新托福预测写作Task 2高分范文:move to a new city
09.10.31NA
Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is often not a good idea to move to a new city or a new country because you will lose old friends.
Sample answer( 5 paragraphs, 363 words)
With the rapid development of technologies, the process of globalization is progressing quickly. People have become more likely to move to another city or country in pursuit of their goals. Some people contend that it is a bad idea to move to a new place because those who relocate lose their current friends. I strongly disagree with this statement for several reasons.
People who move to new locations do not need to lose their friends, as they can take advantage of technologies in most countries to keep in touch. People can use numerous means of making contact, including telephone, e-mail, and online chat software. These technologies easily allow one to maintain relationships. For example, my family moved from Hengyang to Changsha several years ago due to my parents’ work assignment. Since our move, I have preserved my relationships with my old friends in Hengyang by chatting online; we even see each other often through video conferencing. In addition, as
the transportation system has expanded quickly, it is very convenient for me to take trips to visit my old friends now and then.
Furthermore, moving to new places broadens people’s horizons, supporting their personal development. By traveling internationally, one can gain a better understanding of various customs, histories, religions, and cultures. With a broad view, people become more optimistic and active. My uncle, for example, used to be very shy and unsure of his purpose when he was young; he became much more confident and positive after he finished his undergraduate program abroad. He has always said that his four years of campus life abroad changed his way of looking at life.
Though technologies allow people to connect with old friends at a distance, they do have some disadvantages. For instance, when friends who live in different cities cannot communicate face to face, they may have unnecessary misunderstandings and disagreements. Despite these challenges, I insist that it is not bad to move to other places, given the enormous benefits that relocating can bring.
In conclusion, people who move to new cities and countries should not worry about losing their friends, as technological advancements can secure their relationships and moving can offer them great benefits.

There is no way one can avoid criticism from other people. Criticism is very natural as most people can see the world only from their point of view. Hence they are unable to see the holistic picture of the world and the need for diversity. If a person does not know how to handle criticism from other members of a team, he/she may tend to react negatively towards them, and his/her work performance is not likely to be successful.
While working in a team, you can not be sure that your opinions, decisions or approaches are always correct, and in many cases you will need to accept criticism from other members who will point out your mistakes and direct you towards the right course of action. In sports, for example, especially in team sports such as football or basketball, any one player, no matter how skillful or experienced this player is,
will make mistakes during a game, sometimes even “deadly ones”. And when criticisms pour in after the game, from team members, the coach, or team fans, the best strategy is not to run away or find excuses to avoid these criticisms, but to listen to and accept their criticisms, take their advice, and try hard to improve the next time.
Other times, you may occasionally be misinterpreted, misjudged, and therefore unfairly criticized, but in a friendly work environment, these criticisms are often made out of good will. So in these cases it may be helpful that you listen carefully to what others say and try to understand their points of view, instead of reacting aggressively towards them, which may harm team relationship in the long run. I think we all have seen, in real life or on a TV program, a situation where two people started yelling at each other only because one thinks the other is intentionally finding fault. But often this is due to a simple misunderstanding or miscommunication. A successful team player would first of all stay calm, summarize the other person’s perspective, then find out the root of such misunderstanding, and finally resolve the conflict.
Criticism, especially if it seems unjustified, can be painful and cause a defensive reaction, but a truly successful team player will face criticism with patience and professionalism, and turn it into a constructive force towards final success.

Sample answer
Teamwork has become an important part of the working culture. Most companies now realize the importance of teamwork because in our modern world many tasks are becoming increasingly complex that they require a team with multiple skills to complete. But is it true that every member in the team should have the same opinion in order to achieve success? From my point of view, most of the time, a team consisting of divergent opinions are more likely to succeed.
As we all know, it is not practical to expect everyone in a team to have the same point of view, because everyone is a different individual who has his or her own personality and ideas due to different backgrounds. However, often such differences in opinions can be resolved after sufficient discussion and especially after coordination by a team leader. I once joined a football team back in high school. Every time before a football match, team members would sit together and discuss strategies in order to defeat our opponent in the next game. Often in such discussion many different voices can be heard: Some
members advocate offense but others emphasize defense. The team leader, the captain of our team, who is a very experienced football player, often played a very important role. He would make the final decision on team deployment, and his strategy always balanced offense with defense. Under his leadership, our team had won four championships in the school football league.
Furthermore, even if different opinions cannot be resolved, it does not mean a team will fail, because sometimes difference in opinions will lead to some bright thoughts and creative ideas. In a company, for example, the majority of team members, because of company tradition or routine, are often confined to a stereotyped view and they would tend to agree with each other passively. But the best ideas often come after heated discussion among team members, who hold different or even conflicting views. So they need someone different, someone who can say no to the old practice, to generate innovative ideas and achieve important breakthroughs.
In a word, having the same opinion or attitude to the issue is not a guarantee of successful team work. Indeed, we can learn a lot from the different views, as long as the team has a definite aim and is led by an experienced team leader.
