In a certain school there was a young fellow who caused all sorts of trouble. He talked back to his teachers, he refused to do his homework and he was disrespectful to everyone. Finally the headmaster decided to call the young man's father. The father came to the school to see the headmaster and the two of them discussed lots of problems the young man was causing. As the headmaster talking, the phone rang. He excused himself to the parent and answered it. The person on the other end wanted some information. "Certainly, " said the master, "I have it right here in my desk." He reached for his desk drawer and opened it. There, much to his surprise, was a big, red book with the name: "The Dirty Joke Book." The father of the student was surprised when he saw the book! "Well, Sir." he said to the master, "I suggest you practise what you tell the students to do!" As it turned out, the master had taken the book from a student, put it in his desk drawer, and he had completely forgotten about it! Needless to say, the headmaster had a lot of explaining to do!

There was once a storekeeper whose shop was often visited by an old man who never paid his bill. Mr. and Mrs. Jones's flat was full of suitcases, trunksand packed-up furniture. The two of them were busy with pencils and paper, checking their lists of luggage, when there was a ring at the door. Mrs. Jones went to open it,

and saw a well-dressed middle-aged lady outside. The lady came to welcome them to their new home. The Joneses invited her in, after apologizing for the state of the flat.

"Oh, please don't stand on ceremonywith me," she answered. "Do you know, in some parts of this town neighbours are not at all friendly. There are some streets, and even some blocksof flats, where people don't know their neighbours, not even their next-door ones. But in this block of flats, everybody is friends with everybody else. We are one big, happy family. I am sure that you will be very happy here."

The well-dressed lady got a shock when she came to visit the flat the next time, because she found a quite different man and woman in it. Mr. and Mrs. Jones had not had the courage to tell her that they were not the new owners of the flat, who were going to move in the next day, but the old owners who had lived beside her for two years without her ever having visited them or even noticed their existence.

A woodcutter was working in the forest when he found a box full of gold coins.

He thought about this for a long time, then made a decision. He made some careful preparations, then went home to get his wife. "I have found something in the forest," he told her. hares in the river."

Soon after this, they came to where the woodcutter had found the box of gold. "Look, wife," he said. "this is what I have found. A box full of gold coins." The next day, his wife could not prevent herself from telling her friends about all the wonderful things she had seen. "I saw a fish growing out of a tree," she said, "and hares in the river, and then my husband found a box full of gold coins." Of course, nobody believed her!
