A Report on The Call of the Wild

In the book, The Call of the Wild, written by Jack London, who is a famous writer of America, we know a dog's story. The author exposes us to some principles by describing a dog's experience, whose name is Buck. Actually, Buck's experience is a reflection of the author's own

experience of his life. Jack London was born in a peasant's house, which leads to his poor life with hunger and poverty. He sold newspapers, worked as a sailor, pirate and railway worker one by one. He was once put into the prison. In a word, Jack London's life was full of bitterness and difficulties, which became his writing materials.

Buck is a big dog. At first, he lives in the Judge's house where he leads a comfortable and easy life. Unfortunately, he is stolen by the

Judge's gardener and sent to a cold region ,and then he becomes a husky. During that time, Buck sees the conflicts and fights happen again and again because of the competition for becoming a leader of the dogs.

Thank to Buck's courage and wit, he becomes the leader finally. Buck has many masters, but he likes John Thorton most, who saves Buck's life. Unluckily, John is killed by a Indian and it makes Buck very sad.

Eventually, Buck returns back to the primitive forest and lives a wild life. After reading this book, I am deeply impressed by Buck's loyalty to his masters, especially to John Thorton. As we know, Buck serves for many different masters. No matter how they treat Buck, in a bad way or

in a kind way, Buck is always loyal to them, never considering betray. Even when his master hits him with a club, Buck still works hard and tries his best to satisfy his master. For example, one of his masters, Hal, he beats Buck so hardly that Buck is almost to die. However, Buck doesn't rebel or resist. Instead, he just endures the pain and keeps silent. And due to this incident, Buck knows John Thorton who saves his life and

becomes his new master after that. Unlike Buck's previous masters, John cares for Buck from his bottom of heart. He regards Buck as his true friend and in turn, Buck loves him very much. He is willing to do

anything that John demands, even though it is dangerous. Buck also saves John's life twice. One is that Buck bites a guy's throat when he beats John, the other is that Buck drops in the river to save John. As a result, Buck's three bones are broken. Nevertheless, Buck doesn't stop helping John, even in the expense of his own life. So what about the human being? We call ourselves the advanced animals. But I don't think human is superior to animals in everything. In fact, our society is full of betray between friends, workers and bosses, even persons and their own countries. We should learn the loyalty of the dog, for it seldom gives up his or her

master. Human should reflect themselves on this issue. The society needs more sincere and sacrifice.

Besides, I am also impressed by another principle in this book. That is "the survival of the fittest". We see the author write a lot of details about

the fierce competition among the dogs. In the initial, Buck is not used to seeing those bloody and cruel scenes. In other words, he is not used to the wild life. For a long time, he is treated as a pet. He lives a comfortable life without fights and competition. He doesn't know the laws of the wild life. And this is the reason why he gets insults and abuses at first.

Fortunately, Buck is able to adapt himself to the new environment quickly. He learns that there is no mercy in the primitive life. There is only

controlling or being controlled. He also learns that there is two kinds of people in the world, not the good and the bad, but the strong and the weak. In addition, the nature of his wildness comes to life from his inner heart little by little. He faces the fights bravely and pursue for the leadership. He longs for the power and the obedience of other dogs. Finally, he

succeeds in the competition and becomes the leader of the dog groups. Of course, he has a feeling of achievements. This is similar to human. Your life is a battle. The society is the colosseum. We are the gladiators. We have no choice but to be involved in the competition. Some people crave for power, high social status, reputation, and fortune. Others only strive for survival. The competition, however, is merciless, heartless, and impersonal. It only likes the stronger, and always likes them. As for the weaker, they will be dragged out of the competition. That is the rule. Thus, we have to make ourselves much stronger in order to adapt to the

developing society better. We need to study, to keep ourselves informed

of the condition of the society, to make progress in case that we should fall behind. Of course, it is unavoidable to fail in your life. It doesn't matter. The point is that you never give up and do your best to catch up with your rivals. As college students, we are protected by the easy school life, but we can't be blind to the fierce outside. We have to leave the

school one day. And if we are not prepared at that time, we are dangerous. Therefore, we need to study hard now, cultivate our abilities and

accumulate some social experience in advance. Killing the time in the college is equal to killing your future.

In conclusion, The Call of the Wild is really a enlightening book. In addition to its fascinating plots, the principles in this book are worth reflecting and learning. I strongly recommend you to read this book.

第二篇:野性的呼唤300字英语读后感

The Call of The Wild

In the beginnning, Buck lived in a happly life . He was the lovely pet of the Miller . He could get sufficient food everyday. However , happy time is always short .

Unluckily,he was stolen and sold to pay off a gambling debt. Buck was taken to Alaska and sold to a pair of French Canadians who were impressed with his physique. They trained him as a sled dog, and he quickly learned how to survive the cold winter nights and the pack society by observing his teammates. Buck was later sold again and passed hands several times, all the while improving his abilities as a sled dog and pack leader. There life was hard ,but he could feel the warmth given to him by Thornton . So Buck came to love him and grew devoted to him. I was deeply impressed by him . However , at last, Thornton was killed by Indians . It was a pity . The world is dominated by those who are much stronger and more powerful than common people, and only the stronger ones could exist. This is the law of club and fang. Buck gradually realizes the law and begins to obey the law after he is stolen and taken to the would. The savage environment which is full of tricks, dangers and deaths turns him to be more powerful and cunning. Finally, he becomes the leader of his team. Similar to the would, our society becomes crueler and crueler, and living in the society becomes

harder and harder. If you want to exist, to have a good life, you should be tough enough to stand the sufferings; you should keep alert, watch and learn; you should make yourself stronger than others. This is the law of living.
