A;Have you heard that Tom will turn back?

B: Tom? Is he the one who has been kicked out?

A: Yes. Why are you so surprised?

B: If I were him, I would never turn back.

A;Why not? I appreciate his choice.

B: An old saying goes that A wise man will not turn back after he has moved on. That’s my reason.

A: In our lives, we will at some time or other ask ourselves if we can turn back. Given, the future may be unlimited, but no matter how unlimited it may be, it may not mean the options of our past are not as unlimited. I think the saying applies to the capable, decent, and upstanding people who should and need to turn back to pursue a past that holds some value and attraction.

B; I think you have misunderstood the essential meaning of the saying. It refers to the choices made in life. Whether it's social and personal growth, the pasture ahead is greener in economic terms and worth more. The pasture that passed is worth less but an easier destination to reach. Whether to turn back or not is a matter of choosing between the two, One cannot choose to occasionally turn back.

A; You mean that turning back must be a constant desire. I’m not in your side. If I had a desire for apples, does that mean I want apples all the time?

B: Actually, you have misunderstood what turning back means. Turning back doesn’t mean turning back to the particular place. Does that mean when I return home at the end of the day I’ve turned back?

A: It’s not the matter of understanding. You don't have to advance your values by demeaning the opposite value. A wise man should know how to choose at any time. Why can't a man who turns back strive for progress? Why can't a man who turns back advance by taking a step back?

B: I don't mean that,OK?What makes a wise man? A wise man is extraordinary, far-sighted, ambitious and upstanding. He cannot turn back to move ahead in society. Society is continually progressing and turning back signifies regression. A wise man who has to lead society cannot afford to get lost.

A: We know that Steve Jobs returned to the company that once turned him out. Should he not have returned to Apple?

B: It was precisely because Apple is his life’s passion that he went back. It means that action alone doesn’t count. It is the pursuit of progress that makes a difference.

A: Jobs returned to the company that threw him out. He faced the same people he once traded with. He was willing to put up with something difficult. Turning back is also a growth. Doesn’t his return to Apple show the personal growth and progress?

B: Did he go back to be thrown out again? Of course not. He aims to

get a bigger success and achieve his own self-value. He is still moving on instead of turning back.

A; You think life is as important as its length, but the meaning of life is often not related to its length, but on the depth and breadth of experience. We should know our past is very interesting and never close the door behind us. The unwillingness to turn back will deprive us of half a lifetime of possibilities.

B; Let past be past. We need to move on, and the world forward is more promising. When faced up with difficulties, turning back is useless. We need to forge ahead through storms to make it to the high seas. Why is a wise man worth to our respect? That is because his determination not to turn back and the indomitable spirit of humanity.
