摘要
本文在研究大量中外商标词的基础上提出了适用于商标翻译的策略原则。根据尤金?奈达提出的“功能对等”的原则,本文介绍了四种翻译方法:音译;意译;音译和意译的结合译法以及创造性译法。总体来看,本文审视了英汉商标词翻译的现状,在原有理论的基础上提出并总结了一系列的翻译原则与方法。指出在翻译过程中贴切得体地传递商标词内在的文化信息不仅可以准确地反映出商品的质量特征,同时又可引发消费者的文化联想,对商品的销售产生广告效应,并起到对民族文化的宣传作用。

Abstract
Based on large amounts of brand names at home and abroad, this thesis first introduces some theories acceptable for brand name translation. According to E. A. Nida’s “functional equivalence” theory, this thesis presents four translation techniques: transliteration, literal translation, combination and creative translation. Then this thesis generally introduces some elementary knowledge of brand names. Next, based on the original theories of brand name translation, it puts forward theories acceptable for brand name translation and advances four translation approaches. When brand names are translated from Chinese into English, an appropriate transmission of cultural messages can not only accurately reflect the product’s quality, but arouse the customer’s cultural association so as to create the expected advertising effect and help publicize that particular culture.
