ladies and gentlemen , good afternoon! i‘m very glad to stand here and give you a short speech. today my topic is ―youth‖. i hope you will like it , and found the importance in your youth so that more cherish it.

first i want to ask you some questions:

1、do you know what is youth?

2、how do you master your youth?

youth

youth is not a time of life, it is a state of mind ; it is not rosy cheeks , red lips and supple knees, it is a matter of the emotions : it is the freshness ; it is the freshness of the deep springs of life .

youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity of the appetite , for adventure over the love of ease. this often exists in a man of 60 more than a boy of 20 . nobody grows old merely by a number of years . we grow old by deserting our ideals.

We Are The World ,We Are The Future

Someone said “we are reading the first verse of the first chapter of a book, whose pages are infinite”. I don’t know who wrote these words, but I’ve always liked them as a reminder that the future can be anything we want it to be. We are all in the position of the farmers. If we plant a good seed ,we reap a good harvest. If we plant nothing at all, we harvest nothing at all.

We are young. “How to spend the youth?” It is a meaningful question. To answer it, first I have to ask “what do you understand by the word youth?” Youth is not a time of life, it’s a state of mind. It’s not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips or supple knees. It’s the matter of the will. It’s the freshness of the deep spring of life.

A poet said “To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower, hold infinity in the palm of your hand, and eternity in an hour. Several days ago, I had a chance to listen to a lecture. I learnt a lot there. I’d like to share it with all of you. Let’s show our right palms. We can see three lines that show how our love.career and life is. I have a short line of life. What about yours? I wondered whether we could see our future in this way. Well, let’s make a fist. Where is our future? Where is our love, career, and life? Tell me.Yeah, it is in our hands. It is held in ourselves.

1.成长是需要时间的。你惟一要做到的是，看准了目标以后，充满耐心地，充满了坚韧不拔的精神往前走，这就是我们成长的过程。

2.我们人的生活方式有两种：第一种是像草一样活着，你尽管活着，每年还在成长，但是你毕竟是一棵草，你吸收雨露阳光，但是长不大，人们可以踩过你，但是人们不会因为你的痛苦而他产生痛苦，人们不会因为你被踩了而来怜悯你，因为人们本身就没有看到你！所以我们每一个人都应该像树一样的成长，即使我们现在什么都不是，但是只要你有树的种子，即使被人踩到泥土中间，你依然能够吸收泥土的养分，自己成长起来，也许两年三年你长不大，但是十年八年二十年你一定能长成参天大树，当你长成参天大树以后，遥远的地方人们就能看到你，走近你，你能给人一片绿色，一片阴凉，你能帮助别人，即使人们离开你以后，回头一看，你依然是地平线上一道美丽的风景线，树活着是美丽的风景，死了依然是栋梁之才，活着死了都有用，这就是我们每一个人做人的标准和成长的标准。

3.凡是想要一下子，把一件事情干成的想法的人，就算他干成这件事情，他也没有基础，因为等于是沙滩上造的房子，最后一定会倒塌，只有慢慢地一步一步把事情干成的，每一步都给自己打下了坚实的基础，每一步都给自己一个良好的交代，再重新向未来更高去走一步的人，他才能够把事情真正地做成功。

4.你到底什么最喜欢，应该去做什么，当你决定了一辈子干什么以后，你就要坚定不移地干下去，就不要随便地换，你可以像一条河流一样，越流越宽阔，但是千万不要再想去变成另外一条河流，或者变成一座高山。

5.我们未来生活最重要的一个能力，叫做忍辱负重的能力，很多社会名流会遇到很多很多你不能忍受的事情，但是你不得不忍受，而不忍受就不可能成功，为什么？因为你不忍辱负重，你就没有时间，你就没有空间，没有走向未来的空间，如果你想走向未来，最后变得更加强大更加繁荣，你就必须要做好给自己留下足够的时间和空间，轮到我们自己的生命要想为一个伟大目标而奋斗的时候，你排除，也得必须排除你生命中一切琐碎的干扰，因此你就必须忍辱负重！个人也是一样的，你要想有伟大的大发展，你得为自己争取时间，争取空间，争取未来，而争取时间争取空间争取未来的一个最重要的前提就是，你有理想！但是你敢于忍受生活中出现的一切对你的不公平，或者是一切对你的你认为受不了的事情！

There is a poem written by Langston Hughes Hold fast to dreams,

Frozen with snow. How beautiful it is. Yes, we shouldn’t give up our dreams. We shouldn’t give in to the large pressure on the way to realize our dreams.

There is a group of graduated students called “school-drifters”. According to China Daily, the number of the “school-drifters” had reached 100,000 as long ago as 2005; the number is of course increasing over the years. Living on school resources is a way of cutting living costs. Living close is convenient and familiar. But the real reason for this phenomenon is the intense conflict between the real world and their ideals. The notion “Anybody coming back home without achievements is a loser.” together with a too-high expectation from parents make them dare not go home and speak out their real situation. Enter grad school, find a better job, stay in big cities are their good wishes. Though the reality is cruel, they can realize them step by step.
