To those who have seen the movie “Three Idiots”, Raju is the first character of the movie we begin to know. He is the narrator and the story clue of the film. It can be said the story line develops in the form of Rajo’s memory and his route. So he is an important man of the story. Today I would like to have a talk about him. Rajo was born in a common Indian family. His parents are neither rich nor very poor. It can be said he lived in a wage-earning family. In his family, they could only buy an air conditioner which was installed in Rajo’s room. His parents would have to spend their hot summer with an old electrical fan. Any luxurious goods couldn’t be enjoyed at all. His parents had to cope with hard life by less eating and tight clothing. All the family’s struggle and hope was fostering their son to be a successful
and rich man. They believed if their son could be allowed to university and study engineering that dream would come true. So they tried their best to make sure their son to follow the way they had designed for him.
Their son didn’t let them down. He was allowed to the most famous engineering college. And after graduation their son would find an excellent job which can gain a lot of money and respect.
However, our Rajo didn’t want to be an engineer at all. All his interests are in photography. He likes to photo animals. And he would like to be an animal photographer who could travel around the world some day. Nevertheless, his parents didn’t love his dreams. On the contrary, they believed such a dream was ridiculous. “To be a photographer could never be rich! Would you like to
make a living which has to worry about money every day like us? Only the work of an engineer can promise you a rich and respectful life.”
So Rajo was fallen into a dilemma. He didn’t know which one he should choose after graduation. Should he find a job as an engineer? By doing this, he could earn enough money, satisfy his parents’ dream and make his family lead a better life, but he wouldn’t feel happy in his life. Such a choice could make him enjoy the richness of material but bear the pain of mental. Let’s talk about his another choice. Should he find a job as a photographer? By doing this, he could do what he loved and lead a happy life and once he could make some achievements he could also earn enough money. But in case he couldn’t earn enough money, he would let his parents down and he
would have to lead a poor life and so did his family. Such a choice could make him enjoy the richness of mental but bear the pain of material. I believe every person who meets the problem will be troubled.
Luckily, the movie has Rajo to choose to follow his interest and has a good result. His parents were persuaded and their son finally became a world famous photographer, which meant enough money could be earned by this work. However, I would like to say, as for our common people, could we harbor the luckiness like Rajo? In case we can’t earn enough money? I am afraid most of us will choose to satisfy our material needs first, for we have to keep alive first? In one word, most of us daren’t take the adventure of following our pure dreams.
Of course we can’t conclude that our
common people’s opinions are right. Maybe if we follow Rajo’s way, we can be more success. At least we should believe if we pursue excellence, success will come sooner or later. I wish I could be rich as well as happy.
