The summary report of The Patriot
This semester,we watched the movie named "The Patriot".It's very touching for me.The story was happened in 1870s,the beginning of the Independence War of America.
In the 1850s，Washington.Jefferson and numerous other founders
acknowledged that slavery was incompatible with the principle that all men are created equal and it still required a terrible Civil War to abolish the
contradiction between principle and practice. But without the commitment the Founders had made to the proposition that all men are created equal, it would have been impossible to mobilize a national majority against slavery.
On the background,The Patriot distills the essence（本质） of the nobility, sacrifice, and suffering necessary to found and keep such a Republic. In the movie, Benjamin Martin, a French-Indian war hero who is haunted by his past, is a patriot who wants no part in a war with Britian. Meanwhile, his two eldest sons, Gabriel and Thomas, can't wait to go out and kill some Redcoats. When South Carolina decides to go to war with Britain, Gabriel immediatly signs up to fight...without his father's permission. But soon, Colonel Tavington, British solder infamous for his brutal tactiks, captures Gabriel and sentences him to be hanged. As Gabriel is taken away, Thomas tries to free him, only to be killed by Tavington, in front of Benjamin. Now, seeking revenge for his son's death, Benjamin leaves behind his 5 other children to bring independence to the 13 colonies.
First of all,I learn that the Americans overcame much hardship for the freedom. There was an irregular troop.Even the pastor of church also set forth to battle and he would read one “God to bless” before his murder .At last the pastor?s final sacrifice also had actually been full of the tragedy color.
In addition to,as we all known,the White and the Black had ever too big
contradiction in the American history .However in this movie a white said to his black slavery: “Fighting side-by-side with you is my honor.” From here we can see that the black also made the contribution to the American Revolution, so they were also the American history inventors.
The last but not least, Benjamin Martin is not only a hero,but also a grate father. At the beginning, he refused to join the war because he hate the cruel war,and he wished his family,his children can live under the peaceful circumstance. When the English army threatened his families and killed one of his son,he
suddenly realized that the only way to protect his family is to try his best to defend the nation's freedom. Experically touching me was the scene that colonel's father and his little daughter's farewell section. The daughter ?s understanding affected to the father and then both turned around to hug tightly.Then I can?t help missing my father.My father give me too much last 20 years and to date I have been the apple of my father’s eyes, so I am guilty not to hug him now.
Maybe It?s wonderful to fight for the freedom if we can ignnore the cruelty of the war.God bless all the fathers,all the families like in the patriot .
