arrive，reach，get小辨

英语里表示“到达”意思的有arrive reach和get三个单词，有时还能互换。它们在用法上有如下区别：

1、〔arrive〕我是arrive,不及物动词,我的后面要跟in或at.表示到达大城市或国家时要用in,而到达小城市、乡村、车站等小地方则用at.如:

We arrived in London last week. 我们上周到达伦敦。

The doctor arrived at the village at last. 医生终于到达了那个村子。

2、〔reach〕我是"独行侠"reach,是及物动词,后面从来不跟介词,直接跟宾语（地点名词）

就行了。如:

When did you reach the station？ 你是什么时间到达车站的？

He reached Nanjing at noon. 他是中午到达南京的。

3、〔get〕我是get,与arrive一样,是不及物动词,所以我常带着to一起出行。不过,当"

到达"的地点是副词时,我就不带它了。如:

Ann got to the farm at six o'clock. 安六点钟到达农场。

I got here early in the morning. 我一大早就到这儿了。

★当然,如果不指明到达的地点就不能用我get了,而要用arrive.如:

When I arrived, they weren't there. 当我到达时,他们不在那儿。

The Impression After Reading The Gift of The Magi

Once l heard a book whose name is The Gift of The Magi, hear and there, l have read some parts of the book. L have kown little about the author of the book—O.Herry. Recently, l read this book again ,and got a futher understanding of the whole book.

1. About the author:

As we all know, the background of his writing and thoughts could be understood by her biography, so we should know the experience of the author. Herry was born in a little town of North Carolina, in USA and also is one of the greatest writters all aroud the world. He had worked in many place and in many occupations such as cowboy, druggist, accountant, and so on. His works is fulled of unique conception, language humorous,the result frequently is beyond expectation,it is worth reading.

2.About the book

This book is a collection of short stories, it contain 12 stories, now l’d like to simply introduce the whole book. it is named as The Gift of The Magi just because it is the first story of the collection. Every story contains different philosophy of life,it contains the attitude toward life, the

attitude toward money,and the attitude towards poverty of life,and also used the ironic tone criticize hypocrite of society. Meanwhile, he praised the pure love and showed the sympathy to the poor people and the living condition. The another character of the book is the unexpected ending is also make reader unforgetable .

3.The feeling after reading the book:

After reading this book,the most mpressing story in my mind is the Gift of Magi, the topic is love, the story is start between a couple, wife Della and husband James Dillingham, the wife had her hair cut off and sold because she couldn’t have through Chrismas without giving his husband a present,so at that day，she bought him a beatiful watchband, at the same time,her dear husband sold the precious golden watch to buy the beautiful and expensive the set o combs, sside and back, that Della had worshipped lon in a broadway window. Beautiful combs, pure tortoise shell,with jewlled rims—just the shade to wear the beautiful vanished hair. They like two foolish children in a flat who most unwisely sacrificed for each other the greatest treasures of their house. But in a last word to the wise of these days let it be said that of all who give and receive gifts,such as they are

wisest. Just as the author said that everywhere they are wisest, they are the Magi.

The name of second article is A Service of Love, it is a love story,too. It described the two poor lover who loved one anoter, they had meaningful goal towards life and art, they change the saying:“when one loves one’s art, no service seems too bad. ”to“just when one loves,no service seems too bad.” They deeply loved each other no matter how poverty they were,no matter how much sorrow they have to face up, they still cherished the friendship between them, they were willing to sacrifice for each other even if they dream. Love is pure, no matter how duty the society is , the sweet of love still can be tested by the people who really love each other, really cherish each other.

The name of third article is Mammon and the Archer. As we all know the Mammon is the king of monney and the Archer is the goddess of love. The title is used as metaphor. In yhis passage,the author use paticular eye to show his point between love and money. Old Anthony Rochwall was a retired manufacturer and proprietor of Rockwall’s Eureka Soap,he had a large sum of money, he think money would take three generations to make one as slick as soap grease,

he believed money can do everything. He was the champion of the root of evil. But his liitle son didn’t believe it, he thought that money can buy everything but pure love, money can’t buy the time used to
