How the Internet Affects Our Life
Human life has not only been changed since the appearance of the Internet, it has been revolutionized. The common Chinese greeting “Have you had your meal?” has now been replaced by “Have you linked to the Internet?” The Internet has already affected human life in a number of aspects.
Firstly, the Internet is a huge information center, allowing people to take what they need and to express what they want to say at large. It differs from other forms of media in that people can participate in it and choose their favorite on their own instead of receiving information passively. The amount and diversity of information available on the net are extraordinary, keeping us informed of the up-to-the-minute news in every corner of the world, often faster than newspapers or televisions.
Secondly, the Internet shortens the space between people. Communication through the Internet such as E-mail, Net meeting or ICQ provides us with a faster, cheaper and easier way to get in touch with people all over the world anytime and anywhere. The pace of our life has been further sped up and efficiency improved.
What’s more, the rise in the proportion of popularization of the Internet has promoted economic revolution. A completely new kind of business, E-business, is beginning to take shape. More and more companies have turned to the Internet to promote their products and services. More and more people have tried making a deal on the Internet. Some people have even come to prefer shopping on the Internet to going to the department stores.
However, every coin has two sides. With the popularization of the Internet comes a growing public concern about the safety of the Internet. In addition, the inappropriate and over use of the Internet brings about physical and mental diseases. Therefore, we human should get rid of these negative effects and make good use of the positive ones.
Following the wheels of history, human beings have stepped into a time of Internet. I firmly believe that with the development of the Internet, our life will become brighter and nicer.
Impacts of Tourism on Local Areas
Tourism is playing an increasingly important role in the world economy. Currently, international tourism is second only to oil in world trade, and it has been projected that by the turn of the century it will be the most important sector of industry.
The most impressive contribution tourism makes to the economy of local areas is the number of business and jobs it supports. For example, it is estimated that, during the Expo period from May to October 20## in Shanghai, visitor arrivals including sightseeing and business travelers will amount to 70 million person-times. Propelled by the tourism, Shanghai will further create a huge number of jobs in industries like economic impact will be 1.5 times bigger than the 20## Korea-Japan FIFA World Cup Games.
Recently, researchers have found that tourist activity can benefit local culture and the environment. They note that tourism has helped preserve some musical and dance traditions among the area, prompted tourism employees to learn foreign languages, and has raised environmental awareness among people living near game reserves. However, the fact is that too often in the past tourism planning and development have not been rigorous enough, and the environment has suffered as a consequence. Tourism awareness must be promoted, if environmental standards are to be maintained. This is leading to an increasing emphasis on the assessment of the impact of tourism and on the preparation of tourism development plans. We must not proceed the limits of the carrying capacity of a particular region of site, whether it is for tourists or, equally of importance, for the local population.

Friendship
As is known to all, friends are very important to us. When we are in trouble, it’s our friends who bring us help and comfort us. When we have succeeded, it’s our friends who share in our happiness. Without friends, life is nothing but a desert. Everyone needs friends.
Therefore, one should make as many friends as possible. And with the modern technique of the Internet, one may even make friends with people thousands of miles away. A good friend is a helpful book, from which we can learn a lot. The more friends we have, the more meaningful our life will be.
However, friendship does more than just provide happiness and help. It also means responsibility. As a proverb says, “A friend in need is a friend indeed.” True friendship lies in giving but not taking. Friendship is so priceless that we should cherish it. Make our Roads Safer
With the rapid development of economy and science, traffic accidents have constantly been occurring these years. You can be informed of the car crashes or air crashes happening in all parts of the world. Many people are killed or injured in road accidents every year. Traffic accidents will cause loss and suffering to both the individual and society. So I think something must be done to change this situation. First of all we must make the whole society aware of the serious problem. And then effective measures, such as making roads wider or building more subways and tunnels, must be taken. What’s more, giving lectures on traffic rules to everyone should also be taken into consideration. Last but not least, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Let’s spare no effort to help to make our roads safer and our life happier.

Computer and Our Life
If anyone asks me about the most important invention of the 20th century, I’ll vote for computer science. It is known to all that without computer we can’t have a modern life as we have now. So in my opinion, computer is playing an essential part in our life.
The first reason can be seen by everyone-A computer works faster than any human being can do and the capability of storing huge amounts of information makes it an efficient and faithful assistant for all of us, thus giving us more time to do other things, to relax and to enjoy our life.
The second reason is also obvious-Computer, together with Internet, makes communication more convenient. Our lifestyle has been greatly changed by computer since we can surf the net. We can chat and keep in touch with friends both at home and abroad on Internet.
The future of computer science is promising. We can accomplish more wonders by means of it, and therefore our life in the near future will definitely be more splendid and attractive.
