Good afternoon. Ladies and gentlemen. The topic of my speech is To Chang or Not, It is Your Option.

Now I stand here , wearing high-heeled shoes, skirt, and with permed curly long hair. While believed it or not, two years ago, I vowed solemnly to my mother, I would never wear high-heeled shoes, never wear shirt in cold wether and never perm my hair. Maybe you would just think that it is nothing surprising, because women are capricious.

Well, of course, you are right. However what I really want to point out is that people’s minds, especially for women’s, can really easily be changed, but it’s not the only one. I mean besides people’s minds, there is still many other unchangeable things can be changed. From philosophy, we realized that nothing in the world is everlasting and unchangeable. The universe, the planet, the sun, the moon……Are they everlasting and unchangeable? Nobody knows, because no one knows what will happen tomorrow. Now that all in the world is changeable, not to mention ourselves— a kind of common creature. That is to say, in fact, what we believed the changeable all can be changed, including love, friendship, dream, youth, and so on. The season why we would rather believed that these beautiful things are unchangeable is just because we, we human, always want to keep these fine things.They are too fine to believe they are changeable. Why the slogan”Nothing is impossible” is popular, because it is right, so people are willing to chase after it.

Since the changeable can be changed, why not chang it? While in our lives, so much complaints around us, like“It is impossible. It is unchangeable”, and they are common.

Now I would like to share a story with you about eagle. The eagle has the longest life-span of its species. It can reach up to 70 years. But to reach up to this age, the eagle must make a hard and painful decision. When an eagle reached near 40, its beak, talon and feathers become weak. Its long and flexible talons can no longer grab prey. Its old and heavy wings with their thick feathers become stuck to its chest and make it difficult to fly. Then the eagle is left with only two options: die or go through a painful process of chang which lasts five months. When the eagle feels weak and about to die, it retires to a place far away on the top of a mountain and sits on a nest. For new life, the eagle knocks its beak against a rock until it plucks its beak out. After plucking it out, the eagle waits for a new beak to grow back and then it plucks out its talons. When its new talons grow back, the eagle starts plucking its old feathers. It sounds merciless and unchangeable, but they really made it. And after five months, the eagle takes its famous flight of rebirth and live for 30 more years.

Now, to change or not, that is your option.

Good morning, everyone. It’s my pleasure to deliver this speech here. The subject of my presentation is “change the unchangeable”, which means try your best to make a change when stuck in an unchangeable situation.

No wonder that there exists something unchangeable in our life, getting into the way of striving for what we want. There are plenty of unchangeable obstacles for us. They are serious and they are many. They will hardly be meet. But know this, my friends, they will be meet. Once you believe in yourself, the unchangeable is going to be changed.

Nothing is impossible, and in a sense, nothing is unchangeable! The thing absolutely unchangeable does not exist. Sometimes, adversities seems really unchangeable for the moment, but we must realize that they can be changed in some way. Moses was a stutterer, yet he was called on to be the voice of god. As we can also see in the film “The king’s speech”, stammer is unchangeable for the king, the duke of York. But once his realized that he need to make a change and inspired by the words “to be or not to be, it is a question”, he returned to the hospital, and accepted the retreatment again. With the help of the doctor Lionel Logue, he gradually made progress and managed to get over his unchangeable physical

disability.

There are endless examples. Abraham Lincoln overcome a difficult childhood, depression, the death of two sons and the constant failure seems unchangeable to become one of the greatest presidents in America. Helen Keller made an impact on the world despite being deaf, dumb, and blind from an early age.

These were the people who managed to change the unchangeable. Some of them make a change in a direct way, and others do not change the adversity unchangeable exactly, but they succeed in changing what they could do in the unchangeable situation. They changed the authoritative view the majority put on them. And this is the right way in which we can change the unchangeable.

To conclude, I appeal to all of you for doubting the unchangeable and trying to change the unchangeable.

（二）Change the unchangeable

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. It is a great honor for me to be given these opportunities to deliver a speech. The subject of my presentation is change the unchangeable. One of my mottoes is “Change your thinking, change your life!” I’m a big believer that our thoughts and emotions shape our experiences. The problem is that most people aren’t aware of their negative thoughts. It’s almost like they have just become a

habit, so it seems normal to them.

You think that you are a victim. In fact, you’re not a victim. So stop blaming other people or your circumstances for your problems, just because you don’t like where you are now doesn’t mean that you can’t take personal responsibility to change it for the better. So get rid of that mentality because it doesn’t help anything. Actually, it acts as an obstacle to success. Realize that you, and only you, are responsible for your destiny.

Some things you can change. In fact, a lot of things you can change. You can lose weight. You can find a better job. You can go back to school. You can study hard. You can and you must change the unchangeable. You can’t believe that the past determines your future. Just because you came from a poor family, or made mistakes in the past does not mean that you can’t make your future better. If you have labeled yourself as a “failure” because of your past, then you will only continue your “failure” attitude into the future. And if you’re heard of the self-fulfilling prophecy phenomenon, then you know that what you think, you become. So like I said in the opening paragraph: “Change your thinking, change your life!”

In a word, you just make great effort; keep the right attitude, and believe that everything is possible if you try to do it. Change the unchangeable; your life will be better.

（三）Change the unchangeable

When I was about 10 years old in primary school, I believed that my future would have nothing to do with two things: music and English. Now, I play my guitar nearly every day and in the near future I will be hosting an English salon.

Changing the unchangeable seemed to be a mission impossible to me at first sight, but then it dawned on me that to say whether one thing is unchangeable or not is sometimes quite a personal judgment. It might be our fear, indecisiveness or carelessness that prevent us from finding the solutions. We are just sometimes too used to the settled plans, customs and routines that we fail to come up with the idea of making changes. To change the unchangeable is just like to give a good speech on the stage that the priority is always to jump out of the box and see the things from different perspectives.
