The importance of governments' influence to our daily life can never be exaggerated. Almost in every sphere of our life, such as economy, education, healthcare, social well- being, government keeps the society functioning well. Some people claim that governments should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology because they believe computer technology can help develop our living standards. However, As far as I am concerned, the government should more focus on basic needs than computer technology, since as we know the fundamental mission of government is to work for the well-being of the whole society.

First of all, In many countries and regions, people are still struggle to live, especially in some African countries. People are suffered with wars, starvation, illness and unhealthy drinking water. Every year tens of thousands people died because of lack of basic healthcare, lack of food and regional conflict, in this situation government should take effort to improve people's basic living condition, thus spent money on their basic need. On the contrary If the majority of money be spent on computer technology, even though computer technology is a amazing tool, however, Peoples living condition can hardly be improved in terms of both short term and long term.

In the second place, Even in some developed countries in Europe or North America, there still a large number of people living in poverty. Some are aged people, some are the ones who lost job in recession. It is the government's duty to help those people get basic need even at the most difficult time. Otherwise those people will continuously suffer the pain and feel frustrated toward the government and society. Only when their basic needs are satisfied, they could be grateful and get ready to contribute to the society. What we want to see is the prosperity of the whole society, not the prosperity for particular field or for certain individuals.

Finally, it is fare to say the computer technology means a lot to the development of our life, but we cannot claim that the government should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology. In the modern world,

Companies rather government play a more crucial role in developing the technology. Some companies we are very familiar with, such as Microsoft, Oracle and IBM etc. they provided us much better product and service based on computer technology than the government.

So, when government decides how to spend the money, the basic need of the people should be considered in the first place.
