在我的心目中,《简〃爱》是一部完美而伟大的著作。它以一种不可抗拒的美感吸引了成千上万的读者,影响着我们的精神,启迪着我们的思想,深深的进入到我们的灵魂。 作者夏洛蒂〃勃朗特以其女性独特的视角,将自己的身世、经历、感受,将一切痛苦和欢乐、屈辱和自尊都集中于笔尖。运用了浪漫主义与现实主义相结合的创作方法,成功地塑造了一个敢于反抗、敢于维护自己人格尊严、争取自由平等地位的妇女形象;揭露了英国十九世纪慈善世界的虚伪;批判了金钱万能的资产阶级社会及以金钱为基础的爱情和婚姻。《简〃爱》一直被公认为英国妇女文学的代表作品,夏洛蒂成了当之无愧的妇女解放运动的先驱。

Book Report of Jane Eyre
1. Introduction
1.1 About the Author
Charlotte Bronte is the author of Jane Eyre, who was born in a priest’s family in England in 1816. Because of losing her mother and her father’s poor income, she was sent to a boarding school founded by charity, where the living conditions were as bad as teachers’ attitude. Charlotte’s childhood was very poor, but this also gave her some inspirations.
Due to poverty, young Charlotte began writing novels with her two other sisters. Thanks to their abundant and special experience, their creative enthusiasm burst out. Like magic, three masterpieces come to the world culture history in the same year in the same family. They are Charlotte’s《Jane Eyre》, Emily’ 《Wuthering Heights》and Annie’s 《Edgar nice graham》. And the sisters were famous as “The Family Bronte”.
1.2 The Novel
《Jane Eyre》is a realistic novel with some romantic factors. It is written in a form of protagonist’s narrative. Using a lot of monologue is a outstanding characteristic of the novel. The novel is idea exquisite and the plot is choppy, which give us a macabre atmosphere. The author described protagonists’ pure love and the natural scenery in a very ingenious way, which made the novel beautiful, moving and mysterious.
2. Analysis of Major Characters
2.1 Jane Eyre
Jane was a kind and reflective woman, who lived in the poverty and went through all kinds of difficulties. Her life was sympathetic but her strong mind to pursue equality and happiness was prized. Jane thought that love could only survive on the basis of spiritual equality not social status, money and appearance. In her view, only loves each other can couple obtains happiness. In her way to pursue love, she did not give up her love to Rochester because she was his servant. She loved Rochester because he could treat people equally and treat her like a friend not his wealth. Jane represents women who fight for equality and freedom from the lower class.
2.2 Mr. Rochester
To Rochester, Jane woke him up just like a fresh wind. Rochester had had enough of the unfeeling and sham of the upper class. It was Jane’s simplicity kind and free that arouse his aspire to life. Therefore, he could express his determination to mend his ways.
2.3 Conclusion
The novel criticizes the vision of love on the basis of wealth, and it describes the love
between Jane and Rochester as the tacit agreement at all aspects. It speaks highly of the struggle for freedom equality and happiness from the lower class, which is rare and deserves praise.
