Module 1 WELCOME BACK!
Unit1 Where are you from?
Step 1.Warming up
1) 先做一下自我介绍,引出话题:Hello, boys and girls. First let me tell you something about myself. My name is… and I’m from… Can you guess which lesson I liked best when I was still a student?
2) Ask the students the following questions:
Can you tell me what’s your name?
Where are you from?
How old are you?
And when’s your birthday?
Which lesson do you like best? Why?
让学生了解一些自我介绍的句子。
Step2. Presentation and practice
1) Play the tape of the dialogue. The students listen to the dialogue and let the students find out the questions from the dialogue.
然后,让学生自己归纳一下自我介绍的句子.
最后,教师自己总结, e.g: --- What’s your name? --- xxx.
--- Where are you from? --- I’m from …
--- How old are you? --- I’m …
--- When’s your birthday? --- It’s on …
--- What’s your favourite lesson? --- I like …
2) After the students get to know the main structures to make a self-introduction, practise the questions and answers in the dialogue first. Then listen to the tape and repeat. Give the students a few more minutes to practise the dialogue and ask a few students to read out the dialogue in different roles.
Step 3 Further presentation and practice.
Ask the students: What other words about subjects do you know?
Let the students list them on the blackboard,
e.g. Chinese, English, Maths, P.E. Music, Computer, Art, etc.
Let the students make up a new dialogue in groups of four according to the basic structures and words listed on the blackboard. Then ask some groups to report to the class. The teacher gives some help if necessary.
Step 4 Pronunciation.
Listen and say
1) Ask the Ss to read the sentences silently to themselves.
2) Play the tape, Ss point and repeat.
Practise reading aloud the words in bold. Pay attention to the differences between them.
Step 5 Listening and practice
Play the tape for the students to listen to and complete the exercise.
Check the answers with the whole class.
Step 6. Task
Divide the students into groups and let them ask each other questions given in the form in part 4 to get more familiar with the structures in this unit.
Then get the students to ask and answer in the whole class.
Step 7. Homework
Revise the structures to give a self-introduction.
Revise the vocabulary on subjects.
Unit 2 Today is the first day at school after the holidays.
Step 1. Revision
1) Check the homework.
2) Revise the sentence structures and words learned in the first unit.
Step 2. Presentation and practice
1) 以一系列的问题引出话题:Today is the first day at school after the holidays, and I want to write a letter to a friend of mine. Can you tell me what I can write in the letter?
Collect information from the students and list it on the blackboard, e.g., greetings, what you did in the holiday, what happens in the new term, etc.
2) Play the tape of the dialogue. The students listen to the dialogue and let the students find out what are listed in the letter.
3) Listen to the tape again and answer the questions given.
4) Play the tape for the students to listen to and follow to get familiar with the passage and the
structures related.
Step 3 Further presentation and practice.
The students ask each other the following questions in groups of four:
1) When do you have English lessons?
2) What do you do on Mondays?
3) How many computer lessons do you have?
4) What time do you have lunch?
然后鼓励学生对问题加以改变再进行全班性的相互提问, e.g.
1)When do you have Chinese lessons?
2)What do you do on Tuesdays?
3)How many P.E. lessons do you have every week?
4)What time do you have supper? etc.
Step 4. Listening and practice
Read the words about subjects together.
Play the tape for the students to listen to and complete the timetable.
Check the answer with the whole class.
Step 5. Reading and writing
1) Read the words given in the form.
2) Ask some students to make up a sentence using the subjects given, e.g., On Mondays we
have English lessons in the first period. The rest of the class discusses the sentence and correct the mistake if there’s any.
3) The students are divided into groups of four and discuss the content of the letter. Then ask
some to report. The rest students discuss the problems in the reports and correct them if possible. And the teacher gives them help when necessary. And last, the students write down the letter.
Step6. Homework
Let the students check their own writing carefully. Then exchange the writings in groups, find out the mistakes and correct them if possible.
Unit 3 This is the dinning hall.
Step 1 Revision
1)抽取部分小组,汇报小组成员作文情况。
2) 以小组竞赛的形式复习所学的有关课程的词汇。
Step 2. Presentation and practice
通过下列问题复习学校建筑各部分的名称。
如:1. Where can we go if we want to borrow a book?
2. Where do we have dinner?
3. Where can we go if we want to do some experiments?
4. Where do we play basketball? etc.
Listen to the tape and write down the correct number.
Check the answer with the whole class.
Step 3. Pronunciation
Listen to the tape and repeat. Pay attention to the pronunciation of the combination of “ fl ” and “ fr ” and the teacher can give help if necessary.
Step 4. Working in pairs
The teacher chooses one word or phrase from both the columns “ place ” and “ action ”, e.g., “ school hall ” and “ singing ”,and acts them out. Let the students guess what the two words / phrases are.
Then ask one student to come to the blackboard and choose one word or phrase from both the columns and act them out. The rest of the class tries to get the words in teams. One word one point.
The team that gets the highest point wins the game.
Step 5. Completing the sentences
Read through the exercise. The teacher and the students complete the first description together like this:
e.g., T --- Can you guess where they are? S--- I think they are in the park.
T--- What are they doing? S--- They are playing football.
And explain the problems.
The students complete the second description and check the answer in groups.
The students complete the third and fourth description and check the answers with each other. Last, the teacher explains the difficult points.
Unit 4 I hope you get better soon.
Step 1. Presentation and practice
1) Show the students some pictures related to their life,e.g., sports, lessons, clothes, animals, school buildings and so on, and let the students give out words or structures.
2) Listen and match.
Ss listen to the tape and match what they hear to the pictures.
Play the tape and check their answers.
Step 2. Reading and writing
1) Reading and writing
The students read through the passage in part 2. The teacher and students complete the first blank together as a demonstration.
Then the students complete the rest and check the answers with each other and discuss the problems.
After that, check the answers with the whole class and the teacher explains the difficult points.
2) Writing
Ask a few students to describe the topics given in part 3 and discuss the problems.
The students discuss the topics in groups and write them down in the exercise book. Then ask some to report to the class. The rest students give their opinion about the reports. Then the teacher makes comments about the reports.
Step 3. Task
1) Let the students read the timetable carefully and ask them: Do you have a timetable like this?
2) Then ask several students to describe their weekend according to the sample.
3) After that, encourage the rest to report their own activities at the weekend to each other in
groups of four.
Step 4. Homework
1) Look at the pictures carefully and revise the vocabulary on country and nationality.
2)课外进一步强化自我介绍的用法,并积累可用来描述学习和活动的词汇。
