Causes of the Generation Gap
The generation gap has been an ancient issue. Both parents and children report that it is difficult for them to understand each other. With the ever faster pace of change of modern society, the problem is becoming more and more serious.
What are the causes of generation gap? First, the difference in the social background they grow up in surely foster different values and view of life. The society is changing. So are the values and views of life. So long as there are different generations, so long as there are generation gaps. Second, parents and children are at different phases of their lives. The relatively more mature parents and the relatively enterprising children are bound to see things from different standing points.
From the analyses, we can see that generation gap is inevitable. Then what can we do to deal with this universal problem? First and foremost, the most powerful way is to keep in mind that we love each other. Realizing this can help children see the reasons why parents do something that they would not understand or appreciate. Bearing this in mind can help parents accept their children for what they are. Second, communication can promote mutual understanding and lessen the influence of generation gap to the least. Though generation gap is unavoidable, it is not impossible to maintain a loving, understanding and supporting relationship between parents and children.

The Cause of Generation Gap
One day,Sam and his friends were sitting in the back seat talking to each other their favorite singer Jay Chou. Then his father cut in and talked about his favorite singer Andy-Liu. Sam and his friends were embarrassed for his out of style. As a result, they no longer talked to his father. Why doesn’t the father and son communicate with each other? What are the causes of the generation gap?
Several reasons can account for this common phenomenon. Firstly, the contrast of ages between parents and teenagers is a little big. That’s to say, parents are mutual and old-fashioned while teenagers are quite active, passive and in style. Therefore, it’s normal that parents and teenagers are both very hard to find common language.
Secondly, with the development of technology, teenagers are quite familiar with the Internet, e-mail and QQ. But then, most of the parents like antiques and they even don’t know how to surf on the Internet. So, teenagers may often communicate with their friends or classmates.
Last but at least, the most important reason is that parents and teenagers are usually not trying to understand each other. We should try to listen to each other and find some topics appropriately to begin the talking. If we often talk face to face, I believe the generation gap would be removed quickly.
