第二篇:英语作文 记事
It was a fabulous Sunday afternoon --- the only period of time when everything had been done. I came out to see my best friends, Ma and Zhang. Ma and I were only ten years old then, while Zhang was even younger. All of us were naughty boys. We decided to play in our yard. It was a big yard where nearly one hundred families lived. Down the yard, there were two three-storey buildings. Except the two buildings, all others were wooden houses. We played running and chasing for a while, but soon got tired of this boring game. So we agreed to try something new.
Thousands of ideas were rolling in my mind, and finally, I came up with one---to make some fire and have a barbeque. The idea was at once agreed by my friends, so we ran into a broad corn field, in which thousands of corns were sitting. We wanted to steal some corns. Standing inside the corn field, I hesitated for a moment. “It is stealing”, three words came to my mind clearly. However, since I had already started, I could not retreat. I was very nervous and excited. I felt so terrified because I thought there might be a dog or watchman. Fortunately, we got the corns smoothly. I felt guilty, because it was stealing and I really did it. There was no opportunity for me to regret. What was done was done.
We took the corns with us and ran away from the corn field as soon as possible. On the escaping way, we were trying our best to hide the corns inside our jackets. I was afraid of being seen by someone else, so I tied my jacket really hard. It was not a long distance back to our yard but every step was so hard at that moment. I felt that everyone in the world was staring at me. I gazed around furtively like a thief. Actually, I had been a thief the moment I stole the corns. Finally, we found a safe place to hide the corns and ourselves. It was a corner, surrounded by two wooden houses. People seldom came here.
Ma looked around and said to me, “Hey, are you sure this is a good place?”
“Do you have a better one?” I asked a question in reply.
“But I think there is so much wood. You may burn them, and you will be in a big trouble, don’t you think so?” Ma kept asking.
“I know some fire-fighting methods, Okay? I can handle it anyway.”
“whatever. I just want my roasted corn.”
So we found some dry branches and lighted them. Kids are kids after all. When we lighted the fire, it seemed that the stealing thing never happened. We put the corns on the branches and
held them over the fire. Sparkles surrounded the corns and came out colorful lines with cracking sounds, like setting of the firecrackers. When we were immersed in the enjoyment, something happened.
“Do you guys hear something?” Zhang asked.
“Nothing.” I said indifferently.
“But I hear the alarm; it sounds like fire trucks’ alarm.” “It’s none of our business, right?”
Actually, it was our business because I saw some firefighters came to us. I did not know what had happened but I was very nervous. “You guys, come on! Put some soil on the fire!” I shouted. However, they two had run away already. I put some soil on the fire in panic and ran away as well. I could not go back home because mom would know everything I did. I sneaked around and tried to find a good place to hide. Fortunately, I found one. It was a narrow gap between two houses. It just fitted my body. The firefighters were searching for us. I did not really understand why they had to find us, just because a barbeque? When I was secretly glad because nobody could find me, a firefighter showed up. We made an eye contact. “Come out, boy!” “Why?” I started crying. Those tears betrayed me. “You really enjoyed your roasted corn, umm?” “ Please
don’t tell my mom, please!” It was like a movie. We stole the corns, we escaped, and we were being searched. There was only one difference. The thieves were usually searched by the policemen but we were being searched by the firefighters. I did not know what happened to my friends but I went through the toughest time in my whole life. “Come with me, boy.” “Will you put me into the jail or something?” I asked with a trembling voice. There was no response at all. I cried even harder because I really did not know what would happen next. “Come on. I need to talk to your mom.” “What?” Nothing could be more fearful than seeing my mom at that moment but I had no choice. Mom was full of doubt when she saw the firefighter. “What happened?”
“Someone called 119.” The firefighter said.
“Did he make a malicious call?”
“Well, let your kid tell you what happened.”
“Such a sneaky firefighter” I whispered in my heart. I really did not know what was wrong with me, and I even felt very proud of myself because I thought I knew a lot of fire-fighting methods, and I thought I did a really good job to put out a fire. “Is it possible that I stole the firefighter’s corns?” I said to myself.
“I took some corns.” I spoke in a very low voice that I could hardly hear.
“Did I just hear you said stealing?” mom tried her best to control her emotion.
“I’m sorry, mom.”
“I’m afraid sorry isn’t enough. I’m so disappointed in you. How dare you steal?”
“Well, I think that’s not the point.” The firefighter said.
“Your kid lighted a fire in a dangerous zone. Many wooden houses are there and the fire is really close to them. Even though the fire didn’t cause a severe consequence, you need to pay for the fine and sign up this paper.” The firefighter gave a piece of paper to my mom.
“This is a handbook about the fire controlling. You’d better explain this to your kid.”
Mom did not punish me after the firefighter left. She said to me “I’m not going to punish you because I think you have already known what you did is wrong.”
Although this event was over, it would never be forgotten. Everything needs to be thought over seriously before doing it. Once a mistake is made, there will rarely be a chance to regret.
