英语专业主干课读书报告课程大纲
一、指导思想
英语专业主干课读书报告是英语专业重要实践环节之一,目的在于检查学生所学主干课程(包括语言学、英美文学和翻译等)内容的掌握情况,提高学生综合运用知识的能力。
二、时间
本实践环节自2007级始,在每届本科生的第7学期进行,为期16周(第1周至第16周),学期末完成读书报告的成绩评定和成绩登录。完成读书报告并考核通过者,获得2学分。
三、读书报告基本要求(各指导教师可以根据课程特点作相应调整。)
1.使用语言:报告主体英文撰写,翻译涉及中文的部分可以使用中文。
2.内容构成
I. Introduction
In the introduction part, information about the book, the author, and his times should be covered. A brief account of the author’s life should be given together with a description of his times. The latter should include the circumstances that led to the writing of the book under discussion and the historical and social background related to the content of the book if necessary. II. A Summary of the Book
A summary should be self-contained, clear and easy to understand. (Comments on and criticisms of the book should not be mixed with the summary; they can be left to the third part.) The summary of a novel or a play is usually written in the present tense, or sometimes in the tense of the original work.
III. Comments or Your Views on the Book
In this part, the writer expresses his or her own views on the book, such as its merits and demerits. And he is also supposed to discuss its relevance to his present English language learning or to the present life.
3.阅读目标:该主干课涉及领域内的任何书籍(原则上为1本),具体作品由指导老师根据英语专业该课程教学大纲所列书目或本人研究领域确定。
4.篇幅:正文不少于3000英文单词。
5.格式:16K纸双面打印,页面设置为:左2.5, 右2.5, 上2.5,下2.5,行距1.5,读书报告题目3号字,正文小4号字。英文字体为TIMES NEW ROMAN,封面统一按照学院模板设计。
四、指导过程要求
要求指导教师为学生认真选择所读书目,对学生上交的读书报告认真批改,提出具体的指导意见。从学生完成初稿到最后定稿应不少于两稿。
五、论文成绩
由指导教师评定,成绩分为优秀、良好、中等、及格、不及格五个等级。
