In our school，there are twelve classes，in every class, there are 10 to 15 groups. And in every group, there must be a group leader. Imagine that you are in your classroom, and you were asked if anyone wanted to volunteer to be a group leader, what the classroom would be like in the next few minutes? It’s so quiet that you can hear a needle drops. It seems that people nowadays prefer to be a member rather than a leader, why? I don’t know. For me, I would like to be a leader than an ordinary member. So do you really know the responsibility of a group leader? I, myself, am a group leader for nearly three years. Now, let me tell you.

If you are a group leader, you have many responsibilities. For example, you should always follow the school rules and set an example for others. You should help your member to work out difficult problems. You should help your teachers to check your members’ homework. You should help your members to make study plans wisely. And also you should tell the teacher about the bad behavior of your members. So probably they will hate you for doing this.

It seems that a group leader is not a good job. No wonder few people want to be a group leader. You may ask “what’s in it for me to be a group leader?”

Now, let me tell you the advantages of being a group leader.

First, I know group leaders have one thing in common. They always get good grades. Group leaders have more chance to show themselves and more chance to talk to the teachers directly. Thus, most group leaders become more excellent and confident after they have become leaders.

Second, more responsibilities require more abilities. Thus, if you are a good leader, you can develop many useful abilities. As a group leader, you have to communicate with both classmates and teachers, so you can have better communication ability. As a group leader, you have to organize to discuss a problem or to perform a short play. At first, many students won’t listen to you, you may feel sad, but when you become stronger, everything will become a piece of cake for you. Third, when your group makes progress at school, it is the group leader who receives the prize on the stage, while other members could only clap their hands.

Without doubt, being a leader can have more advantages for us. As the saying goes, “He is a bad soldier who does not dream of becoming a general.” Of course, you should try to be a good member and if you can, please try to be a great group leader of your class.

What is threatening the nature? Air and water pollution, overharvesting of plant and animal species, overpopulation and so on. Overpopulation is the biggest source of pollution. Let’s take overpopulation as an example.

What does overpopulation feel like? When we move slowly through the city in a taxi, when we enter a crowded district, when the temperature is high and when the air is thick with dust and smoke, the streets are crowded with people, the streets seem alive with people: people eating, people washing, people talking, people sleeping, people visiting each other, arguing and screaming. People, people, people, people. As we drive slowly through the crowd, sounding the taxis horn, the dust, heat, noise and cooking fires make it like a scene from hell!

To the nature, overpopulation is a big problem. More people, more

pollution, and the big population is threatening the nature every second. The rapid rise population is not creating problems only for the developing countries. The whole world faces the problem that raw materials are being used up and food production can’t keep up with the population increase. For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world ，population.

If the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don’t do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife, species will be declining. By protecting nature, we protect ourselves. Let’s unite together, hand in hand.

We can make this world better, take good care of our nature.
