career. To me, a job is just a temporary work. In the beginning, I may feel it’s new and interesting. I can make new friends and learn quite a lot of things from it. However, as time goes by, once I find myself stuck in a job which does not interest me any more, my career on this job would end. I may go find another job that satisfy my needs, but it will probably end up like the last one. Choosing a career is different. Career means that something you want to build on your interest. By choosing a career, I think I will be fascinated and excited about my work, especially when I see it developing. It is a great feeling to see your long-term effort paying you off in the future. Most importantly, a career not only gives me a job, but also the personal satisfaction as well.
02Some people believe that the high school should teach music and art as other basic science. Some people think that providing music and art education for high school students is not necessary. What is your opinion and why?
I bet no one could deny the fact that the main responsibility of a high school is to help its students develop academic abilities. But for a student himself, it is also very important to get fully educated in other fields like music and art as well as basic science. Music and art can help the students appreciate the beauty in our lives and that will also increase the efficiency of their basic science study.and on the other hand, research has shown that music and art develop the right part of the brain which often influences one's emotions,and nowadays people talk more and more about the importance of EQ,so i believe providing music and art education for high school students is absolutely necessary.
03Do you agree or disagree: Students should wear uniform in school? Please include specific details and examples in your opinion.
I definitely agree to the statement that students should wear uniforms in school. The school uniform is usually neat and tidy. It could provide an unified image of the school. And if the students have some activities outside school like taking a picnic for instance, uniform allows the teacher to recognize his/her students much easier. Besides wearing uniform will avoid the comparison among students about clothes. So that the students could be more concentrated on study.
04Some people think that it’s necessary to prohibit people from using phone calls in some places. Others believe that it’s inconvenient if phone calls are forbidden in some places. Which opinion do you prefer? Explain why. Your statement should include specific examples and details.
I think it’s necessary to forbid using cellphones in some areas. For example in classes or meetings, the ringing is very disturbing. Although you may mute your cellphones , it will distract you from classes thus reduce your study efficiency. And sometimes it’s impolite to use a cellphone in some public occasion such as important conferences. Furthermore, the microwave radiation of a cellphone will disturb the normal operating of special machines in some places such as hospital and laboratory. So forbidding using a cellphone in some places is good for you as well as the people around you.
05Whether the government should assist to build museum and theater? Give your opinion and
include specific examples and details in your explanation.
I definitely agree with that government should help build artistic places such as museums and theatres. For one thing, these types of places are excellent for promoting appreciation for art. It can help us to regain the passion for beauty and depth in life, which is much better than being an internet addict or a couch potato. Furthermore, visiting museums and theatres will help understand much better in history and art, which will in turn benefit enhancing the culture. So I support that the government should invest money to build more museums and theatres.
06Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Please explain your opinion. People should always tell the truth.
I'm not saying that people should lie to get what they want,but I don’t’ agree with that people should always tell the truth, because sometimes lying doesn’t definitely mean to harm others and is even necessary. For example, if you are taking care of a patient suffering from a serious illness, it’s important to give the patient hope, in such case, in order to help the patient to release psychological pressure, modest lying is useful. Another example is in business or politics, people always adopt acceptable lies as negotiation strategy to win more benefits for their own. So not telling the truth is ok and sometimes helpful.
07Some people tend to judge a person on the basis of first observation. Some people believe it takes a long time to know a person well. Which approach to knowing people do you think is better and why?
I don’t think it’s reliable to judge a person by the first glance. Firstly, appearance doesn’t represent all. The information of a person you can get from a glance is very limited. You can’t tell many things just from the appearance, such as the past, hobbies, eating habits and so on. Furthermore, appearance lies, it may trick you. What you can get is partial, which may even lead to prejudice. A person who dresses decently and talks sincerely doesn’t imply that he’s definitely innocent and kind. You can't judge a book by its cover.So I support that one shouldn’t judge a person just from the appearance.
08One should live a relaxed life instead of always hurrying. Do you agree or disagree which the above statement? Why or why nor? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. I definitely agree to the statement that one should have a relaxed and unhurried life. Even though we must work hard in order to make our dreams come true, it is not a good idea to be exhsausted every day. We Chinese have an old saying, life is like a bow, sometimes tight and sometimes loose, or it will break. Only relaxation could let one have a good rest, which will definitely increase one's efficiency when he/she is back to work.
09Some believe that the students should do some part-time jobs or summer interns to determine their future career. Do you agree or disagree with the opinion and why?
In my opinion, every student should do a part-time job or apply for a summer intern before graduation. During the intern, we can learn a lot of things much more practical than what we learn in school. For example, a student of finance will put in much effort in math while studying
in school, but during the intern he/she will find the math formulas do very little help. Besides, we can check if we are really fit for the job we dreamed. Take me for instance, I dreamed to be a salesgirl in the supermarket when I was still a child. But when I really worked as a salesgirl as my summer intern I found the work was tedious.
10Someone suggests school to cut the Recycling. Do you agree or disagree with this suggestion, explain why.
I tend to disagree with cutting the recycling in school. Firstly, recycling can remind students of the importance of environmental protection. With a recycling system, students will discard garbage into the special recycling garbage boxes instead of throwing them away randomly on campus. In addition, schools can employ workers to deal with the garbage regularly, it can also create more jobs for people with low-income. So for these two reasons, I support that the recycling in school should continue.
