Abstract Our research try to build an input device by capturing through the webcam with using the multi-media and internet technology. Via the capturing through the webcam, we utilize the motion vector, the frame difference and the texture-recognized method to improve the accuracy of motion estimation. At the computing we make use of block-matching and record the background registration to analyse the difference of the consecutive frames. According to the experimental results, the background information for the environment is very important when the system processes the difference of the consecutive frames. We consider not only the effectiveness and the efficiency of the motion vector estimation, but also the effect of the environment such as the lights, user clothes and the background

colors. Therefore, we have to adjust the adaptive parameters for the requirement of the environment to raise the performance of the estimation algorithm. Finally, we accomplish a model system by using the webcam to be a input interface with combining the motion vector and color texture technique, and actually it can also work through the internet. And we also get a satisfying result from the actual experimentation by using a subjective webcam quality evaluation method.
