One point that the author claimed in the article, Engineering Education, stimulates my interest.

This sentence is ‘there is certainly nothing wrong with students enjoying the race, but it is unfortunate indeed if the pedagogical opportunity is missed to introduce the joys of design and to inform students that they are engaging in engineering, something that they might spend their lives enjoying, if only they take enough math and science to satisfy admission requirements for an engineering school.’ I absolutely agree with the author. In the author’s opinion, we must take enough math and science before we learn real knowledge of engineering, in addition, it’s necessary to develop children’s joys of design which can augment children’s consciousness of innovation and make children like the engineering.

Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story (风雨哈佛路)

Hellow everyone :

Today I will give a speech about the film Homeless to Harvard: The Liz Murray Story!

If there are really a movie that can’t be missed, I think it is this. I felt I was so lucky when I finished watching it because this film really gave me much.

She is called Liz, she is not a normal person like her families, at least she herself holds this opinion. Her parents are both drug addicts ,at the same time ,her mother is a drunkard(酒鬼). No one can talk about his or her birth with the God, including Liz. She was born in a family with no money, no hope or anything else about happiness. She has never been cared for by her parents! Even she usually has no food to eat, no clothes to change, let alone books to read. But she does not hate them at all, for all of her life. In this film we can see how she loves her families. She takes care of her sick mother at an age that she should be taken care of. As she says, it seems that her mother were more like her baby.

At the first, this article gives an example of the following. A dog will turn nasty when it sees someone it doesn’t know, even if the person haven’t badly treated it in the past. On the contrary, when it sees someone familiar, even though it has never been at all well treated by him, it will welcome him.

Thus it can be seen, love of learning and love of wisdom is one thing. And they start to launched a discussion about education.

My favorite sentence in the article is “you are aware that it is the beginning of any undertaking which is the most important part-especially for anything young and tender.” Generally speaking, this is the time when each individual thing can be most easily moulded, and they will account everything you give and become what you would like to see. This is what we usually call First impression are strongest.

From the early autumn of 1936 to spring of 1939, the Spanish Civil War, forgotten by modern people, had become the old history. However, actually, it was the prelude of the European front of World War Two, and was the first battle between the world's progressive forces and the regime of Germany and Italy fascist. Because of great many complicated historical reasons, the progressive forces failed in the war. There are few of literature works reflecting the periodical history, and For Whom the Bell Tolls is the only book which is respected and read.

For Whom the Bell Tolls is the longest novel of Hemingway, but the plot of the novel is limited to three days (on a Saturday afternoon to Tuesday morning in the end of May 1937), and it is very compact. At that time, due to the march of government forces near the capital of the northeast city of Guadalajara trounced the Italian army, the capital has turned the corner. Gore general then was preparing an attack to their enemies in the northeast of the capital of Guadalajara. In order to cut off the reinforcement of enemies, Robert Jordan as a volunteer was sent to the depth of mountain and got touch with guerrillas. As soon as the fighting started, they smashed the railway bridge. At the beginning of the book, it describes that the old guidance Ansel Mo with Jordan went to bridge post reconnaissance, then heading for guerrilla camp. The old man found out Pablo, the leader of that team. Jordan communicated with him immediately, and the contradiction was carried step by step. Pablo was a coper before, supplying horses for unit and bullring. Later he met Fini’ mistress when he was a helper in bullring. After Fini was killed by cattle, Bilal stayed with Pablo. When the revolution broke out, Pablo lead people surrounding the civil defense, and arrested all the fascists, put them all to death.
