Nowadays, if you ①step into students’ dorms, you’ll find almost every college student owns a computer. Some people think it is a good means to promote study. It is very convenient and fast to find what we need when we are writing thesis or doing a research. And we can also have online learning if we have problems in our study. In addition, we can see movies or listen to music whenever we are tired. So having a computer in dorm brings a lot of benefits.
While there are still some people who think that having a computer in the dorm ②has a bad effect on study. In fact, there are so many students who are addicted to computer games, playing them day and night, so it’s obvious that they can’t do well in their study. ③What’s worse, there are so many unhealthy things on the Internet that will ruin those who don’t have a strong will to control themselves and lead to crimes in reality.
To me, there is no need to have a computer for each college student. The reasons are as follows: firstly, if you lack self-control, ④it’s very likely that you’ll use the computer to play games, watch films or chat with friends instead of study. Secondly, if you really want to use the computer, you can certainly go to the school’s computer rooms to do whatever you like. The price for surfing the Internet in school is low. Thirdly, it’s not safe leaving your PC in dorm. Once stolen, it is a great pain to you and your family for the PC is quite expensive. I do believe it’s not necessary to get a PC in the dorm.

Is It Wise to Make Friends Online?
Nowadays, more and more people begin to make friends through Internet. As a new way to communicate with others, Internet has its ①unique advantages which appeal to young men. For example, it can help you meet people far away from you without a long journey and much money. You can sit down at home, ②clicking the mouse. Internet helps people make the world a little one which we call the “earth village”, and making friends on line is easy.
But Internet gives people chances to ③cover their true identity because you can’t actually know who you are talking with. Maybe you are talking with a criminal who wants to know your private information, or you may encounter a man who wants to cheat you of money or do something even more terrible to you. It is dangerous to make friends with people like that on line, of which we should be careful.

How Will Our Life Go on without Internet?
If asked whether the Internet is the greatest discovery of the 20th century, my answer would be yes. The Internet has drawn the world closer together, realized countless incredible dreams, and provided modern people with a great many conveniences and a brilliant life.
Today, many people simply feel they cannot live without the Internet. Governments publish their latest policies and decisions online for worldwide recognition. Political campaigns are often done online to gain wider public support. Companies and enterprises resort to the Internet for more business opportunities and potential customers home and abroad. Universities and researchers turn to the Internet if they’d seek international cooperation or funding. Common folks like us also rely on the cyber world in various ways, for communication, entertainment, banking and shopping.
The power of the Internet is all pervasive, yet its many negative effects are already visible. For example, Internet addicts tend to withdraw to their own fantasy world rather than communicate with a real person. Children are exposed to online pornography and violence. Internet frauds are an everyday occurrence. In view of all this, you are advised to use the Internet with wisdom. Keep it at a safe distance and never lose yourself.
