Little women

The March family had four girls, and they were Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy. Their father was away at the war in the South. Because the March family was poor and the bring up of four girls was a big load to their mother, the four girls tried to do something to help the family. Meg and Jo found a part-time job. Beth and Amy tried their effort to do some housework.

The occasion of Christmas, the four girls of March family decided that they would all try very hard to be good. They would never be cross, or lazy, or selfish—and they would all help each other. Meg was the oldest one and she was determined to no longer complain about the work was bad and no beautiful clothes to wear. Jo was determined not to argue and got angry with people, not run around like a boy, tried to be a young lady. Shy Beth would try hard to become brave. Little Amy would care less about herself and more about others.

The four girls helped and loved each other, and they loved their mother and father very much. For example, when Jo said:”the slippers are old, and mother needs a new pair.” the four girls all argued that she should buy a new pair for their mother. The four girls bought Christmas present to their mother and not bought anything for theirselves. When Mrs March need money to visit her

husband, Jo sold her lovely, thick, long hair and said:” don?t cry, Beth, I wanted to do something for father, and selling my hair was the only thing I could think of doing. I?ll soon have a curly head again, which will be short and easy to keep tidy.” But later, when Beth and Amy were asleep and Meg was lying awake, she heard Jo crying about her hair.

My family also has four girls, but we argue and fight and agony our parents often. Why the four girls got along with each other and loved their parents? The education way of Mr& Mrs March contributed this.

The letter from Mr March said:”give them all my love and a kiss. I think of them every day. I know they will be loving children to you, and that when I come back, I will be prouder than ever of my little women.” The letter was full of miss, pride and compliment to his daughters. After Mr March came home, he said:” I remember when this hand was white and smooth. It was pretty then, but to me it?s much prettier now. I?m proud of this hard-working hand, Meg.” He smiled and looked at Jo sitting opposite.” her hair may be short, but I see a young lady now. Her face is thin and white from worrying, but I?m sure I?ll love the warm-hearted woman who has taken her place.” “She?s not as shy as she used to be,” said her father lovingly, and he held Beth close when he rememberd how near they had

come to losing her. Then he looked down at Amy by his feet.” I?ve noticed today that Amy has helped everyone patiently and with a smile. She?s learned to think more about other people, and less about herself.”

Mrs March was of generosity, helpfulness, not easily provoked, Thanksgiving life. In the children's eyes, she was not only a good mother, but their close friends. They like to confide trouble to Mrs. March, and Mrs. March gave them good advice and help. For instance, though the March family was poor, when Mrs March knew not far away was a poor woman, Mrs Hummel, she advised the four girls to give the Hummel family their breakfast as a Christmas present, and took after of Hummel?s children. When Mrs March?s four girls did something wrong, she would listened, smiled and said nothing and didn?t complain, but she laughed to herself afterwards. She thought a kind word always helps. Jo said:” we must do our work with a smile, the way mother does.” from which we can see that Mrs March?s attitude toward work had an influence on her four girls?. Jo said:” I get angry so quickly. Oh, why can?t I be more like you?” “I get angry nearly every day of my life, Jo,” said Mrs March, “but I?ve learned not to show it. I?ve learned to stop myself saying the angry words that come to my lips, and you must try to do the same, my dear.” I was influenced by Mrs March?s three sayings. First, “No, Jo,

you must never repeat wicked gossip. All mothers have ?plans”, but my plans are different from Mrs Moffat?s, I suspect. I want my daughters to be loved, and I want people to think well of them. I want them to marry well, but not to marry rich men just because they are rich. I?d rather you were poor men?s wives, if that meant you had happy, peaceful lives. But your father and I believe that we?ll always be proud of our daughters, whether they are married or single.” Second, “all play and no work is as bad as all work and no play.” Third, “don?t make plans, Jo. Let time and their own hearts bring your friends together.”

I was influenced by the novel?s describing. Such as” how dark the days seemed. How sad and lonely. The sisters worked and waited as the shadow of death lay over the once happy home. It was then that Meg realized how rich she had been in the things which really mattered—love, peace, good health. “there were probably many happy little girls in the city that day, but Amy was the happiest of them all as she sat on her mother?s knee” “Meg, meanwhile, was busy getting things ready for her father?s return, but a change suddenly seemed to come over her. For a day or two, she jumped when she was spoken to, and there was a worried look on her face.”

What I have learnt most is how parents educate their children.

First, the parents need to trust and love each other. Second, the parents need to set good examples for children to follow. Third, the parents need to praise more than complain to children.

摘录

One is the happiest thing is that somebody loves you.?When you are at my time, I absent-minded.When I come to you, when you have gone.?We are always in a meeting to miss, losing a lot of.?However, I want to say this is because we are still young.?No, perhaps this is our life.?From then on, I always looked back the road. "All mothers do, dear, "said Mrs.March. ' But my plans are different from Mrs. Moffat's, I suspect. I want my daughters to be loved, and I want people to think well of them. I want them to marry well, but not to marry rich men just because they are rich. I'd rather you were poor men's wives, if that meant you had happy, peaceful lives. But your father and I believe that we'll always be proud of our daughters, whether they are married or single."

Lessons in patience were so sweetly taught her that she could not fail to learn them, charity for all, the lovely spirit that can forgive and truly forget unkindness, the loyalty to duty that makes the hardest easy, and the sincere faith that fears nothing , but trusts undoubtedly.

All that day,the snow fell and the hours went slowly by.The doctor came, then said he would come back after midnight when he expected there to be some change in Beth's condition, for better or worse.Hannah fell asleep in a chair beside Beth's bed.Mr. Laurence waited downstairs, while Laurie lay on the floor pretending to rest. The girls just waited, unable to sleep.

Everyone thought the matter was ended, although others forgot it,Meg remembered. She never talked about Laurie's tutor but she thought of him often and dreamed her dreams. And once, when Jo was looking for something in her sister's desk, she found a bit of paper with 'Mrs John Brooke written on it over and over again.

读后感

"Little Women" is a book with the nature of the family novel autobiography, the author is the American writer Louisa May Alcott.

This book mainly is about a home with four girls of different characters who found their happiness through their hardworking. The story is not complex, and the author uses simple words to describe the family full of love. I was deeply touched by the kind of love, the loyalty and affection. The author describes the very ordinary detail in life, but everywhere is exposed for a better life to love families.

The family is poor to anything, but the girls are positive and optimistic toward life. The novel emphasizes the dignity of their personalities, and also shows their emotions in detail. The four girls become more and more independent day by day. The four girls have common features, but they are always on the way of finding their own shortcomings and to correct them. It is also worth every people learning.

I like Meg because of her choose to stay poverty. I like Joe because she sticks to the dream of freedom and the resolve to firm. I like beth, because of her quiet, doing anything without complaining and the good character of always thinking for others. I also like Amy. I like her strong and confident relief even when the family is poor. Their ideas and destinies are different, but they all found their own best end-results.

In their view, the home is the land of their growth, which is the sacred shelter. Back to the time of listening carefully to the mother's teaching. Four sisters' growth course as if is a rich taste of education poem. The author uses neither luxuriant nor boring words to show us the great family love, friendship and love. In my opinion, it seems that in the eyes of the four sisters, the people they love and the people love them will live together forever and happily.

What kind of life is happiness, because of the person, it's different. And the same people face the same problem, when he is in different stages, life will give different answers. But no matter how things in our casual change, the most essential self-esteem, honest and persistence is not thrown away. I think this book teaches me how to grow into a little woman. Life is a necessary complete travel, although we can't control the time, we can constantly improve ourselves. Some things, such as a thoroughly life without regret, no matter how the heart is moving, or how the vicissitudes of life has been through repeatedly , we all should not be lost and give up.
