It is New Year's Eve.
The streets are covered with snow.
There is a little girl on the street. She sells matches.
"Matches, matches!" She shouts and shouts all day!
But no one buys any matches.

The little match girl sees a family through the window.
They are in their warm house.
"Here is a New year’s card for you. Happy New Year!" says a girl.
"Oh, thank you. Happy New Year, too!" say her father and mother.
They sing together. They enjoy their New Year's party.

"I want to be in the warm house. I want to enjoy the party.
Here it is so cold," cries the little girl. She is very poor. She wears an old dress. Her shawl is very old, too.
They do not keep out the cold.

Snow falls again on the street.
The little girl pulls the shawl over her head. The ground is frozen.
The little girl's feet are bare.
She has no shoes and no socks. She lifts her feet up.

The little girl rubs her hands together. But she isn't warm at all.
She is so cold, hungry and lonely!
"Oh, what can I do? No one cares for me! Mom, Grandma, I miss you," she cries.

New Year's Eve is so cold.
The little match girl wants to go home. But her father will beat her
if she doesn't sell any matches.
"Go out and sell the matches.
Bring me the money,”
he will shout.

The little girl's fingers
are stiff from cold.
She cannot feel her
fingers!
She wants to warm her
hands.
She takes out a match and she
lights it.
"What a warm flame!" exclaims the little girl. She warms her hands over the fire. She looks into the flame. It dances with warmth.

The heat gets stronger and stronger. “It’s magic!
There is a stove in the match
flame!
And the stove has a big fire,”
the little girl exclaims.
She holds out her hands to
the heat
She can feel much warmth.

Suddenly the match flame goes out! The warm stove is gone!
"Oh, no! Where is the stove?"
cries the little girl.
It is getting darker and darker.
It is colder and colder.

The little match girl lights another match. This time more magic happens!
There is a beautiful table. And it is full of delicious food.
"Great! There are some turkey, potatoes and pies! Hot chocolate looks so nice, too!"

The little girl wants delicious food.
She holds out her hands.
But then the match dies and the magic fades. Poor little girl! Her eyes are full of tears.

The little girl lights another match again. Now it is even more wonderful!
There is a Christmas tree! It has lots of candles It has tinsel between the candles, too.
Red, blue, white and yellow balls hang from the tree.

"What a beautiful Christmas tree!"
exclaims the little girl.
But the flame gets smaller and smaller. And finally it dies
Look! But the lights of
the Christmas candles stay!
They rise higher and higher,
Then they become the stars.

Suddenly one of the stars falls.
It makes a long line of fire.
“Someone will die,” says the little girl. She remembers her dead grandmother. Her grandmother used to say,
"When a star falls, someone dies!”

The little match girl lights another match. Then an amazing thing happens.
Her grandmother is standing in front of her! She is wearing a white nightgown.
"Oh, Grandma, I miss you so much!" cries the little girl.

Quickly the little girl lights another match. She doesn't want to lose her grandmother. Her grandmother smiles at the little girl. Her eyes are warm and kind.
The little girl runs to her and hugs her. "Stay with me!
I don't want to be lonely and cold again!"

The little girl lights the rest of the matches.
"Grandma, take me with you!" the Iittle girl cries "When the match goes out, you will go away. You will go away like the warm stove,
the nice turkey and the beautiful Christmas tree!' Grandmother holds up the little girl.
Together they fly so high, so high!

Next morning the sun shines on the cold street. "Poor little girl!" say the people.
The little match girl is dead.
She died on New Year's Eve.
But there is a smile on her face.
Maybe her smile says," I saw wonderful things. They were great.
Now I am in a place of no cold and no hunger.’’

《卖火柴的小女孩》是《安徒生童话》里的一个“经典”故事。今天我翻开《安徒生童话》的第一页就看到了《卖火柴的小女孩》这篇童话，于是我津津有味地看起来，看完这悲惨的故事，不知不觉中我已泪流满面。
这可怜的小女孩多么需要我们的关爱，在除外之夜，在寒冷和黑暗中，她拖着一双冻得又红又肿的脚在雪地上走，她不敢回家，因为她没有卖掉一根火柴，没赚到一个铜板，她怕父亲生气。
看到这里我不能理解卖火柴的小女孩的生活！只知道我上过幼儿园，每天早晨像小鹿一样，蹦蹦跳跳的去上幼儿园，老师教我们如何交朋友，下午的点心是蛋糕。记得也是冬天，天气特别冷，我穿上毛线衣、羊毛衫、羽绒服像个小猪。妈妈还怕我冷，给我又穿上了一件羽绒服背心，穿上多暖和！爸爸怕我迟到，赶忙跨上电动车，把我送到校门口。
墙角里，小女孩一次次地擦亮火柴，幻想着“温暖的火炉、香喷喷的烤鸭、美丽的圣诞树、慈祥的奶奶。”这对于可怜的小女孩只是幻想而已，现实中小女孩的生活里只有寒冷、饥饿、痛苦和孤独。我从小就生活在蜜罐温床里，可以说是不愁吃、不愁穿，但我还不知足，总是要这要那，父母也总是满足我的要求。那时我怎么没有想到卖火柴的小女孩呢？
读完了这篇文章，我心里充满无限的幸福感。在这个世界上，我们是生活在幸福而快乐的家庭里的孩子，我们有父母的疼爱、有老师的关爱、有同学间的友爱??。想想卖火柴小女孩，我们是多么的幸福啊！我们应珍惜这幸福快乐的童年，好好地学习知识，学习本领，去圆我们五彩缤纷的梦。
