There is an American girl called Sylvia. Her father was a famous plastic surgeon in Boston and her mother was a university professor. With great help and support from her parents, she was completely able to achieve her dreams. When she was in middle school, she had always dreamed to be a television anchor. She thought that she had talent, because when she got along with others,she could always know what “they”thought. She often said: "Just give me a chance, I believe I will succeed."

However, what she did to make her dream come true? In fact, she did nothing! She was just waiting for a miracle. She hoped that she would become a television anchor without doing anything but talent!

Sylvia unrealistically looked forward to the miracle, and of course, nothing occurred.

Another girl called Cindy has achieved Sylvia’s dream. She has become a well-known television anchor, for she knew that dreams will come true after industriousness. She went to work during the day and at night,she learned to be a journalist in a university.

After graduation, she began to look for jobs. She went to every broadcasting station and television station in Los Angeles. However, nearly most of the managers said to her similarly: "We can’t hire a man with no experience."

However, she didn’a small television weatherman recruitment.

Cindy, a Californian, did not like the north. But, she caught the chance for dream. Two years later, Cindy found a job in popular television in Los Angeles. It took another five years for her to get promoted and finally, she became a famous anchor. We have got along for two years. I found that, in fact, many of us had lost the opportunity just because "laziness": be lazy in memorizing words, be lazy in doing enough exercises, be lazy in asking questions, be lazy in noticing the details, and then they failed the exam again and again, a lot of opportunities were lost.

Others, though they usually got good test scores in some tests, never reviewed what they had learned before each competition. While doing some more important exams, they saw a lot of words they should have been familiar with, but what’s the result? They totally can’t remember what these words exactly mean. They can’t grasp the ways to deal with the more difficult problems, and finally they failed in such tests.

Due to the terrible laziness, they wasted the precious time at last. Dozens, hundreds of hours! How painful the price is!It’s no use to use your talent singleto work out some difficult exercises, but industriousness. We shouldn’t waste our time every day, even one minute.We should do something significant. If you do more exercises than others, you may get better scores in some tests.

Success depends on industriousness. For many crucial moments, you must catch these opportunities and do it well and successfully.

Remember: the industriousness is the only way to success.

Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to give the speech. My topic is “Action makes the way to success”.

Today the theme is about success. But now I don’t want to talk about success first. Please allow me to share my failure experiences with you. One year ago, I set my mind on taking exercise. I made thorough plan and bought many sport suits. But time passed and my plan has not been carried out for many trifling reasons. I got frustrated and regret for not taking action earlier.

I think many people had experienced such things like me. They are good at making plans, but after making plans carefully, they often forget to do them. Other circumstances, when a man was trapped in dilemma, he seems to struggle to find way out by racking his brain rather than begining taking action. Sometimes, what we really lack is not ideas, but just do it. In the delay and wait day after day, success submerged in the bubble of illusion.

As old sayings go: A thousand miles begins with one step. Actions speak louder than words. Bill Gates gave a typical lesson for the youth who want to have successful careers. Only in doing we learn, and only in doing we grow up. Action gives us courage and self-confidence. During the action, we will have a new perspective of ourselves and be surprised by the potential we own. Maybe you are shy. But when a day you have the courage to stand in front of the public, you will find it’s not so difficult to express yourself as you had supposed. Regardless of success or failure, the results are the same important and have the same significance for greater progress.

Every one has his own dream of success. Before we take action, it’s just a dream. Now how can the dream shed light into the reality. The shortest answer is doing. Only by doing, can we touch the hand of lady luck. Only by doing, can we approach success more and more closely. Action makes the way to success. Thank you!
