ASSESSMENT AND PLACEMENTMARKET LEADER conducts the initial language competency assessment of prospective participants using the following standard methods: 1. Written Assessment: a one-hour in-house written test assessing participants’ abilities to apply previously learned vocabulary and grammatical skills in business-related comprehension and writing exercises. 2. Oral Assessment: a 5 to 10 minute interview with each prospective participant conducted by a MARKET LEADER native English speaking trainer. During the Oral Assessment interview, the trainer: a. Tests the interviewee’s oral English competency measured against 6 individual skills (Understanding, Accuracy, Vocabulary, Pronunciation, Fluency and the ability to respond to questions); b. Collects information about the interviewee’s work position and tasks in order to best establish their language training needs; c. TRAINING CONTENTFollowing initial assessment, MARKET LEADER consultants cooperate closely with the Training or Sales of the client company to finalize the training content of the course. The exact content of the training is chosen according to: 1. The client company’s industry and participants jobs; 2. Preferences expressed by the client company, for instance to focus on oral, written skills or special job-related skills such as telephone communication 3. The language level of participants. TRAINING MATERIALMARKET LEADER uses a variety of self-developed course books for business and office English training. Developed entirely by MARKET LEADER and used in training for multinational and large Chinese companies, these course books covers all main aspects of English used in business. The material contains vocabulary, phrases, exercises and skills practice related to office work and management. Since more than 50% of training time is spent on interactive activities such as role-plays and simulations, MARKET LEADER trainers will use various support material such as flash-cards, role-cards, forms and other supplements. ATTENDANCEIt is essential that once our clients decide to invest in corporate language training, all staff assigned to training actually make use of this opportunity and participate in the sessions. During the training, MARKET LEADER trainers keep careful records of participant attendance. Attendance forms are submitted to the client at the end of each moth, or on the special request of the client at any time. If attendance drops, our Client Service Department contacts the Training or HR Managers of our client, finds out the reasons for low attendance and make sure to find a constructive solution for the problem. EVALUATIONMARKET LEADER trainers evaluate participants’ progress twice during the training course: half-way through the training course (e.g. after 24 hours in a 48-hour training), and at the end of the course. Evaluation Method: in harmony with the overall method of MARKET LEADER trainings, our trainers use interactive ways to evaluate the participants’ progress, including the ability to use the newly learned vocabulary in role-plays, customer service situations and dialogues. Trainers carefully observe each participant during the training and note their level of success in using their English in practice. Progress Evaluation: the competency level of participants in compared to their Written and Oral Assessment results at mid-term, and their mid-term results at the end of the term. Progress is judged according to the same criteria used at assessment. Individual Training Progress Report: After each evaluation, MARKET LEADER submits a detailed report to the relevant HR or Training Manager, containing the following information: ? Progress in language competency, by individual skills compared to Assessment level (understanding, accuracy, vocabulary, pronunciation, fluency, ability to respond to questions, reading and writing). ? Activity level, based on the participants participation and contribution to group activities and discussions. ? Attendance: number of sessions missed. ? Trainer’s notes about the strengths and weaknesses of the participant, including language learning and usage, participation and personality. ? FEEDBACKOur Service staff collects regular feedback from participants and HR or Training Managers to make sure that the training is in line with the client’s expectations. Feedback is usually collected 3 times during a standard training course: after 5 hours of training by phone, then at mid-term and at three-quarters by feedback forms. The feedback collected is carefully analyzed and shared with the client in detailed reports. Subsequently Market Leader’s Course Coordinators and Training Supervisors cooperate with the client to make sure that feedback is not only information, but becomes the basis of adjustments and improvements. Training method: in addition to materials, corporate language trainers receive detailed guidelines about the most effective ways to use the MARKET LEADER training methodology. ? Training content supervision: MARKET LEADER Training Supervisors check the structure and content of each session’s lesson plan beforehand. ? The mutual visit system: At least once during each MARKET LEADER training, another corporate language trainer joins the session and participates in his colleague’s class. MEASURING LANGUAGE COMPETENCYMARKET LEADER places great emphasis on measuring the language level of participants before, during and after the training. Our testing and measurement system helps trainers to compare the level of participants before they enter the training, during the training and at the final evaluation in a precise way. Also, the system allows us to provide our clients with clear and reliable reports about placement (assigning participants to different groups) and training progress.
