The Justice is the first Legal-themed American TV play I’ve seen, through which apart from the acquaintance of America’s distinctive legal system, I learnt some of the significant concepts in the American Law spirit. In this article I am going to brief you with my opinions based on some possible facts demonstrated in the episode 10.

Episode Introduction:

Garcia is a bartender who likes to flirt with girls, out of profession, and he works in a bar of Orange County, of which Ron owns part of the shares. Days ago, Garcia sent a drunken lady, Beth, back home and the lady is supposed to get married these days but now missing. The police found Garcia as the suspect for Beth’s sweater and blood in his car. Later a tipster called the police to find the body of Beth. Tom showed the jury demonstration of Beth’s death, and Garcia didn’t fit as the one who strangled Beth to death. Finally, Garcia was free.

1. At the very beginning, there is a mistake made by the prosecutor because there is no murder

confirmed yet when Garcia was arrested by the Orange County Police. Since there is no dead body at all, Garcia was in no way for a murder trial. But later the body of Beth made it a real case, putting Garcia in danger for Beth’s sweater and blood was found in Garcia’s car. After all, he was the last one to see Beth and he could get away from this case.

2. Deep research into the jury should be necessary before the trial. The jury in Orange County

are distinctive from those in L.A. The Orange County jury are mostly registered republicans, conservative, church-going regular people who hold bad image for the lawyers from L.A. and dislike the Hollywood-style life. In addition, I think in this episode police should have done more work such as crime investigation, information collecting before they act and confirm the suspect. Otherwise, the story would not be so convincing.
