英国女王圣诞讲话：艰难时刻“家庭”很重要

Describing her family's visits to tragedy-hit communities, the Queen said: "We have seen that it is in hardship that we often find strength from our families. It is in adversity that new friendships are sometimes formed. And it is in a crisis that communities break down barriers and bind together to help one another."

miners in an underground disaster。

Each year that passes seems to have its own character. Some leave us with a feeling of satisfaction, others are best forgotten. 2009 was a difficult year for many, in particular those facing the continuing effects of the economic downturn.

It is important to keep discussing issues that concern us all - there can by no more valuable role for our family of nations. I have been closely associated with the Commonwealth through most of its existence.

We know that Christmas is a time for celebration and family reunions; but it is also a
