In this film, Carrey begins as a recluse mired in depression, a man named Carl who has been avoiding his friends and not returning his messages for three years, all because his great love walked out on him. His

negative stance makes it easy to do his job, which amounts to denying loan applications. He's so indifferent to this work that he isn't even nice to his boss, who desperately wants to make friends. For Carl, it's just up in the morning, and no, no, no all day.

But the condition changed.One day an old friend invites Carl to a self-help seminar run by a guru who favors flashy brocade shirts.

Suddenly, as the result of a "covenant" the guru supposedly hexes him with, Carl begins saying yes to everything. In fact, Carl can't say no to anything: He finds himself helplessly ordering up Middle Eastern brides, he treks out enthusiastically to see questionable performance art; he gives rides to thankless bums who ask to borrow his cellphone and then run down the battery.

But as a result of saying yes with so little restraint, he does meet a cute girl: Allison——a singer who rides around on a motorbike dressed in a mod-style black patent leather coat. She also teaches a class that combines yoga with photography! Finally, Carl's life is turning around.
