篇一 :Gatsby 伟大的盖茨比读后感

Thoughts of “the Great Gatsby”

"The Great Gatsby" was written by Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, who was born in Sao Paulo, Minnesota in America.

Published in nineteen twenty-five, "The Great Gatsby" was set in the nineteen twenties in New York City and on Long Island. It was regarded as the symbol of "Jazz Age" of American literature and it is now considered as one of the greatest modern American novels.

The novel is started by Nick’s statement. Nick, who was regarded as Gatsby’s only confidant and was the witness to the glitz that ultimately reflects emptiness and selfishness in the American society, but not success .

According to Nick, we can gradually know the venation of the story between Gatsby and Daisy. Gatsby was born in penury, however, he was ambitious and later became rich because of bootlegging. Virtually, the reason why Gatsby had been dying for fortune and power was Daisy’s betrayal. And Daisy, who was Gatsby’s lover when Gatsby served with the colours. Obviously, Daisy impressed herself into Gatsby’s heart during that time. But then Daisy put away Gatsby heartless and married Tom, who was a fairly rich man at that time. However, Gatsby could no forget Daisy all the time, and it had become Gatsby’s dream that he believed he can draw Daisy’s heart back if he can possess a huge amount of money. 篇二 :《伟大的盖茨比》、《The Great Gastby》

Every American has a dream in their deep heart, it is American Dream. It’s a dream that they believe they will be able to achieve the ideal of a better life if they work through their own hard work, courage, creativity and determination during a hard struggle, rather than rely on specific social classes and other assistance.

Some brilliant people who saw the reality much more clearly had pointed out that the American Dream may not always be simple and it may always remain tantalizingly out of reach for some Americans, make it more like a cruel joke than a genuine dream. Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald is one of those brilliant people, he wrote The Great Gatsby to describe the cruel reality of the 20th century.

The key character, Gatsby, had fallen in love with Daisy in 1917 as an Army Lieutenant stationed near Daisy’s hometown, Louisville. At that time, he was very poor , he came back after the war and made a lot of money from illegal activities. Gatsby bought his mansion near Daisy and Tom, where he hosted parties everyday hoping she would visit. During the parties, the crows hardly knew their host, even many came and went

篇三 :What Makes The Great Gatsby Great?

What Makes The Great Gatsby Great?

Fitzgerald is one of the most important novelists in America in the 20th century. His masterpiece, The Great Gatsby established his status as the embodiment of the spirit of the Jazz Age in American literature. The author skillfully uses his imagination to give the deeper meaning to this love tragedy: destruction of the American dreams. Besides, successfully using the double-mastered writing style, he put his own experience and the individual part of his personality into his works, interpreted the American teenagers’ common mentality and his own point of view towards the world and recurred the outlook of American Jazz Age. It is so vivid that we cannot even figure out whether it’s just a novel or a real life.

Being a transitional period of prosperity from tradition to modern after World War 1, the Jazz Ages saw varied women groups which are focused on money and marriage. In this age, the capitals have accumulated in a fast speed, consumer consciousness soared, people are urgent to manifest themselves immediately and do things unconventionally or unorthodoxly. “I understand that you are looking for a business gonnegtion.”(p76)that the sentence by Mr. Wolfshiem said to Nike. It indicates that it is a money world. In the world of old and new, the traditional convention has been shackled and been changed quickly. In Jazz Age, this novel discusses how females balance money and marriage in a much more open way. More

The tragic man.

The tragic man----about the Great Gatsby In the eye of Nick or most readers, Gatsby is great. As a child, he dreamed of wealth and luxury, and he has attained them with his own power. But as for me, Gatsby is great, for his tragedy.

In the whole life of Gatsby, he has persued two things, one is spiritual comfort, Daisy; the other is materialism. However, what he is always longing for, at last, becomes illusions.

Five years ago, Gatsby felt helplessly in love with Daisy when he was a young officer in WWI. But Daisy married Tom for his wealth. Since then, Gatsby decided to win his love and his success in whatever ways. But the glamour and excitement of American life has affected Daisy a lot. She has become materialistic, vain and selfish. Gatsby has made a wrong choice at first for his “want” never exists.

篇七 :THE GREAT GASTBY

《THE GREAT GATSBY》

《THE GREAT GATSBY》is a famous work written by Francis Scott Fitzgerald, widely regarded as one of the greatest American writers of the 20th century. It was published in 1925, establishing his position in the history of modern American literature. The writer is regarded as a spokesman and one of the representatives of the "lost generation" writers. Unfortunately he died of heart attack at a young age of 44. But sometimes I thinkit may be a relief for him. After all, he had suffered a lot after being infected with lung disease and addicted with alcoholic.

I think the book tells me a story about love, dream, success and coldness. Gatsby, the hero of this novel, fell in love with an attractive woman named Daisy. However he was too poor to marry her, whose family was noble and rich. But he never forgot her so he tried to change his fate by seizing any possible opportunity. Fortunately he ultimately made it and returned to look for his goddess. 1from page 65 ○
