the reflection after watching scent of a woman

--------To thine own self be true One journey to New York City has changed the lives of two men forever.

Charlie Simms,a Baird High School student,works as a weekend companion to a blind,hard-drinking ex-army colonel,Frank Slade in order to earn extra money over the Thanksgiving weekend.At the beginning,because of innocence and reserve,Charlie is immediately thrown off guard by colonel's bullying personality.However,Charlie sticks to it and then he starts for a wild week in New York city following the colonel.Something changes during the trip.

I'm deeply attracted and moved by the two main characters of the movie,Charlie and Colonel.Firstly,I would like to say that my eyes are caught by the flame of colonel when I see him for the first sight.What a confident and fantastic man!I even don't find that he is blind.I love colonel very much.Maybe some people will say that colonel is harsh and indifferent and he says what he wants never thinking about the feelings of others,but he does care for the people around him deeply in his heart.He knows the dilemma that Charlie is facing and he suggests Charlie to take the offer of Mr.Trask(Baird headmaster) because that is a easier way out of concern about Charlie's future.What's more?There are two scenes that impress me deeply.The first scene is that the colonel calls the name of a stewardess even though he can't see at all.The colonel is interested in

women and h is especially sensitive to the scent of women.In his mind,women symbolize hope and vitality.The other scene is that he has a excellent performance of tango with a beautiful lady,Donna.He is so splendid that nobody is to aware that he is a blind person.Through his love for women and tango,I see his optimism and passion for life and his bold and unconstrained view of life.However,disability and loneliness have long eroded the colonel's combativeness and passion for live and finally turns him into a defeated man.Finally,he chooses to die but deep in his heart,there is still a strong will of living.It is Charlie who arouses his life instinct and makes him see the strength in his character and regaliein hharis self-confidence.Charlie's compassion,courage and sense of responsibility have brought light into his world of darkness.The colonel's life has changed.

Next,I want to talk something about Charlie,who studys in the Barid High School depending on the scholarship.Charlie is different from his classmates.He is poor but he is full of integrity.At the very beginning of the film,Charlie is accidentally involved in the rich boys' mischief,which is taken by the headmaster as a serious challenge against the school authority.He finds himself in a dilemma.Should he hold his integrity and keep silence,or accept the headmaster's offer in his own interest?Just as the colonel says"There are two kinds of people in the world:those who stand up and face the music,and those who run for cover."This two kinds

of people best illustrates people's different reaction in the face of a clash between one's principle and one's interest.As everyone knows,keeping strictly to one's integrity is something very hard and costly in the world.Charlie chooses to stick to his principle and integrity.He will not sell his principle to buy a bright future and choose his right way in his life although he knows it will be hard.Compared withe the behaviour of George who just hides in his father's pockets and give up the principle,Charlie's integrity make everybody cheer for him.At the end of the film,the colonel appears in the Student-Faculty Discipline Committee of Baird. He has a powerful and impressive speech about one's principle,integrity and character.It is his speech that finally wins over teh committee members.So,Charlie can avoid the fortune of being fired.Charlie 's life has changed.

The stories of Charlie and colonel remind me of the story of my physical teacher,Mrs.Chen,in high school.Mrs.Chen is a person just like Charlie.She never sell her principle to buy her bright future.She always says what what she thinks is right just as the colonel even the person she talks with is the headmaster or other school leaders.She never choose the good words to compliment school leaders as some other teachers do.So,school leaders don't like her,which make her have little opportunity to have a promotion even though she is a really excellent teacher.However,in students' eyes,she is sincerely thought a good teacher

just as mother.At first,I am afraid of her for she is very strict in study.She will point your problems and bad behaviours out directly and ask you to correct them.Gradually,I am used to her method of teaching and like her very much.Mrs.Chen always keeps her principle:she manages to find the best method and condition for her students although sometimes it is very hard and make her offend the school leaders.What she wants is to be a good teacher.And she make it.In my mind,Mrs.Chen is successful although she never gets the chance to promote.She gains the respect and love of all her students.

The stories of these two excellent men deeply move me.I learn a lot from Charlie and the colonel:no matter how hard the life is,one should keep optimism an passion for life.What's more important?To thine own self be true.That is to say,being true to one's self,one's values,beliefs and standards.It is essential when it comes to spiritual success.I am going be a person just as Charie,who live by his principle no matter what.Maybe there will be many thistles and thorns in the road,I will stick to it.To thine my self be true,my life will be more beautiful and meaningful.

——看《闻香识女人》有感

我记得初中的时候，第一次看这部影片。十几岁的年纪又怎么会懂影片在表达什么。现在再看几遍，心生的感悟却太多。

电影的主线是上校复杂的心理变化，而chalice的出现引导这条主线发展的。 两个半小时，两个刚认识的男人，一段旅行。英雄不甘迟暮，生命不甘屈服。 上校是个瞎子。原谅我用瞎子这个词。影片里，上校的所有失落绝望，只源于他认为自己只是个瞎子。尽管他其实是一个非常有魅力的男人。可是他看不见。他看不见美丽的女人，却能从香水味去欣赏一个女人。他看不见路，却驾着法拉利狂飙了几条大街。当看到他沉浸在那一曲探戈里的时，看到他手握方向盘兴奋得像个孩子时，仿佛能看到他年轻时英姿勃发的样子。可我也看到了他去弟弟家，与他们争执时眼里无限的失落。看到他给手枪上子弹，因时间长眼里对自己的失望。这旅途一路，他和Chalice都是对方的人生导师。

Chalice在学校见证了一件恶作剧，学校胁迫学生共处朋友，chalice不想出卖朋友，却面临被学校勒退的威胁。他另外的一些朋友拿出自己有钱有权的家庭做挡箭牌，而他只好一个人去面对学校的威胁。在和上校相处的那几天里，chalice对上校的观察非常细微，当上校指纹chalice给他一个活下去的理由时，chalice给出的答案让上校犹豫了。

影片的高潮是上校在学校为chalice辩驳时。他的演讲让在场所有人不由自主的为他鼓掌，我想这也是影片想要传达给我们的思想吧。上校的人生哲学让人动心。有人说这是一部男人都应该看的电影，但我想说，这是一部无论是谁都值得一看的电影。
