------尊严与爱

《简爱》是一部带有自转色彩的小说，它告诉人们一个人生的真

谛。 《简爱》的作者夏洛蒂勃朗特温柔，清纯，喜欢追求一些美好的东西，尽管她家境贫穷，从小失去了母爱，再加上她身材矮小，容貌不出众，但也许就是这样一种灵魂深处的自卑，反映在她的性格上就是一种非

常敏感的自尊。她描写的简爱也是一个不美的，矮小的女人，但是她

有着极其强烈的自尊心。

简爱生存在一个寄人篱下的环境，从小就承受着与同龄人不一样

的待遇，姨妈的嫌弃，表姐的蔑视，表哥的侮辱和毒打......也许正是

因为这一切，换回了简爱无限的信心和坚强不屈的性格，一种可战胜

的内在人格力量. 她坚定不移地去追求一种光明的，圣洁的，美好的

生活。

在罗切斯特的面前，她从不因为自己是一个地位低贱的家庭教师

而感到自卑，反而认为他们是平等的。也正因为她的正直，高尚，纯

洁，心灵没有受到世俗社会的污染，使得罗切斯特为之震撼，并把她

看作了一个可以和自己在精神上平等交谈的人，并且深深爱上了她。 而当他们结婚的那一天，简爱知道了罗切斯特已有妻子时，她觉

得自己必须要离开，她虽然讲，“我要遵从上帝颁发世人认可的法律，

我要坚守住我在清醒时而不是像现在这样疯狂时所接受的原则”。但是从内心讲，更深一层的是简爱意识到自己受到了欺骗，她的自尊心受到了戏弄，因为她深爱着罗切斯特。但简爱做出了一个非常理性的决定。在这样一种爱情力量包围之下，在富裕的生活诱惑之下，她依然要坚持自己作为个人的尊严，这是简爱最具有精神魅力的地方。 小说设计了一个很光明的结尾－－虽然罗切斯特的庄园毁了，他自己也成了一个残废，但正是这样一个条件，使简爱不再在尊严与爱之间矛盾，而同时获得自己的尊严和真爱。

在当今社会，人们都疯狂地为了金钱和地位而淹没爱情。在穷与富之间选择富，而在爱与不爱之间选择不爱。很少有人会像简爱这样为爱情为人格抛弃所有，而且义无反顾。《简爱》所展现给我们的正是一种返朴归真，是一种追求全心付出的爱情，还有作为一个人应有的尊严。它犹如一杯冰水，净化每一个人的心灵。

Jane Eyre — A Beautiful Soul

Jane Eyre, is a poor but aspiring, small in body but huge in soul, obscure but self-respecting girl. After we close the covers of the book, after having a long journey of the spirit, Jane Eyre, a marvelous figure, has left us so much to recall and to think:

We remember her goodness: for someone who lost arms and blinded in eyes, for someone who despised her for her ordinariness, and even for someone who had hurt her deeply in the past.

We remember her pursuit of justice. It’s like a companion with the goodness. But still, a virtuous person should promote the goodneon one side and must check the badneon the other side.

We remember her self-respect and the clear situation on equality. In her opinion, everyone is the same at the God’s feet. Though there are differences in status、in property and also in appearance, but all the human being are equal in personality.

We also remember her striving for life, her toughneand her confidence…

When we think of this girl, what she gave us was not a pretty face or a

transcendent temperament that make us admire deeply, but a huge charm of her personality.

Actually, she wasn’t pretty, and of course, the ordinary appearance didn’t make others feel good of her, even her own aunt felt disgusted with it. And some others even thought that she was easy to look down on and to tease, so when MiIngram met Jane Eyre, she seemed quite contemptuous, for that she was obviously much more prettier than ‘the plain and ugly governess’. But as the little governehad said: ‘Do you think, because I am poor, obscure, plain, and little, I am soulleand heartless? You think wrong!’ This is the idea of equality in Jane Eyre’s mind. God hadn’t given her beauty and wealth, but instead, God gave her a kind mind and a thinking brain. Her idea of equality and self-respect impreus so much and let us feel the power inside her body.

In my mind, though a person’s beauty on the face can make others once feel that one is attractive and charming, if his or her mind isn’t the same beautiful as the

appearance, such as beauty cannot last for, when others find that the beauty which had charmed them was only a falsity, it’s not true, they will like the person no more. For a long time, only a person’s great virtue, a noble soul, a beautiful heart can be called as AN EVERLASTING BEAUTY, just as Kahill Gibran has said, that ‘Beauty is a heart enflamed and a soul enchanted’. I can feel that how beauty really is, as we are all fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleneor humbleness, but fleshly men, so we can’t distinguish whether a man is of nobleneor humbleness, but as

there are great differences in our souls, and from that, we can know that whether a man is noble or ordinary, and even obscure, that is, whether he is beautiful or not.

Her story makes us thinking about life and we learn much from her experience, at least, that is a fresh new recognition of the real beauty.
