1. Online Shopping

With the development of the Internet and the popularization of computers, shopping on the Internet has become a commonplace in our life. Here consumers can buy almost everything they need.

Shopping on the Internet has a lot of advantages, of which the most important is perhaps its convenience. People don't have to waste a lot of their energy and precious time to go from one shop to another to choose the commodities they like. This is especially desirable to the old, the sick and the busy people who cannot go to the shops in person. The goods come in all shapes, sizes and colors on the Internet. All they need to do is to sit in front of their computers and click the mouses. The commodities they order will be delivered to them promptly.

However, shopping on the Internet also has its disadvantages. The first disadvantage is that the consumers can't see the goods or try them on personally. Sometimes, the real goods may not be the same as what they have seen on the computer. The second disadvantage is that some shops on the Internet are not registered. They will never deliver anything to you after they get the money from you. Once cheated, you will find that you have nowhere to go to complain.

Anyway, we should consider carefully which way to choose before we really buy so that we can buy the ideal goods.

2. Pollution: An Increasing Concern in China

It is reported that ten big cities in China are being ranked among the top twenty cities with the highest pollution index in the world. This means it is high time we did something to bring the situation under control.

Many factors are contributing to the deteriorating situation: industrial wastes pumped into the air, the lakes and rivers; a increasing number of automobiles crowding into the streets; the widespread use of plastic bags etc.

To my view, stiffer laws and regulations must be implemented to check pollution. Industries that release wastes without permission should be heavily fined. Cars should be equipped to minimize the exhaust they release into the air. And the use of plastic bags and disposable meal boxes should be banned. What's more, the media should play an important role in implanting a sense of environmental consciousness into people's mind.

If everybody works toward a common goal of making the environment better, we can create a cleaner and lovelier world for us and for the coming generation.

3. Choosing an Occupation

One of the most important problems a young person faces is deciding what to do. There are some people, of course, who from the time they are six years old "know" that they want to be doctors or pilots or fire fighters, but the majority of us do not get around to making a decision about an occupation or career until somebody or something forces us to face the problem.

Choosing an occupation takes time, and there are a lot of things you have to think about as you try to decide what you would like to do. You may find that you will have to take special courses to qualify for a particular kind of work, or you may find out that you will need to get actual work experience to gain enough knowledge to qualify for a particular job.

Fortunately, there are a lot of people you can turn to for advice and help in making your decision. At most schools, there are teachers who are professionally qualified to give you detailed information about job qualifications. And you can talk over your ideas with family members and friends who are always ready to listen and to offer suggestions.

4. Love in College

As a college student, campus is our home, a warm and sunny house, you can find the vigor to live and sustain forever. But do remember there is unusual scenery you should pay great attention to, which is the love in the campus. When it comes to this theme, various words rushed into my mind, sweet, happy, love for ever, everything sounds to be wonderful.

However, our elders always exaggerate about love in college. They believe that it is a waste of time and money. It will make students to forget their studies and eventually may even destroy their lives.

As for me, although I am looking forward to having an excellent boy / girl study and live with me, it is just a dream actually.? We are still children, do not have enough experience in love; we do not take in the spirit of true love. For us it is just a good feeling, a slight feeling because of well-dressed or handsome appearance, not by instinct. How about the personality or her habits, we do not know, we just love

because of her beauty. Love depending on this will certainly go not so further, one day, you find you two are unable to share in the same way, you will quit, leaving tears fallen down. It turns out that love in the campus is commonly short and dreamful.

I think after you become mature enough, then you can use your sharp eyes to recognize people, find who you really suit to, then, take it seriously.

5. My Opinion on Campus Love

On campus, lovers can be found here and there. Some people think too much intimacy has a bad influence. It takes too much time and energy. Furthermore, their intimacy can distract their own as well as their students' attention from study. Campus should be a place for study and should maintain an atmosphere of learning.

On the other hand, other people believe it is OK. Pursuing love is all right to students on campus and intimacy is a natural expression of love. Some scholars of law hold that friendship and appropriate intimacy are an important part of student development.

In my opinion, what all people should do is just leave it as it is. University students are adults, and they can handle their own affairs well enough. However, they have to admit that school is a place where

people receive an education and their main task is to satudy. Therefore, students are expected to behave themseleves in proper ways.

6. Intelligence-Nature or Nurture?

Nowadays, there is no agreement among people concerning intelligence. Some people contend that intelligence is to some extent something we are born with. And the closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be in intelligence.

However, others maintain that environment plays a crucial role in our intelligence. For instance, if we put two identical twins in different environments, we might send one to university and the other to a factory where the job is boring, we would find differences in their intelligence several years later.

Just as every coin has two sides, our intelligence is partly born and partly developed. The sure way to develop our intelligence is intelligent parents as well as a good environment.

7. Parents Are the Best Teachers.

It is your parents who teach you to walk; it is your parents who teach you to speak; it is your parents who teach you to do these basic things in your life. Thus parents should be the best teachers!

First of all, parents know us more than others do. Parents give us life, and I consider that we will spend plenty of time with them. Therefore, they learn about our merit and shortcomings clearly. At the same time, they will help us to shake off our demerit. Besides, parents own much more life experience than us. Sometimes, they are just like our models. And as the saying goes: "Example is better than precept." Thus we will unconsciously imitate some of our parents* habits and styles of behavior, which means that we can learn good things from them.

Just as the saying goes:"There is no place like home."And I think there is no teacher like our parents. They are the best teachers in our life.

8. A Shopping Center on the Neighborhood

Although large shopping centers are very convenient and good places to spend free time, they can also bring some disadvantages, and for this reason I would disagree with the building of one in my neighborhood.

First of all, one disadvantage of having a large shopping center would be a great increase in traffic. More cars would not only bring traffic jams but also noise and parking problems. Second, a large shopping center requires a lot of space. To build one, some open space would have to be sacrificed. We might no longer have room for a sports ground.

Just because of the above disadvantages, I would oppose any plan to construct a large shopping center in my neighborhood. Although it is necessary for me to visit shopping centers on occasion, I could spend some time traveling to another one not far away. My neighborhood is a peaceful and quiet place and I hope it will stay that way.

9. How to Arrange Your Time at College?

Nowadays, people are divided on the question how students should arrange their school days. Some people claim students should spend the whole school days in academic studies.

However, others contend physical exercise should be a required part of every school day. As for me, I will choose the latter without hesitation. Being a student, his or her main task is to work hard on his or her academic study. Only by studying hard can he or she obtain adequate knowledge from academic studies.

Nevertheless, I don't think a student should focus on studying too much, he or she should join in other meaningful activities. For instance, doing physical exercise is a good way to make students' life more colorful and beneficial. In a word, when students gain knowledge from academic studies, they should not neglect to relax themselves and take regular physical exercise.

10. Do Libraries Become Useless at the Age of Information?

There has been a heated discussion about libraries at the age of information among people. Some people, especially the younger generation, challenge the value of conventional libraries. When they need any information in their studies or work, they can turn to their computers for help. For this reason, they do not need to go to a library for borrowing or returning one or two books.

While others, including most old people as well as scholars, value libraries. They love libraries because they can enjoy peace and quietness in an isolated spiritual world. And they also have access to rare academic works needed for their studies in the libraries.

hi my view, conventional libraries are still available though there is still much room of improving. At the Age of Information, as long as knowledge is respected and cherished, libraries won't extinct from our lives. On the other hand, libraries should not refuse the latest information technology, which will enable them to regain those young readers.

11. How to Deal with Sub-health

With the modernization of the world, people's standard of living has improved a lot. Then there appears a state of sub-health among people which poses a new threat to them.

There are some typical symptoms for people who are in a state of sub-health. First of all, those who suffer from it often have a headache or backache. Secondly, they feel like having a rest frequently. What upsets us most is that, the situation is spreading countrywide. As a result, more and more workers in big cities are harassed by it, with a percentage of 75 in Beijing, 72 in Shanghai and 70 in Guangzhou respectively.

Then how can we solve this problem effectively? Experts suggest that the best way to keep ourselves healthy is to do exercises. It is also very important that people should form a good living habit, for example, getting up early and going to sleep early. Only doing so can we keep us healthy.

12. A Job-searching Experience

Last Friday my English teacher told me that one of her friends was looking for an English governess. I asked for her friend's name and phone number. I determined to seize the chance and have my first job. I was a little nervous when I went to the woman's house. I was told that the talk between us that day would decide whether I could take the job. However, when the woman, Lucy as she was called, welcomed me into her house, 1 felt much relaxed. I thought as long as I was sincere and friendly I would perform well. The conversation went on smoothly. She seemed much more interested in my habits and hobbies than how good I was at English. It happened that we have the same hobby: playing tennis. I told her about my family and school life. Obviously I succeeded and from then on I went to teach her English every weekend.

Lucy told me later that it was my secretary who made her willingly accept me. It is true that we can play some tricks while seeking for a job, but remember to be sincere. It's the secret of my success.

13. Do We Need "Never give up"?

It is widely accepted that "Never give up", a strong and positive life attitude, is the key for individual success on the grounds that permanent persistence may boost our confidence, strengthen our will, and provide us a second chance for success when we are in hardship. However, others argue that sensible abandonment is more precious than blind persistence because the wise one should choose the most suitable area for himself/herself.

In my opinion, we need to learn to give up timely. The most immediate reason is that we should adjust our aim carefully in order to go ahead continuously. Sometimes, to give up those unrealistic targets is essential for success. Besides, the attitude "Never give up" exhausts us both mentally and physically. Only through learning to give up can we lead a pleasant and relaxing life. Finally, the temporary comprise means a new start, a beginning bringing new hopes, expectations and opportunities for us.

Passive as giving up sounds alike, it represents a more mature and realistic mentality. If those opposing this attitude can take into consideration of its benefits, then this may seem acceptable in our lives.

14.

Some 20-somethings, supposed to dedicate themselves to studies, are in hot pursuit of fashion. The craze to vie with each other is prevalent in colleges and universities. Undoubtedly, they have every reason to reverse the trend.

Students should concentrate themselves exclusively on studies, which should be on the top of their agenda. Holding the right concept of value makes sense. To earn an impressive academic performance, we college students must pour determined efforts into study and pay no attention to vogue.

Keeping up with the Jones results in the unavoidable distraction from studies. And college students are vulnerable to business promotional campaign. They are heavily targeted by ads. We should compete with our peers for better scholarly achievement instead of more expensive designer clothes.

15.

In the long life span, we will definitely experience a wealth of setbacks. It’s more than a possibility. It's an inevitability. A great variety of highly uncertain failures and difficulties will be on our life path. However, failure breeds success. Success doesn't mean the absence of failures; it means the attainment of ultimate objectives. It means winning the war, not every battle. We can draw lessons and profits from failure. The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success.

When the unanticipated frustration comes, we must summon up all our courage to conquer it. Furthermore, we can gain from failures. We can steer ourselves through failures and embark on the road to success.

16. What jobs do college graduates want to take

The overwhelming majority of college graduates are confronting the ever-tougher job market. Most of them struggle to land a job in big cities like Beijing and Shanghai. So these priority areas draw a host of job candidates every year. Regardless of where to start their careers, some individuals give the priority to the anticipated well-paid positions.

Gender differences in the job application are striking. To avoid labor-intense jobs, girls focus their attention on financial and service sectors. Some of them find employment in schools. Boys always push hard to find a managerial or technical job.

Everyone expects to embark on a promising career to demonstrate his/her skills and capabilities. But position isn't tailored to every applicant. So college graduates must lower the over-high expectations and apply for proper jobs.

17.

Some deem that opportunity is the key to success. For example, those global business giants like Google owe their success to the huge opportunities they meet. Google's boom benefits from the frenzy of Internet. Another striking example is Zhang Liangying's overnight sensation. Super Girl Voice Contest, a golden opportunity for her, put the spotlight on her.

Others argue that intelligence and diligence outweigh opportunity. There is solely a Google around the planet. The Internet superpower gains from its co-founders' advanced technology and keen insight into the global internet market. Zhang Liangying demonstrated her distinguished talent and the very wide vocal range. For this reason, she left an favorable impression with judges and won a host of diehard fans. In my eyes, success is strongly linked with both. The combination of these two factors breeds success. There are enormous opportunities beckoning us. We must seize them and exert our all-out intelligence and ability.

18.

How to arrange/allocate time? This issue splits college students apart. Some individuals' schedules are packed with various tasks related to study. They immerse themselves in books and don't do regular physical exercise. But most of the college students support the value of physical exertion.

To develop or maintain physical fitness and overall health, we must involve in regular sports practice. Chen Jingrun, a Mathematics towering figure, planted himself in complex questions without physical exercise. His premature death highlighted the significant health benefits from sports.

Historically, physical activity has been associated with health. Today, science has confirmed the link, with overwhelming evidence that people who lead active lifestyles are less likely to die early, or to experience major illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes and cancers. A vast majority of college students do not meet recommended levels of moderate physical activity. Just do it! Let's participate in more physical exercise.

19.

The approach of the Chinese Lunar New Year poses a national issue concerning the necessity of holding the CCTV Spring Festival Gala. Its established status is being challenged by a growing number of people, especially by younger generations. It is increasingly difficult to cater for all tastes.

Some individuals deem that it should be canceled or replaced by other programs. These young people focus their attention on other forms of celebration instead of immersing themselves in TV. Despite that, the majority of mid-aged people and senior citizens uphold the importance of the traditional performance. The most striking feature of this gala is its traditionally close link with ordinary people's lives. Most of people view this gala as an annual staple on the traditional Chinese Spring Festival Eve. They all have a restless night and glue their eyes on the television.

I am not supportive of the view that the grand gala should be abandoned. Undoubtedly, it plays a vital role in the celebration of Chinese New Year. To increase its appeal and meet young adults' need, the upcoming performance should invite some big names including super stars from Hongkong and Taiwan. We are all eagerly anticipating this unforgettable evening show.

20. The Post-graduate Craze

Each year, millions of college students will sit in for the post-graduate entrance examination. More and more students have regarded the pursuing of a master degree as an indispensable part of their education. What is to account for their enthusiasm for a post-graduate diploma? First, it is the demand of the time. In an age of knowledge updating and information explosion, what you have learned in college can hardly meet the demand of society. Talents of high quality who are equipped with the latest knowledge and skill will be needed more than ever. That is why many students will further their studies.

Second, we all recognize that the more education you have, the more likely you are to succeed. Compared with those without a master degree, masters will enjoy more preferential treatment, for example, better salaries, more opportunities for promotion and training. A post-graduate degree can guarantee a more promising career. Last but not least, with the graduation of a large number of college students, competition for jobs becomes more and more fierce. One way to gain some advantage over others is to have a higher degree.

No wonder millions of students will consider pursuing a post-graduate degree.
