My Impressions after Reading”Gone with the Wind”

Recently,I have just finished reading a famous novel written by Margaret mitchell—“Gone with the Wind”,which is one of the most popular works among American novels.It took the auther about 10 years to finish this great novel,the only novel in her life. The story happened during the Civil War eve.Scarlett O'Hara,a 16-year-old girl,who was living in Tala manor in Georgia,was loving her neighbor Ashley Wilkes.However,after the war have broken out, Ashley Wilkes married his yonger cousin Melanie. Scarlett was so angry that she decided to marry a man she didn?t really love---- Charles Hamilton.Not long after that, Charles Hamilton joined the Army and died of illness in the war.So Scarlett had to act as a widow.Afterwards,at a donating dance party,Scarlett is acquainted with a captain named Rhett Butler. Then the flames of war approached Atlanta.Everyone was busy leaving away from the war.Scarlett managed to escape from Atlanta with the help of captain Rhett.Having come back to Tala manor,Scarlett made up her mind to rally her homeland at any cost when she saw that the former manor had been ruined.Later,her second husband died in the fight,she was a widow again.Durling that time, Rhett had been loving Scarlett sincerely and warmly.Seeing that Rhett could help her rally the manor,Scarlett married

The novel's protagonist, Scarlett O'Hara is the daughter of a planter, who is rich and standing in Georgia USA. Father Gerald is an Irish immigrant. Arriving in Georgia, Gerald is penniless but he wins the ownership of the manor of Tarot by gambling. After that, he began the venture in this red land, weaving his American Dream. Until 43 years old, he is married with the daughter named Ellen of a French immigrant in East Coast knot. Gerald is good-natured, but bad-tempered and the young wife has a good family education and strict moral values. She manages the day-to-day affairs of the estate as a whole on her own, even sets the black slaves to the doctor. Because of these, the couples get the respects from the white manor and won the love of the black slaves. Their daughter Scarlett is grown up in this environment.

Scarlett O’Hara

One of my friends had recommended the book Gone with the Wind almost two years’ ago, but my reading plan was just put off, for the book is really too thick and I even no courage to start. However, this semester I made my mind to read and I found myself was totally lost in the absorbing plots and the attractive characters the author portrayed. I was impressed by the war, the love and the hero Scarlett O’Hara, who would also be a charming and successful woman in today’s modern society, I think.

Scarlett is a dark-haired, green-eyed Georgia belle who struggles through the hardship of the Civil War and Reconstruction. She exhibits more of her father’s hard-headedness than her mother’s refined southern manners. Determination defines Scarlett and drives her to achieve everything she desires by any means necessary.

Having read the novel 《Gone With The Wind》 written by American writer Margaret Mitchell, I was deeply shocked. The novel, which Margaret spent about 10 years on, not only created a myth, but also show her own personal charm to the world. Novel's underground is based on the Civil War which happened in the United States, according to the changes of the Civil War starts the circumstances, so it has divided the macro history into micro history of personal experience. We can realize that misty thinking of Margaret through characters changes of people. My favorite character is Scarlett. Scarlett is a simple but very complex figure. This book was written during the American Civil War. Scarlett ,a beautiful girl with "bristling black eyelashes ",use to charm man. When I first read it, I did not like her. In my view ,she was a paradoxical human. She was hopelessly selfish,vain,manipulative,deluded and foolish,but she is also extremely vivacious,loyal and strong character.She had a strong will .whatever she thought she will try her best way to do it.

In the book,she always think she loves Ashley.and she believe that Ashley also loves her.Although at the end he leaves her unkindly,she never give up this thought.

But when I read it secondly.I find that she is just a lonely girl. during the Civil war , she has to make enough money to live with her lover and valentine. She pursuits but also ignore the true love . she regards Ashley as her true love but ignore Barrett who is always being with her.

Tomorrow is another day!-《飘》

读书破万卷，下笔如有神。当然，我没有达到那种程度，但我深感其中的乐趣，它就像是我的精神食粮。

初读《飘》是在英文版的翻译书上，简短的文字深深吸引着我，确切的说是斯佳丽的独特，瑞特的城俯与专一吸引了我。对于斯佳丽这一女主人公我很是喜欢。如今捧着厚重的《飘》细读起来，又是另一翻滋味。

因爱而恨，因恨而爱，斯佳丽像是一个矛盾的人。她，美丽大方活泼，深受男士的喜爱，可她自私，不择手段，为钱选择不喜欢的婚姻，抢走妹妹的未婚夫，这真令人厌恶。但她的顽强勇敢又让我敬佩。生活在动荡不安的乱世，一个女子面对衰落的家该如何是好。她不顾一切担起了养家活口的重担，情何以堪，那个社会亚特兰大的妇女只要出门便会遭到别人非议，然而她勇敢的担负着养家重担。她真可谓是不择手段，与黑人做生意，对于自己想要的不顾一切，对于自己拥有的不屑一顾。一开始认为她无可救要，可细细想来也是世道所逼，慢慢地喜欢上了她的这种特别。虽说经历了两次失败婚姻但她对阿希礼的爱从未变过，即便嫁给了深爱着她的瑞特，她仍忘不了阿希礼。这种坚持就像中国封建时代的女子对爱情的忠贞不愉。也许是上天的惩罚，等她失去了一切她才醒悟，自己爱的是瑞特，一切都成了过去式，但她坚信：Tomorrow is another day!她永远不会屈服于命运。

误打误撞，因她的与众不同，瑞特从此一心一意。他锐利，机智，果断，狡猾，深知为人处事之道，他的洒脱也深深吸引着我。尽管他是众人眼中的奸商，伪君子，但他勇敢执着专一，对斯佳丽他百依百顺，保护她，照顾她，希望她事事顺心，可都被斯佳丽拒绝，他一直耐心的等待，直到心爱的女儿离开时。他的心死了，他决定离开。

《飘》不仅让我见证了一段乱世中的爱情，我也被书中主人公深深感染。面对困难时斯佳丽的坚强、沉着、乐观都激励着我要不畏困难，瑞特的持之以恒也告诉我无论地球怎样转，时间怎样变，跟着自己的心走。做事就要一心一意，坚持不懈，学会等待。面对困难时，我们可以轻轻地告诉自己：“Tomorrow is another day!”张彬
