Book Report

I am in the chass writing1 and my teacher is Liuyan. The tittle of my reading book is Charlotte Bronte's 《Jane Eyre》.The book has 510 Pages and was pressed by Yilin Publisher. The book narrated a flexuous love story between Jane and Rochester.Author Charlotte Bronte was also a female who lived in England in middle period of 19 century. It was a brand-new era when the nation was turning its steps to the industry from the agriculture and the rising bourgeoisie overspread day by day. These had an great effect on the her writing. My friend Wangwei recommended the book to me.

Anyone who felt like reading the external novels would not miss 《Jane Eyre》, the classical writing of Charlotte Bronte's .It narrated a flexuous love story between Jane and Rochester. From the story it figured a female who born in a humble family and the life was devious but she insist on the unaided personality ,aspired after freedom of kidney ,claimed equality of the lives and didn't give in to the exist.

When Jane was a little girl, her parents were dead because of a disease. She lived in her aunt's fazenda. What different from other girls was that she endured the miserable treatments including aunt's dislike , sister's exclusion, cousin’s insult and beats mercilessly .

In front of Rochester, she also never considered self-contemptuous because she was a nidering tutor. They were equal in the sight of Jane, it’s wrong that she couldn't receive the others' respect just because she was a servant .Also because of hers honesty, chaste, noble, the unsophisticated mind which has not received harm of the common society, these enabled Rochester to feel ashamed and was filled with deep esteem. He had fallen in love with her deeply.

Finally, Jane transpired that Rochester lost sight, lost the viability completely and his body was serious disability for saving his wife who was in fire. What Rochester lost not only was wealth but also was his wife. Jane’s love came to him once more.

Enjoying reading 《Jane Eyre》,the main reason was the description to the love. There were no broad、vulgar、sexy portray, what presented in front of the reader was one kind deeply moving, the supreme love. This is a slick love story. Many years passing by, but I think I can get something new from the reading every time. The story moved me deeply; it makes me learn a lesson in treating with the life, the condition and the sentiment. Somebody says there is no love at the time when everything connects with money, human relationship is worth nothing.

The story of 《Jane erey》gives me a little warm in my heart. It makes me understand the essence of the love. It also fits for the child who is living in the rich family and surrounded with the care of the parents. They ought to appreciate

Jane's inner world was full of self-respect, independence, gentle and love. Love, amicability and caress are the most abundant and most important spiritual wealth. we can get nothing without it. Learn to love, learn to owes.I had recommend the book to my brothers.

英语读书报告格式要求范文

There is no standard form for a book report. However, every book report should contain the following four parts:

1. Identification. Give the title and author’s name. If the book is one with which your readers may not be familiar, identify it further. Give the name of the publisher, the place and year of publication, the price, and the number of pages.

2. Classification. A word or phrase early in your report helps the reader keep in mind the type of book on which you are reporting; mystery, biography, humor, adventure, and so on. Your reader can then mentally compare it with similar books he has read.

3. Description. A skillful book report gives an overall view of a book without giving away its outcome. Your description of a book may include quotations or brief sketches of scenes or action that you think are representative of the book. Take notes while reading. It will save you the time and trouble of thumbing through the book later to relocate quotations or other information.

4. Evaluation. Your opinion is the most important part of the report. It may be either your immediate reaction to the book or a judgment based on further study. In either case, your opinion should be definite and clear. It should be supported with facts. You will want to comment on characterizations, plot, and recurring themes. Compare or contrast it to other books you’ve read. Write a word of criticism or praise while reading. It will help you recall your impression of the material after you have finished the book.

Writing book reports can be a valuable exercise in clear thinking and precise writing. It also gives you the opportunity to improve your writing and to develop a style of your own.

A Book Report on The Black Tulip

By Huang Xin, Class 0901

I have recently read the simplified version of The Black Tulip published by Shanghai Translation Press. This novel was written by the distinguished French writer Alexandre Dumas Pere, the pioneer of the Romanticism Literature Movement in France. He was so popular that his works had been translated into several languages and welcomed by readers all over the world.

This novel took 17th century Dutch bourgeois revolutionary period of intense political struggle and the turbulent life as its background.

This gist of the story is as follows. The leading role Cornelius is a young doctor who completely doesn’t inquire about politics. He loves growing tulips and is trying to cultivate a black tulip without any other color on it at all. In order to obtain the considerable bonus offered by the government to the first man who cultivates the very kind of black tulip, Boxtel, Cornelius’ neighbor, tries to destroy and steal the bulbs of Cornelius, even kill him. Fortunately, Cornelius in the prison gets acquainted with the prison-keeper’s daughter Rosa and they fall in love. Under Rosa’s help, Cornelius realized his dream and achieves happiness at last.

It’s firmly believed by some people that when you become rich and successful, happiness will naturally follow. After reading this novel, I believe that nothing is further from the truth. To my mind, the secret to happiness lies in your successful work, in your contribution towards others’ happiness and in your wealth you have earned through your own honest efforts.

Firstly, in order to obtain happiness, you should achieve your successful work; in order to achieve your successful work, you should go through thick and thin. As the writer said, “those who have suffered much, have a right to be happy.” Take the two leading characters for example. They eventually reach happiness after suffering a lot both psychologically and physiologically.

Secondly, your happiness should live in your contribution towards others’ happiness, but not on the contrary, in destroying others’ happiness. If you get your happiness by taking advantage of others or by hurting others, you won’t be happy

with it for long, at least, you won’t enjoy the real happiness. People will think you’re a mean person. Boxtel was a typical case. He would never gain happiness.

Thirdly, wealth obtained through dishonest means doesn’t bring happiness. Happiness is not an end, it is a process. It’s a continuous process of honest and productive work which makes a real contribution to others and makes you feel you are a useful and worthy person.

A Book Report on Sons and Lovers

By Cheng Xin, Class 0901

Sons and Lovers is a novel written by David Herbert Lawrence and it was first published in 1913 in London by Wyman & Sons.

D. H. Lawrence was born at Eastwood, Notts, on September 11, 1885, the fourth child of a miner who had been employed at Brinsley Colliery since he was 7 years old. In 1911, his first novel The White Peacock was published.

Sons and Lovers is divided into two parts and is composed of 15 chapters altogether. The story, set in England, can be interpreted as an autobiographical novel of Lawrence. The hero of the book, Paul Morel, is the second son of a miner's family. His mother, Mrs. Morel, is a daughter of a mid-class family. Because of the differences in family background and education, a shadow is soon cast upon the married life of Mrs. Morel. And this shadow is darkened by Mr. Morel's laziness and alcoholism. By misfortune or bad luck, Mr. Morel has an accident and becomes a cripple, which changes him into a man of bad temper. As a result, the couple shares less and less the things in common and is driven farther and farther apart from each other. Little by little, Mrs. Morel transports her attention and love to her children, especially her two sons, William and Paul. She encourages them to leave the small mining region for a big city to find opportunities for a better life. After the death of her first son, William, because of hard work and pneumonia, Mrs. Morel's divided attention and love is poured completely upon Paul. The mother's abnormal love robs Paul of his normal love for his girl friend.

Sons and Lovers has always been claimed since its publication to be another version of Oedipus complex. But D. H. Lawrence is in no sense an imitator. Sons and Lovers is truly an autobiographical novel. It describes an ordinary life of a coal miner's family. The abnormal love from the mother deprives Paul of his independent

personality and mental health. It is perhaps because of this true picture of life that the novel has won Lawrence everlasting reputation.
