To be honest, I first contacted with accounting when I was a little girl. Then I fell in love with accounting, which could be traced back to my family background. Both working in accounting industry, my parents are very glad that I show a great interest in accounting.
As I grew older, I found that the number of occupations about accounting and finance were becoming more and more. Choosing to get an accounting profession or a financial occupation in the future is a wonderful and easy goal to achieve. I actually know that in order to make my goal become true, I need to broaden my horizons as well as getting more professional knowledge about it.
In order to getting dynamic concepts and practice about accounting and financial, I naturally plan to seek a better education opportunity in the United Kingdom, where have the excellent chances of researchers and practices.
Actually, I was an English major when I first get into my university. Fortunately, keeping myself among Top 10% during the first two years, I owned the chance to change my major. When my teachers and friends asked me which major I would choose this time, I told them without hesitation that I would choose accounting. Thus, I become a student of accounting major when I was a junior student. I am very glad that I took a big step closer to my financial dream.
In the last two years of my undergraduate education, I took a lot of courses about accounting. For example, I learnt intermediate and senior financial accounting, the financial accounting and the cost of management accounting. I clearly understand that I am not satisfied with getting the knowledge of accounting from textbooks. To become more professional, I read some financial magazines such as financial times and keep listening BBC news when I am free. What’s more, I chose financial as a second major which was responsible by the provincial education office. In my second major, I also took a large number of financial courses. The financial markets and the international financial are two typical courses of it.
Because of the practical experience of accounting from my parents, I deeply know that learning knowledge on textbooks only is not enough. The theory of accounting and financial is quite different from practice. If I want to adapt to accounting faster in the future, it is quite important to practice before I graduated. Summer internship is a wonderful way to increase my experience of accounting. Though in the first summer I distributed leaflets, I went to two public accounting firms for one is Suzhou branch of Jiangsu notarization day industry certified public accountants, the other is Suzhou fangben certified public accountants in the next two summers,. The summer internship experience of the second public accounting firm made me more impressive, which happened in my third summer holiday. Because I had learnt some knowledge on textbooks for a year, this experience seemed be more useful. At the first two days of this summer internship, I watched the accounting statements, which accounting balance sheet, profit statement, each accounting details and so on. The leader of the public accounting firm told me that I need to understand the sources of each amount of money, which could be traced back to each accounting details. The duty of the public accounting firm is to review correctness of accounting and then
issue the audit reports. As a result, working in the public accounting firm is quite different from working in the company.
Teamed up with my accounting staff, I practiced my skill of what I learnt in the university. I double checked all the customs clearance of a machinery factory, which contained the goods and materials in the road at an accounting period. Besides, I spot check the accounting documents and wrote down the name of attachments clearly, which was done in another company. What’s more, I also fixed some assets of this company by myself as well as watched the cash inventory by my accounting staff. Though I did was the most basic work of the public accounting firm, I peek at the tip of the iceberg, which made the preparation for the future. When my accounting staff asked me to sign my name on the paper which was the statement of fixed the assets, I realized the responsibility of doing everything in a flash. We need to be responsible for everything we did, especially in the public accounting firm. They should be responsible for the audit reports which were be issued for these audit reports have the legal effects.
Through several experience of accounting and financial, I improved my academic skills and broaden my horizons.
