Dear Wang Hai,

I have learnt from your letter that you are very upset because your parents don’t allow you to take a street dance training course at weekends.

I think maybe your parents are worried that your study will be affected if you spend too much time on it. You can have a good talk with your parents and make them get to know the benefits of the training class. For example, the training will build up your body and relax your mind, which will certainly contribute to your better exam results in return. In addition, you can communicate with more people and learn a lot about society. Of course, you must promise your parents that you will not append too much time on it.

I’m sure your parents will agree with you in the end.

Yours,

Li Hua

Should we students go to the restaurant for our birthday? There are two different views. Some students think it provides them with a good chance to comminicate with each other and develop their friendship and they can relax themselves after hard work at school. Last week our class had a heated discussion on whether our school should employ an English teacher from America. Some students are for it, because they think with his or her help we can learn idiomatic English. Besides, we can improve our spoken English and we will be more and more interested in English learning. However, other students think that an American teacher doesn’t know Chinese school education system very well and may not know how to teach Chinese students. And they are also worried that some students can’t understand what an American teacher says well.

范文5:

Recently, a discussion was held in our class on whether it is reasonable for universities to admit students through interviews. Sixty percent of the students think that interviews can help evaluate a student in a more thorough way and encourage students to develop their own personalities. What’s more, with the development of society, a more open and efficient way to admit students is needed. However, the other students say that interviews may be subjective and one-sided, which may leas to unfairness. Besides, not all students are good at showing their talents in interviews, and a student can’t be judged correctly in only three to five minutes.

读写任务2

阅读下面短文,然后按照要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

Snacks can be a good way to stop your hunger and get the vitamins your body needs. But you need to pay attention to what you eat. Choosing healthy snacks means shopping smart. Be careful of the health claims on food packages. Just because something says “all natural” or “pure” it doesn’t always mean it’s good for you. Be careful of low-fat food claims, too. If the fat has been cut back the amount of sugar in the food may have been increased to keep the food tasting good. Many low-fat foods have nearly as many calories as their full-fat versions. Here are some ways to make healthy snacking part of your everyday routine.

*Keep healthy snacks with you. Keep plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables at home, so you can take them with you when you go out.

*Satisfy cravings (渴望) with healthier foods. If you’re crazy about chocolate, try a hot chocolate drink instead of a chocolate bar. Trade ice-cream for yogurt. If you want something salty, eat whole grain biscuits instead of potato chips.

*Pay attention to the amount you eat. As with everything, moderation (适度) is the key to smart snacking.

[写作内容]

1.概括短文的内容要点,该部分的词数大约30词左右;

The author of the passage intends to inform us of the necessity for teens to choose healthy and moderate snacks, which is beneficial to their health. He also suggests to us some ways to make healthy snacking part of our daily life.

As we know, some snacks are high in fat or sugar. Taking too much fat can result in obesity. And most fat people act and react slowly, which has a bad effect on their work and study. Worse still, they are liable to some diseases, such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar, heart trouble and so on.

It’s highly advisable that those who are crazy about snacks should eat snacks when necessary. For example, after you take exercise and feel hungry, you’d better have some healthy snacks, such as fresh fruit, nuts, raisins and so on, which is much enough to add the necessary calories or nutrients.

任务型写作14

阅读下面短文,然后按要求写一篇150词左右的英语短文。

Why are so many people so afraid of failure? It is simply because no one tells us how to fail so that failure becomes an experience that will lead to growth. We forget that failure is part of being human and that every person has the right to fail.

Most parents work hard at either preventing failure or protecting their children from the knowledge that they have failed. One way is to lower standards. A mother describes her child’s carelessly-made table as

“perfect” even though it doesn’t stand still. Another way is to blame something else. If John fails science, it is because his teacher is unfair or stupid.

Success, which encourages repetition of old behavior, is not nearly as good a teacher as failure. Even a failure that seems definitive(决定性的) can cause fresh thinking or a change of direction.

After 12 years of studying ballet, a friend of mine applied to a

professional company. She was turned down. “Would further training help?” she asked. The ballet master shook his head. “You will never be a dancer,” he said. “You haven’t got the body for it.”

In such cases, the way to use failure is to take stock bravely, asking, “What have I left? What else can I do?” My friend put away her shoes and moved into a dance treatment center, a field where she’s both able and useful.

It’s fine to fail

Failure is something people always try to avoid, without realizing that by facing it bravely, it’ll turn out to be great value in helping their growth.

It’s natural and normal that parents stop their children from

experiencing failure. Anyway, it’s been widely accepted that, by means of appreciation and encouragement, children get inspired and tend to learn more. However, this idea ignores an actual fact that life consists of both success and failure. That’s why I believe that too much protection from failure may end up with more pain – it creates an illusive, or fake, world to kids, not a true one.

The ballet girl gives us a good example of how to face her big failure, from which we see clearly what life is really like: the great amount of time that you’ve devoted to your dream may turn out to be something wrong. The only choice you can make is to smile to it, think of what you can do with it, and decide to still go further or change your way of life. If you face it bravely enough, the failure will lead to “fresh thinking”, and possibly your life will turn on a new page.

Can success bring the same good to us? No. Failure is painful, but it makes us learn more about life. There’s no escape, and there’s no need to escape!

Feng Jicai, born in Tianjin in 1942, is a highly accomplished writer, known for his depictions of intellectuals' lives and the historical stories of Tianjin, where he has been living for more than 40 years. In recent years, while serving as executive chairman of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and chairman of the Tianjin Writers Association, Feng has

dedicated most of his time and energy to the preservation of China’s ethnic and folk culture, trying to save the country's vanishing cultural memories. Feng frequently published articles in newspapers, explaining his aims and beliefs to the local residents. He wrote, “Cultural relics are dead, but culture is living in the historical buildings. A city without culture is a city without root.”

In December 1999, Guyi Street, one of the oldest streets in Tianjin, was in the process of being demolished. On this street, built during the Yuan Dynasty, there were many famous shops, such as Qianxiangyi, Ruifuxiang, Shanxi Guild House, and the General Chamber of Commerce of Tianjin. Again, Feng called for volunteers to record the street on videotapes, and collect oral history from local residents. In February 2000, a set of postcards was published with Guyi Street as the theme, attracting long lines of purchasers. With Feng’s efforts, the destruction plan for the street was finally changed, saving some of the buildings there.

Acting on Feng’s proposal, a nationwide heritage rescue program launched a general survey of China's folk cultures in 2003, aiming to catalog village-level art, songs, legends, dress and folk customs before they die off with their practitioners. A wide range of methods were adopted, including text, audio and video recording as well as photography.

Two severe problems in the rescue program were the lack of cultural workers and funds. Feng sold his own paintings twice to raise funds for the foundation to support the investigation of fine arts folk legacies in Yunnan and Guizhou provinces. Besides, he also calls for help from NGOs (非政府组织,非营利性组织) everywhere.

Feng was hired as a consultant of the State Council in 2008 for his outstanding contributions to the work of protecting cultural relics.

[写作内容]

[写作要求]

1. 可以使用实例或其它论述方法支持你的论点, 也可以参照阅读材料的内容, 但不得直接引用原文中的句子;

2. 文中不能出现真实姓名和学校名称; 3. 标题自定。

范文:

Protection of cultural relics The author gives an introduction to Feng Jicai who makes outstanding contributions to the work of protecting cultural relics. With his efforts, more and more people become concerned about protecting cultural relics.

Cultural relics represent historic culture. They tell people what happened in the past and they are the roots of a city or a place. As far as I know, every city is trying to protect its cultural relics. For example, the government makes policies to regulate people’s behavior at the relics and call for people to take actions to save the cultural relics. However, some people have no such awareness or even do harm to the relics. When I was travelling, I could see some cuttings or odd drawings on the historic places. It’s really wicked to do so. I admire what Feng Jicai has done. I learn the importance of protecting cultural relics from him. I think everyone of us should try to do something for the protection of cultural relics. I think the government and schools should teach people more about the protection of cultural relics and the people should mind their behavior when travelling. 读写任务34

The roads are dotted with trash, the railways are littered with decaying garbage and our cities are disgraced by plastic bags. There is no doubt that our cities are on the way towards becoming a huge landfill.

One of the biggest sources of out city pollution comes from the lunch boxes people throw away after finishing their meals. Each day a large number of people will buy their lunch from the cafeteria. It is always served in a soft white box and at the end of lunchtime we have created a “sea of white” empty boxes. These boxes are really a very big problem because it takes many many years to deteriorate. And there are hundreds and hundreds more each day. It is a great pity that many people have got used to throwing away their garbage wherever they like without knowing that their misbehaviors are doing harm to our living environment as well as our own health. This is a problem concerning every one living in the world. Therefore, for the sake of your own health, do not litter.

1.你可以使用实例或其他论述方法支持你的论点,也可以参照阅读材料的内容但不得直接引用原文中的句子;

2.文中不能出现真实的姓名和学校。

范文:

In this passage, the author takes lunch boxes as an example to illustrate that many people have got into the bad habit of littering which leads to the deterioration of our living environment.

Therefore the author calls on everybody to get rid of littering. Obviously, people seem to have got accustomed to finding garbage thrown in the streets, on squares and beside empty dustbins.

In my opinion, the reasons for the bad habit of garbage littering lie in two aspects. On one hand, many people are not aware of their misbehaviors and some people even take it as only a “small” thing that others should not make a fuss over. On the other hand, due to the inadequate facilities of garbage collection, people throw away their refuse everywhere at will.

In view of the severity of the issue, we should adopt immediate measures to deal with it. First of all, the government should play a leading role. It ought to bring in strong anti-littering laws, backed by heavy penalties and effective enforcement. Also, officials should make good use of mass media to promote the public’s awareness of environmental protection, making sure that everyone will become a conscious environment protector. Finally, it is essential for schools to attach importance to environmental education, so that every child will become environmentally friendly and get rid of the littering habit.

In conclusion, people’s littering habit is turning our communities into a rubbish holder. It is high time that we took joint effort to solve the rubbish problem. Otherwise, we will live with rubbish in the future. 任务型写作37

Throughout history man has changed his physical environment in order to improve his way of life. With the tools of technology he has altered(改变)many physical features of the earth. He has transformed(完全改变) woodlands and prairies(大草原) into farms and made lakes and reservoirs out of rivers for irrigation purposes or hydroelectric power. Man has also changed the face of the earth by draining marshes (排干沼泽) and cutting through mountains to build roads and railways.

However, man's changes to the physical environment have not always had beneficial results. Today, pollution of the air and water is an increasing

danger to the health of the planet. Each day thousands of tons of gases come out of the exhausts of motor vehicles. Smoke from factories pollutes the air of industrialized areas and the surrounding areas of the countryside. The pollution of water is equally harmful. The whole ecological balance of the sea is being changed and industrial wastes have already made many rivers lifeless.

Now environmental protection is more pressing than ever before. As we know, massive destruction of environment has brought about negative effects and even poses a great threat to man's existence. Indifference to these problems will mean committing suicide. Therefore, effective measures should be taken and laws passed to conserve environment. Otherwise, man is certain to suffer from the serious consequences caused by this lack of care for his living surroundings.

Although human has improved his living standard by altering the features of the earth, which has brought many benefits as well as harms to the environment. As a result, the environmental protection is more pressing than ever before.

The pollution to the earth are made up of at least seven items, such as paper, plastic, glass, clothes and food waste. Some of them can be reduced by reducing the amount of it or by giving them to some other people who need them. Some of them can be changed to be other things which can be used for another purpose.

Students in our school can also take some actions to reduce the pollution against the earth. We may try to save some paper by writing on both sides

of the paper and write smaller words. We may try to use things to be reused instead of things to be used only once. In order not to increase food waste, we should get our meal according to how much we can have. For clothes which are worn out, we should get them mended and keep wearing them so that we can save our money as well as reduce the resource of waste and pollution. 任务型写作43

In some public toilets in Australia, signs have been put up in Chinese to remind Chinese visitors to wash out the toilet after use. In many scenic spots in foreign countries, similar posters ask Chinese people to speak in softer tones.

In China, there are many rude bus passengers who never wait in line for a bus and push hard onto it the moment the bus stops. There are also witnesses to accidents who fail to lend a hand to others. In Beijing, the residents’ impolite, sometimes rude manners are often noted by visitors from all over the world.

When talking about these phenomena, it is a shame for all of us Chinese people.

“ The success of the 2008 Olympic Games depends very much on showing good manners as on the quality of facilities and players’ performances, ” China’s delegate to the International

Olympic Committee said. “ The fact that some people pay little attention to their manners stands in our way of holding the 2008 Olympic Games successfully.”

Yes, showing our culture and our country’s economic power through this event is important , but good manners should be put at the top of our agenda(议程).

Do Be Polite for ourselves, and for our Country

The passage tells us a phenomenon that many foreign countries have put up signs in Chinese to remind Chinese visitors to behave in good manners. What’s more, the author also indicates that good manners are of great importance to the 2008 Olympic Games.

In my opinion, good manners are not only important to one citizen, but also to the whole country and the nation. I still remember that I once came across a really rude and impolite man. At that time, we were waiting for the same bus and the bus finally came. No sooner had the bus opened its door than he pushed onto it. What’s worse, he knocked down an old man and didn’t even say sorry! It was really rude and even cruel. This incident not only showed how bad manners the man had, but also told us a serious current situation that some of our citizens lack the sense of being polite. If the situation continues, it will be a fatal problem to our 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 Asian Games. So for the sake of our country and the two international Games, do be polite and keep good manners all the time.

China bans free plastic bags CHINA began a crackdown on plastic bags, banning production of thin bags and forbidding supermarkets and shops from handing them out free, Tuesday, June 1, 2008. Chinese people use up to 3 billion plastic bags a day and the country has to refine 5 million tons of oil every year to make plastics used for packaging, according to a report on the Website of China Trade News, and fails to get rid of them properly, wasting valuable oil and littering the country, the State Council said in a notice posted on the Central Government’s Website. “Our country consumes huge amounts of plastic bags every year. While providing convenience to consumers, they have also caused serious pollution, waste of energy and resources, because of too much use and inadequate recycling,” it said. Worries about pollution are growing among ordinary citizens, as years of breakneck growth has a very bad effect on the country’s air and water, but the new ban may not be universally welcomed.

One possible version:

Worrying about environmental issues and a severe waste of resources, China will ban the free plastic bags, but it may not be universally welcomed while they provide convenience to consumers.

I think the ban is good both for us and for the whole world, which can reduce waste and save resources. As we know, oil is non-renewable resource. Overuse of oil will bring us a series of troubles. Overuse of plastic bags will bring us lots of diseases. So, we can not wait to stop using them. Many countries, including those with developed economy, have bitten the bullet and banned plastic bags.

But everything is two-sided. For the time being, people have really got used to using them, and they do give us lots of convenience. If we forbid using plastic bags, we should find ways to solve the problem. We consumers ought to bring cloth bags or shopping baskets instead of plastic bags.

Increasingly, the development of tourism is seen to have an effect on the environment. Erosion ( 腐蚀 ), is one problem. The steps and stones of many popular sites like Shakespears’s birthplace or Stonehenge are literally being own away by millions of foreign feet. The remedy in the case of Britain’s best-known prehistoric monument has been to use railings to keep visitors at a distance, however, where tourist want to enter the actual building.

Overcrowding in cities is another problem Traffic jams are outcome. In narrow roads, tourists vehicles cause congestion ( 堵塞 ). Local traders and residents cannot get around to do their work. Car parks fill up, so strangers park where they can; in streets , across getaways, or in private driveways. This causes obstruction. Thus Venice, a city built for half million people, is swollen by another half million who populate the city daily in the tourist season --- eight million visits each year. The mayor recently decided to limit visits to 90,000 a day.

Pollution is a further result. The lakes are popular for people who enjoy water sports , such as water skiing, power boat racing and swimming, but boat pump sewage directly into the water . Facilities can be used to prevent this happening, but this is costly. There are also problem with litter.

The threat to wild life habitats is yet another result. Tourists around the lakes destroy vegetation.( 植被 ) This is harmful to animals, which build their nests along the shores. Wildlife refuges have been created to protect these natural sites, but they have been attacked by angry owners of hotels who make lucrative profits form bars or renting sun-bed and umbrellas.

范文:

The development of tourism has exerted a negative effect on the environment, leading to erosion traffic congestion , pollution, and disturbed wildlife habitats. And measures to protect the deteriorate environment often prove not practical or economical enough.

These phenomena can also been seen in my home city Shenzhen, which is famous for a lot of attractive scenic spots, such as the China Folk Culture Villages Shenzhen(中国民俗文化村),Splendid China(锦绣中华 ),the Shenzhen Safari Park( 深圳野生动物园 ),Window to the World( 世界之窗 ), Happy Valley( 欢乐谷 ) and so on.

Pollution in these interests is horrible. Rubbish is littering here and there in these places And sometimes there are disposable boxes thrown by many tourists. Some even carve their names or something else in the trunks of the trees, which destroyed the beauty of the spots.

To prevent a further damage on the environment in some scenic spots, some measures should be taken. Because tourist destinations are not only places for us to relax, and enjoy beautiful scenery but also our cultural heritage, so we have to make sincere efforts to protect them. First , we can limit the time and the number of the tourists when tourist destinations are open to the public and at the same time we should pay special attention to the protection of some scenic spots of great historical and cultural significance. Further more, government should take strong measures to prohibit overcommercialization (过渡商业化) in the scenic spots. Most important of all, tourists should be environment-conscious when traveling and makes contribution to protect environment in the tourist destination.
