All over the world people enjoy sports. Sports help to keep people healthy and happy, and to live longer.

Sports change with the seasons. People play different games in winter and summer. Swimming is fun in warm weather, but skating is good in winter.

Some sports are so interesting that people everywhere go in for them. Football, for example, has spread around the world. Swimming is popular in all countries near the sea or in those with many rivers. Some sports or games go back thousands of years, like running or jumping. Chinese wushu, for example, has a very long history. But basketball and volleyball are rather new. People are inventing new sports or games all the time. Water skiing is one of the newest in the family of sports.

People from different countries may not be able to understand each other, but after a game together they often become good friends. Sports help to train a person's character. One learns to fight hard but fight fair, to win without pride and to lose with grace. (胜不骄,败不馁)

Suppose you are an American and an advocate of the civil rights movement in the U.S. You are now invited to speak for about three minutes to a group of overseas students about the movement. Do some research, and write a speech script which should cover the following points: 1.When were the first black people brought to America? How were they treated in the new land? 2. What gave rise to the civil rights movement? Who was its leader? 3. What has the civil rights movement helped to bring about?

4. Why is it believed that much remains to be done before black Americans enjoy full equality?

I stand here today honored by your invitation about introducing African-American Civil Rights Movement.

May you don’t know much about the movement,but you should know these people:Obama,Morgan Freeman,Oprah Winfrey,Martin Luther King and so on.Martin Luther King was the leader in the African-American Civil Rights Movement.And you must hear his speech called”I have a dream”.He shouted,”I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up, live up to the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.””,”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave-owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.”Why did he have this dream?Why the blacks suffered the discrimination at that time?

African Americans ,the largest minority in the United States, were suffering from long-term racial discrimination. The great majority of African Americans descend from slaves brought in from Africa, or, more often, from the Caribbean, These slaves descended from prisoners of war captured by African states and sold to African, Arab, European or American slave traders. In that time,they always separated from the whites and have a unequally status compared with the whites.On December 1,1955, in Montgomery,Alabama,Parks refused to obey bus driver James F. Blake's order that she gave up her seat in the colored section to a white passenger, after the white section was filled. Parks' act of defiance and the Montgomery Bus Boycott became important symbols of the modern Civil Rights Movement. Of course,there were many advocates fighting for them and they all had the same goal that end racial segregation and discrimination against black Americans and enforce constitutional voting rights to them. Under the great pressure in the civil rights movement, the U.S. Congress in 1964 through the "Civil Rights Act," passed in 1965, "Election Rights Act," officially through legislation by the end of African Americans in the voting restrictions and various public facilities in racial discrimination and apartheid.

In spite of this,the racial discrimination still exist in U.S.The U.S Equal Employment Opportunity received more than 500 complaints about racial discrimination every week.According to the research of CNN and Opinion Research, 84% African American and 66% white American think, racism is a serious problem in the United States, the American society has different forms of racism in different groups. So I think there is still a long way to go before they enjoy the really equality.And I will give my life in fighting for their rights.Because I also have a dream!
