The Duality of Human Beings: A dilemma confronting

us all the time

All the psychologists are quite conversant with the technical term "Jekyll and Hyde",coming to mean a person who is vastly different in moral character from one situation to the next. However,the origin of the term is derived from a classic novella by a famous Scottish authorRobert Louis Stevenson Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. It is about a London lawyer named Gabriel John Utterson, a "large, well-made, smooth-faced man of fifty", occasionally feels he is battling between the good and evil within himself, thus leading to the struggle between his dual personalities of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. He has spent a great part of his life trying to repress evil urges that were not fitting for a man of his stature. The work is commonly associated with the rare mental condition often spuriously called "split personality", referred to in psychiatry asdissociative identity disorder , where within the same body there exists more than one distinct personality. In this case, there are two personalities within Dr Jekyll, one apparently good and the other evil; completely opposite levels of morality.

英语高考试卷分析

今年高考单选题考查范围更加广泛,例如全国新课标卷新增倒装句,天津卷新增介词短语辨析??,这就要求我们在以后的学习中能全面掌握知识,以求在高考中取胜。

单选题易考的知识点有对名词、动词、形容词/副词、代词及其短语等的辨析,时态、语态、非谓语动词、交际用语、倒装句以及对从句的考查等。而单选题错误的原因有对知识点的不明确和对句意理解的偏差。例如考查交际用语天津卷14题,句意为“我需要登广告来寻找下个学期的室友”,“为什么要这么麻烦呢?玛丽就有兴趣(做你的室友)”,要想做对这道题,就必须弄清楚题意才可以。

今年的完形填空较去年难度有所增加,但大部分都是对句意的考查。这就要求词汇量必须足够大和拥有一定的做题技巧,才能做对。例如全国卷I 45题。

As inviting his students to start an exciting into an unknown world. 句意为“邀请他的学生,开始到未知世界的令人激动的旅行”。通过对句意的了解,可知空中应选“旅程”,而恰好“voyage”表示“航行,旅程”的意思。 英语的完形填空应该在词汇量的基础上,训练自己的答题技巧,比如全国卷I 36题,虽然刚开始时并不知道此处填什么,但联系上下文,根据第二段倒数第2句“an important lesson about science”可知这是一堂介绍科学的讲座,所以可选出答案。

英语的阅读理解主要考查对文章的理解。这对我们有两方面的要求:一是有充足的词汇;二是要对一些熟词推测出在文章中的意思。下面是一些熟词新义:

(1)address:常用义 n. 地址;住址

新义:①vt. (在信封或包裹上)写上收信人的姓名、地址;写给给;

②vt& n. 发言;(正式)演讲,演说; ③vt 设法解决,处理,应对④vt 称呼

  After so many spoken English course of study,I learned a lot of knowledge from the teacher .I summarized into the following points .

  First and foremost,i know if you want to improve your spoken English quickly,You must overcome your fear of speaking English, opening your mouth and chatting with others .At first, you may stutter and embarrassed but this is very normal .Only thing you need to do is keep to do it and you are not far away from fluent oral English.Because you stepped out of the most difficult step .

  Secondly,you must often expose yourself to the English environment .Though you can not understand what they say,don't worry about it.You just make your life ofen filled English,so it can increase language sense unconsciously.

  Thirdly,you must keep every once in a while to write an article,may be three days or aweek.After a period of time, you can check and modify the article you wrote before.After several times of modification, not only your article will be more perfect, and your writing skill will be improved.

初中学生英语学习情况调查报告

摘要:随着社会的发展,英语变得越来越重要,但在农村,英语学习情况并不乐观,,难以达到教学目的。本文针对调查问卷结果进行分析,并对如何改善这一状况提出几点看法。

正文:英语在当今社会中的重要性无可否认。但在初中,尤其是农村普通高中,英语教学并不顺利,成果也并不那么尽人意。老师辛苦,学生疲惫,但成效不大。对此,我进行了教育调查,并与师生进行座谈,以更加深入了解这个情况,并针对此提出解决措施。

一、调查目的

了解初中学生现有的英语学习情况,以及影响他们英语学习的各方面因素,在掌握具体情况的基础上,有针对性地采取一些相应措施,促使教师真正改变教学理念,切实改进教学方法,加强教学的针对性和实效性。同时,也促进学生英语学习兴趣的提高和发展,变学生消极被动的学习为积极主动的学习,教学共进,力求达到教学的最大有效值,最终最大限度改变初中学生英语学习的不良现状。

二、调查方法与对象

根据本课题的研究目的,本次调查的方法主要采用问卷调查、学生座谈以及教师座谈,其中问卷调查中设计了10个选择题、3个开放性简答题。对象为本校初一至初三学生,共发问卷120份,回收有效问卷115份。

三、调查结果和原因分析

此次调查有13个问题,涉及到影响学生英语学习的原因主要有两大类:其一,来自于学生自身的因素,即内因包括学习英语的兴趣、自信心、态度等方面;其二,外部的环境因素,即包括家庭、社会、学校等方面。

(一)学生对英语学习的自信心

总体说来,学生对英语学习的自信心不够。如在调查“你现有的英语基础与水平”一题时,选“中等”的占51%;选“差”的占13%,因为基础太差,对学好英语已没感觉了,甚至对整个学习也麻木了。反映出学生的自信心不足。这也会影响学生英语学习质量。

(二)学生自身对英语学习的兴趣

大部分同学对英语学习兴趣不浓。如在调查“你对英语学习感兴趣”这个问题时,选“特别感兴趣”的只占12%;选“比较感兴趣”的占20%;其他同学对英语或不太感兴趣或一点都不感兴趣。没有兴趣,英语学习就成了一种应付,一种压力,这也是英语学不好的一个重要因素。
