There are a lot of ways the people around us can help improve our lives. We don't bump into every neighbor, so a lot of wisdom never gets passed on, though we do share the same public spaces.

So over the past few years, I've tried ways to share more with my neighbors in public space, using simple tools like stickers, stencils and chalk. And these projects came from questions I had, like, how much are my neighbors paying for their apartments? (Laughter) How can we lend and borrow more things without knocking on each other's doors at a bad time? How can we share more of our memories of our abandoned buildings, and gain a better understanding of our landscape? And how can we share more of our hopes for our vacant storefronts, so our communities can reflect our needs and dreams today?

I want to tell you about my friend who was teaching English to adults in Abu Dhabi. And one fine day, she decided to take them into the garden to teach them some nature vocabulary. But it was she who ended up learning all the Arabic words for the local plants, as well as their uses -- medicinal uses, cosmetics, cooking, herbal. How did those students get all that knowledge? Of course, from their grandparents and even their great-grandparents. It's not necessary to tell you how important it is to be able to communicate across generations.

很久没有看过学校的节目了,在今年看到了《和田好声音》 首播,看后的感觉是节目制作的太棒了!

首先,这档节目的形式不同于一般的比赛,陈老师林老师两位学校知名音乐大腕们,不是以评委的身份,而是以导师身份出场出现在嘉宾席,表现的非常有水准,坦诚、认真,负责,激情而富有人情味;真诚为选手喝彩,对唯一一个落选的歌手,也给与了中肯的建议,选手们在这里得到了真诚平等的对待,再一次让我领略了音乐老师的艺术风采和人格魅力。

这当中,给我留下深刻印象的,是袁佳妤以及他们全家共同演唱的歌曲,他可能不是最优秀的,但绝对是最执着独特的的;这一切,为现场营造的气氛,热烈,生动、煽情,透明,高潮迭起,完美的几乎无懈可击。

通过这次活动,还拓展了许多小活动:舞台设计、乐器设计、好声音幕后的Hero……当然也让我们这些没有音乐细胞的人大包眼福,从最初的班级海选,同学们个个跃跃欲试;再到年纪海选,有人欢喜有人忧;学校120进40,大家坐在屏幕前目不转睛的看着;紧张而又激动的40进20,许多人遗憾落选;到最后的20进10.不管大家有没有晋级,我只想说,大家都是好样的,不管有没有晋级,大家都认真对待这次活动。

在这次活动中,我们也创建了自己的团队。队长蒋仕伟是团队的核心人物,他每次排练都是最早到最晚走,即使刮风下雨,也绝不

迟到。队员元铭宇是团队的开心果,他在我们遇到困难而发愁的时候,他总会想办法使我们忘记烦恼。我是队员负责团队材料支持,所有我们要用到的东西我都会提前准备好。我们三个人配合默契、团结一心,把一切困难抛到脑后。虽然我们止步在20强,但是我们十分高兴,我们的激情演唱获得了我校音乐老师的认可,给我们留下了宝贵的回忆,也圆了我们的舞台梦。《和田好声音》的活动永久印在我的心中。

When I was in my 20s, I saw my very first psychotherapy client. I was a Ph.D. student in clinical psychology at Berkeley. She was a 26-year-old woman named Alex.

我听说,在芝加哥有一所高中,那儿的学生毕业前要通过一系列课程,如果某一门课没有通过,成绩就是"暂未通过"。我想,这真是个绝妙的做法,因为,如果你某门课的成绩不及格,你会想,我什么都不是,我什么都没有学到。但如果你的成绩是"暂未通过",你会明白,学习的步伐并没有停下,你还需逐步向前,争取未来。

relationship with sound. And yet it's a skill that none of us are taught. For example, have you ever considered that there are listening positions, places you can listen from? Here are two of them. Reductive listening is listening "for." It reduces
