Sample writing:

How can we be happy under the great pressure of the College Entrance Examination? The answer lies in the fact that we can have an objective understanding of our abilities and set a reasonable goal. Furthermore, what really matters is that we have tried our best to achieve them.

In junior middle school, I was one of the top ten students in my school. I was confident and happy. But things have changed since I started senior school. However hard I tried, I was unable to be listed on the top one hundred. I felt stressed and depressed. After thinking carefully, I painfully realized that I was not as smart as I imagined. To my comfort, I have always been doing my best and I have never wasted a single hour. What makes me proud is that all my hard work paid off at last.

In our life voyage, we can’t change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails to reach

our destinations. Be realistic and hardworking, and we can always be happy enough to live through our hard school life.

In her latest book entitled “The Battle Hymn of a Tiger Mother”, Amy describes how she adopts traditional Chinese methods to educate her children, which is considered by many westerners to be too hard and inhuman.

One of the issues being discussed after the book was published is whether early education should focus on children’s happiness. Those supporting the idea argue that early education is intended to help children grow up in a cheerful atmosphere and inspire them to better themselves in an all-round way. Ethan's mom used money for encouraging him to be devoted to learning, but she

failed. In fact, kids are happy to be rewarded with money while some teachers and

psychologists are upset. (32 words)

Rewarding a child with cash is a common phenomenon in reality, and it does

even become a trend. Form where I stand, I am not in favour of encouraging kids with

cash. To get kids motivated to learn, we should not treat every child in the same way.

To some students, oral praise is essential and adequate. However, this method may not

work well with other kids. Maybe what counts more to them is to watch a movie or go

on a trip together with their parents. It just depends. My parents used to encourage me

by leading me to have more reading. Whenever I made progress in my studies, they

bought me my favourite books, which not only motivated me, but also helped me get

In conclusion, schools and parents should educate their kids by teaching them to

something passively. Only by building up some noble and long-range aims can they
