The flow chart shows the dynamic process of sand dune formation in deserts or on coasts. It involves the

interaction between wind and sand.

In dry deserts or on coasts, there are scattered patches of wet sand where sand dune is grounded on. Wind consistently blows from one direction, accumulating dry loose sand particles on wet sand where relatively higher friction of the land prevents sand moving.

But with stronger wind forces, the mobility of sand increases. While the dry sand continue to pile up, some of them move downwind until they reach another wet piece of ground.

Even with the force of gentle breeze, sand piles on wet land can keep dry grains settle down and hence grow in to dunes. On the lee side, a dune can extend out of the wet ground a few feet due to the shelter of the dune.

Due to the direction and speed of winds as well as the area of wet grounds, dunes are formed in diverse shapes and sizes.

Briefly, the occurrence of some anti-social behaviors can be attributed to the widening income gap.

The radical progress of communication and transportation has revolutionized people’s views and lifestyles. In today’s world, travelling abroad is no longer the privilege for a minority of people. For most of them, travelling abroad can widen their vision and know more about other cultures. It is also a means of entertainment and relaxation for modern people.

But travelling abroad is to some degree demanding especially for those without enough affordability. After all, a journey to other countries tends not to be cost-saving. Meanwhile, for modern people, quickening living pace and working pressure render them less time to travel. That is to say, travelling abroad is not a cheap and flexible way for every individual to know other cultures.

Internet and TV provide an alternative despite some limitations. First, internet and TV are easily accessible for the majority of people. Thus wherever the internet and TV are available, people can get the information such as blogs and pictures quickly. It is comparatively cheaper. In addition, it is of high flexibility. In conclusion, though to support the artists financially by governments is a common practice in some countries, its negative effects are obvious. And to get donation or rewards from the market can maintain artists’ freedom, and helps to produce great works.

Imported food flooding into local market, some people are concerned that it may damage local economy or even cause environmental pollution due to the fuel consumption in transportation. They propose that imported food should be minimized and replaced by local food. I think this proposal is of little feasibility.

There are some assumptions about the imported food. For example, people have an impression that imported food is of high price and usually beyond our affordability. Also, some people believe the long distance transportation of food from other countries will definitely increase the cost and bring about serious environmental pollution. There also exists an opinion that the introduction of foreign food may cause the collapse of local farming, because imported food is, more often than not, of high quality and spectacular diversity.

However, we may find most of them the stereotyped biases against imported food. For example, tariff accounts for a large part of the price.

And high tariff is designed for the protection of local farming. As for the environmental problem, actually today’s transportation means has evolved greatly due to the introduction of containerships. To a certain degree, its transport cost and pollution are much lower than local delivery owing to its high efficiency.

On the other hand, imported food has diversified our market and provided us consumers with more choices. Those food are of high quality and this enhances competition of local food market. To a certain degree, the existence of imported food boosts the development of local farming. In conclusion, in this era of globalization, imported food is just a link of the world economy, and it is an inevitable trend in the coming century. It may cause some problems, but never threatens our economy and survival.

Such diversity sometimes guarantees the harmony of our society and contributes to our development in intelligence and values. The accelerating trend of language disappearance has aroused widespread concern, but little efforts have been made in preventing this trend. The worsening situation necessitates government’s involvement, which may solve the above-mentioned problems. For one thing, federal money can guarantee the operation of some institutions which carry out the business of protection. Even some non-government organizations, they also need financial support to run smoothly. Secondly, to protect local culture belongs to public affairs, which is the government’s priority and duty. Governments’ expenditure should be invested in those projects beneficial for the society and for taxpayers.

Of course, there are some problems in government’s investment in language protection. For example, the investment should be supervised by the public and the transparency should be guaranteed. On the other hand, except the governments’ role, other parts such as NGOs, individuals from all walks of life should participate in the culture saving project. Joint efforts will ensure the brighter prospect of our culture diversity.
