China is in the east of Asia. Its neighbour in landmass are twelve contries, such as Russia, India, Veit Nam,ect. It faces the Pacific Ocean. It covers more than 9.6million square kilometres. There are many big rivers in China. Among them Yangtse River and the Yellow River are the longest and most impotant. China has 28provinces and autonomous regions and three cities directly under the central government. China has the largest population in the world. The number of people living there is already over one billion now. the Chinese nation is made up of 56 nationalities. Among them Han is the largest, making up of 94% of the whole. They have a long history of more than 4000years.

China is a developing country. The Chinese people are working hard to realize the four modernzations.

My First Visit to China

As a famous British professor, I was invited to visit China and give lectures there at the end of October in 2000. During my visit, I was warmly welcomed everywhere. During that period, I gave lectures, visited several middle schools and universities, and visited the Great Wall, the Summer Palace and some other places of interest.

After returning to Britain, I will tell my friends and my family that China is a country with the largest population in the world, and that she has achieved great progress. The “open-to-the-word” policy has done much good to ChinA.

This afternoon we had a P.E lesson. Our teacher led us to practise long jump.When the bell rang.we gathered on the playground. After the warming-up exercises,the teacher told us the way of long jump and gave us an example. Then we followed the teacher and practised one after another. Soon came my turn and I felt nervous. I failed the fist time,but I wasn't discouraged.I kept on thinking the teacher's words and practising. At last I managed to jump over three meters.

From this class I come to realize that one can succeed if he has perseverance.

Sunday，October 17 Fine

Today I showed some foreign friends around our city. We started off by car from the Friendship Hotel at 8:10 am. We first went to Zhongshan Park. We were all struck by its beautiful flowers on show. Then, we visited the city museum. We saw plenty of valuable things, from which we learned more about the city. After that we drove to Jingshan Temple. It is a beautiful place of interest in our city, and from there we enjoyed the wonderful scenery of the sea. We had a delicious lunch at the Seafood Restaurant and came back at 1:20 pm. All the foreign friends were pleased with my arrangement. We did have a wonderful time today.
