The King's Speech

In this grave hour, perhaps the most fateful in history, I send to every

household of my peoples, both at home and overseas, this message, spoken with the same depth of feeling for each one of you as if I were able to cross your threshold and speak to you myself.

For the second time in the lives of most of us, we are at war.

Over and over again, we have tried to find a peaceful way out of the

differences between ourselves and those who are now our enemies; but it has bee in vain.

We have been forced into a conflict, for which we are called, with our allies to meet the challenge of a principle which, if it were to prevail, would be fatal to any civilized order in the world.

It is a principle which permits a state in the selfish pursuit of power to

disregard its treaties and its solemn pledges, which sanctions the use of force or threat of force against the sovereignty and independence of other states. Such a principle, stripped of all disguise, is surely the mere primitive doctrine that might is right, and if this principle were established through the world, the freedom of our own country and of the whole British Commonwealth of nations would be in danger.

But far more than this, the peoples of the world would be kept in bondage of fear, and all hopes of settled peace and of security, of justice and liberty, among nations, would be ended.

This is the ultimate issue which confronts us. For the sake of all that we ourselves hold dear, and of the world order and peace, it is unthinkable that we should refuse to meet the challenge.

It is to this high purpose that I now call my people at home and my peoples across the seas, who will make our cause their own.

I ask them to stand calm and firm and united in this time of trial.

The task will be hard. There may be dark days ahead, and war can no longer be confined to the battlefield, but we can only do the right as we see the right, and reverently commit our cause to God. If one and all we keep resolutely faithful to it, ready for whatever service or sacrifice it may demand, then with God's help, we shall prevail.

The king's speech tells the story between Britain's King George VI and his language

therapist Lionel Logue. George VI is the younger brother of the King Edward VIII who abdicated the throne to marry the twice divorced Wallis Simpson. On the eve of World War II Hitler's ambitious, romantic lines of Edward in order to marry Mrs Simpson abandon countries in sight, and government threatened resigned, Edward

But George VI had been lived in the shadow of his father and brother, what was worse that he had a severe stutter, speaking very sweaty, but can't escape the fate of public figures. Fortunately, virtuous queen Elizabeth was introduced, and found a out of the ordinary language therapists Logue for her husband. Through a series of training, the king's stuttering is greatly improved, also the king and Logue became a lifetime friend. At the outbreak of the World War

II when George VI successfully made the famous Christmas speech which greatly inspired the British army.

What impressed me most was the doctor Rogue, his background in the film only account for a few words, but let me seemed to immediately

understand the whole one. He was an actor,recited in pubs and worked as a teacher, during the war, as seen a lot of youth became autistic because of war, because someone said: Lionel,you’re very good at all this speech stuff.Do you think you could possibly help these poor buggers? Then he helped silent youth regain confidence,and let them know that a friend was listening,helped them out of autism. He is not a doctor, no training,no diploma,no qualifications,no credentials,but was able to read one's mind, good at listening. In contrast, therapists in the palace who called good was only having a diploma in vase. So, I believe that the real person is not those outside to promote their own how powerful people, but people who work hard, with a sincere warm heart

dedicated to work. You put the true,and you have been successful.

The George VI is a very good person, no matter where respect was very talented, the only regret was stammer, he loved politics, loved his country and people, hoped to be a good king. taking up the responsibility of the king, but he was a stammer, which was a big blow,.So he first was losing confidence. He didn't have the courage to speak in public loudly. Courage is a wonderful word, but to the king, it was so difficult, because he never had such courage.He even thought it was god's abandoned, he can't be a good king,for he was a stammer,who could not make a speech in front of the public fluently. This all changed,after he met Logue.

This film didn’t tell us George VI stuttering reasons.But we can learn that the king had an unhappy growing experience. George's unfair treatment of the mother was deep and eternal, which left a trauma and shadow George young

hearts, it was possible that this was the main reason for the George VI stuttering.

Logue knew that the king needs friends,who could let him open his heart,which was so important that can restore confidence.And Logue’s correction method of stuttering was so effective.

The king's speech manifested the great

spirit .George knew that his stuttering, but still determined to published Christmas speech. Because this to inspire, stable morale, defeat the fascist Germany is very important. It seems that only a speech to the back of the country is reflected the sense of responsibility. There is a scene in the movie, George in rehearsal

Christmas speech, Rogue deliberately sat in the king's chair, to challenge George’s values, let him look weak. George was enraged, and then Logue stand up and say you have high characters, and great courage, I believe you will be a good king.

This sentence deeply touched me. If you want to get things done, not necessarily how noble character, but be of a good character. By

extension, the psychology of stuttering person is not very healthy, personality also is not very healthy, but you can work hard, make yourself mentally matured up. through efforts to make up your own personal integrity, which would have the courage to act. Virtually there will be a force to encourage you, to help making things better for you. No matter who, overcome fears, face not perfect oneself, self-defeat, many times, it is to adhere to.
