申请学校的准则如下：
对比国家学校排名：选定国家后，你也许就选定了某所学校，所以优先选择学校排名高的，这样可以有助于你接触更多知识，拓宽更广视野。
对比国家风景人文：一个国家、学校良好的人文环境、风景环境多多少少能助你更好的完成放学计划。
对比签国家证难易：这一个对比有时候不是太重要，但有时候显得十分关键，这个就看申请者自己根据时间、个人具体把握了。
对比国家优惠政策：每个国家对访问学者的政策都有不同，这需要申请者熟知，简单的例子：有的国家可以允许访问学者带家属、孩子提供免费学习，这也是申请者应该考虑的一点。
对比家庭经济收支：这项也非常重要，出国做访问学者尤其是自费学者，一定要根据自己家庭的收支做出正确的衡量选择。
选择导师的步骤如下：
导师的研究方向和领域：切合自己的研究方向和领域，最好不要迁就，为了能够出去，广撒网似得选择一些与自己爱好、研究方向不合的导师。
导师的个人实力，多多筛选：申请者可以通过咨询校友、上网查找信息根据文章或者作者，单位等信息查找本领域知名专家和学校或者实验室；详细看每一位教授的CV. 确定几个候选人。
最后：结合学校、导师实力、个人综合情况，筛选出自认为适合的导师，然后就send the email and waiting for good news。
