What?s your understanding of the slogan of Olympic Games “faster, higher and stronger”?
Hello, everyone, I?m very glad to stand here and give you a speech. As we?ve learned from the unit 5, our teacher Smiling share some famous slogans of the companies or products. And we group designed a slogan for a new brand “OMAGA” which got inspiration from Pork, is that “the sign of grandma”. How funny is it because we usually can get sth from those familiar ads.[?d] I like to call them ads because their goal is wanting us purchase them or just paying more attention to them. But today, what I want to discuss is one of the slogan frequently seen on the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. Dose anyone know what is it? Oh,yes “faster, higher and stronger”. I may be extend too much implications on it but from my own understanding, there are three keynotes on the slogan. The first one is faster. For it?s basic meaning in physic, it certainly refer to the speed of running, reacting, progressing and so on, which related to the sports. As for me, it contains the expectation of a faster development in our national economy because it is always a top priority when the politicians talk about the national plan. Without a higher economic level, we surly can not enjoy the welfare and decent life anymore, that?s why “higher” standing on the slogan. Higher not only means jump higher in the subject of high jump or hop skip and jump, but also assure the audiences that it?s a fantastic sport meeting on the foundation of higher level of referees and management mechanism. Remember the slogan into your heart, it can urge you to be a higher devoted girl. May be, china can scale up her influence highly in the international society. The last point is stronger. As the name implies, our bodies can become stronger through exercise. It?s hard to deny that Stronger is the desirable aim to a developing country. Even the biggest country USA wants to become more powerful. However, after searching the derivation of the slogan. I realize I really think too much on its meaning. It ?s not a Chinese invention but from a friend of Coubertin- named Didon, who advocating freedom and individuality in the Paris Catholic Church. He once said to his students that he want them to get closer to faster, higher and stronger which mean do one?s best on one?s own sphere. It has nothing to do with the national affairs. And the sentence was graved on the school lintels, which gradually apply to convey the enterprising spirit of struggle, undaunted ,vigorous and never-satisfied. Comparing with the slogan of the 2012 Olympic Games in London “Inspire a Generation”, they advocate the same concept is that to inspire athletes to do their best, and common people to do better in their daily lives. So, take this occasion, I hope everyone can squeeze your limited time to walk out of the dormitory and do some sport or just running on the tracts.”faster , higher and stronger” is not that advertising slogan to waste your money but give you direction to unleash potential.wish you all have a healthy mind and body, that?s all, thank you.
