Life of Pi

Life of Pi is an American 3D adventurous drama film directed by Ann Lee, a Taiwanese-born American film director. He wins the Academy Award for Best Director again for this film.《少年派的奇幻漂流》是一部3D美国冒险电影，由著名的台湾导演李安执导，他凭借该电影再一次获得奥斯卡最佳导演的殊荣。此前，他曾凭借《断背山》收获奥斯卡最佳导演奖。

Pi tells us two stories. One is about the drift between the young man and the tiger.少年派提供了两个故事供我们选择,一个是少年和老虎的漂流之旅；

The other one is that author concludes that cook have killed and ate the seaman, then killed Pi’s mother, eventually Pi killed the cook. The grown Pi didn’t declare against the conclusion.另一个是作家推断出来的厨子吃了水手，杀死妈妈，然后pi杀死了厨子并吃掉厨子的故事。成年pi没有否认小说家的推断。

Instead, he just asked the author that which story does he like. Grown Pi said the author believed in God after he got the answer.只是问他喜欢哪个故事，得知对方喜欢第一个故事时，成年pi说对方看见了上帝。

Pi was born in India .He believes in Christianity, Islam , and Hinduism at the same time.派生在印度，他同时信仰基督教，伊斯兰教和印度教。

As the son of a zookeeper, Pi has a special knowledge of animal behavior and a fervent love of stories. 作为动物园饲养员的儿子，派对动物的习性有一种特殊的了解，并对故事有强烈的热情。

When Pi is sixteen, his family emigrates from India to North America aboard a Japanese cargo ship, along with their zoo animals bound for new homes.当他16岁的时候，他们全家通过一艘日本货船从印度移民到了加拿大，与之同行的还有他们众多的动物。

The ship sinks. Pi’s family members were all dead.货船沉没了。派的家人都丧生大海。

He luckily fell on the lifeboat and survived, his only companions a hyena, an orangutan, a wounded zebra, and Richard Parker, a Bengal tiger. In the first 3 days, animals killed each other for food. the tiger was alive.只有他幸运地落在救生船里存活下来。他仅有的同伴就是一只鬣（lie）狗，一只猩猩，一只受伤的斑马和孟加拉虎理查德帕克。在接下来的三天，动物们为了食物自相残杀，只剩下老虎活下来。

Pi knew that he can't beat Richard, so he made the final choice to get along with Richard in the face of drift life. 派知道他无法打败帕克，所以他选择和帕克一起面对这场漂流。

In 7 months, he collected water, fish and shrimp, and used all the sea survival skills to feed the tiger, also to let himself down. 七个月后，派收集了水，鱼，小虾米，并用尽所有海洋求生的技能来饲养老虎帕克，同时也让帕克平静下来。

Soon the tiger has dispatched all but Pi, whose fear, knowledge, and cunning allow him to coexist with Richard Parker for 227 days while lost at sea. 很快老虎就响应起来，而被恐惧，智慧和精明包围的的派也开始允许自己与帕克共同在这场海难中生活227天。

When they finally reach the coast of Mexico, Richard Parker flees to the jungle,

never to be seen again.当他们最后终于到达墨西哥海滨的时候，帕克从船上跳下，在少年pi的注视下，帕克决绝得径直地走向森林入口，稍作停留，却不回头。

If the movie stop here, we will just regard it as an fantasy movie with dazzling visual effects like Avatar .But Lee is always beyond our expectation.

如果电影就此结束，那么我们仅仅会将此看做是一部像阿凡达一样令人眼花缭乱的可换特效电影。然而，李安总是超乎我们的想象。

The middle-aged Pi told the other edition of the adventure which he claimed to make up to persuade the people from the Insurance company : the lifeboat is with no animal, but a cook, a seaman with an broken leg, Pi and his mother. The cook killed and ate the seaman, then killed Pi’s mother, eventually Pi killed the cook.

然而真相却是：中年派向作家讲述另一个冒险的版本，他试图向保险公司掩饰，救生船上根本没有动物，而是一个厨师，一个断腿的水手，还有派和他的母亲。厨师杀死并吃掉了水手，然后又杀了派的母亲，最后派也杀了厨师。

The two stories have one thing in common: in the end only Pi survived. But looking back the reciprocating scenes and all details, it’s not hard to find the truth that the first story is the metaphor of the reality and the second one is the reality.

两个故事惟一的共同点就是：派是惟一的幸存者。但回顾繁琐的场景和细节，我们不难发现，第一个故事是现实的隐喻，第二个故事才是真的。

三条线索Three Clues

1、 Truth——Audiences argue greatly heat about the ending of the film, and everyone wants to the truly ending but Ann Lee doesn’t give a clear answer but says he leaves the ending to audiences.关于电影的结尾，观众的争论很激烈，每个人都想知道真正的结局是什么，但导演李安却含糊其辞，只说把结局留给观众。

2、 Courage——We must have the courage to face difficulties and got on well with each other.我们必须有勇气去面对困难，彼此相处的很好。

3、 Faith信仰——Do you think the God is looking at you anytime?你认为神无时不刻的在关注着你？

Everyone has a Bengal tiger in his mind.

We suspect all the good things in the life , and refused to recognize the brutal reality .This is a revelation from the movie “life of Pi”,which was adapted from Jan Martel’s popular novel of the same name.The film was directed by Hollywood Chinese director An Lee, which tells a story that a juvenile and a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker drifting at sea for 227 days . The director used 3D to show the fantastic scene in his mind.With a lot of description about the wonders , such as shipwrecks, storms, Pacific night, islands, and all kinds of birds and beasts,the film take the audience into another amazing world. When the actor Pi and the Bengal tiger drifting under the starry night of Pacific ocean ,The harmony between sea and sky is more beautiful, the audience's loneliness is more outstanding .And the real sense brought by the high quality of 3D is stronger,the sense of isolation from the real world is more intense.

All in all, as soon as the film was shown in the cinema,it pulled in large numbers of audience.
