A few years ago, Molly was badly attacked by a dog.The dog bit all four of Molly?s legs and left large cuts in her face. Molly's owner, Kaye Harris, took her to an animal hospital.Doctors there were able to save Molly?s life, but soon one of her legs became very infected(感染).

Kaye Harris took Molly to the false leg center. There were children there who, like Molly, had artificial arms or legs. They were amazed to see a pony with a false leg. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths.

It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend(超越) it. Once we truly know that life is difficult---once we truly

understand and accept it---then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters.

Most do not fully see this truth. Instead they complain about their

problems and difficulties as if life should be easy. It seems to them that

difficulties represent a special kind of suffering especially forced upon them or else upon their families, their class, or even their nation. What makes life difficult is that the process of facing and solving

problems is a painful one. Problems, depending on their nature, cause us sadness, or loneliness or regret or anger or fear. These are uncomfortable feelings, often as painful as any kind of physical pain. And since life causes an endless series of problems, life is always difficult and is full of pain as well as joy.

Yet, it is in this whole process of solving problems that life has its

meaning. Problems are the serious test that tells us success from failure. When we desire to encourage the growth of human spirit, we encourage the human ability to solve problems, just as in school we set problems for our children to solve. It is through the pain of meeting and working out problems that we learn. As Benjamin Franklin said, those things that hurt, instruct. It is for this reason that wise people learn not to fear but to welcome the pain of problems.

60. From the passage, it can be inferred that ______.

A. everybody has problems

B. we become stronger by meeting and solving the problems of life

C. life is difficult because our problems bring us pain

D. people like to complain about their problems

61. The writer probably used just one short sentence in the first paragraph to ______.

A. save space B. persuade readers

C. make readers laugh D. get readers? attention

62. The main idea of Paragraph 3 is that ______.

A. most people feel life is easy B. the writer feels life is easy

C. the writer likes to complain about his problems

D. most people complain about how hard their lives are

63. According to the passage, we give school children difficult problems to solve in order to______.

A. encourage them to learn B. teach them to fear the pain of solving the problem

C. help them learn to deal with pain D. teach them how to respect from problems

A Hollywood movie was met with an awkward situation last Saturday in China. While fans are standing in long queues to watch the first show, others are advocating a boycott(抵制) on the American movie with Chinese story elements.

After "Kung Fu Panda", a cartoon movie telling about a panda?s Kung Fu master journey, hit China?s silver screens in 2008, its sequel(续集), Kung Fu Panda 2, was released in China just ahead of International Children?s Day, adding more Chinese elements such as shadow play(皮影戏) and lion dancing.

However, some Chinese artists and scholars argue that the movie has twisted(扭曲) Chinese culture and serves as a tool to "kidnap(绑架)" the mind of the Chinese people.

“Children?s Day should be pure. Don?t turn it into a money-making day for Hollywood, and don? t fool our next generation with American fast food,” according to an open letter to Chinese cinema managers written by Zhao Bandi, an artist hoping to boycott the “Americanized” movie. His move is Chinese language with Beijing University, who said Chinese elements

have become advertising products to advocate American culture. "It is a cultural invasion," said Kong.

In the movie, the main character called “Po,” a panda, is talkative, humorous, lovely, and is widely believed to be a typical American figure. However, the panda has won millions of fans in China. On China?s most popular website, comments on the movie reached nearly 270 million entries.

“I won?t call it a cultural invasion,” said Li Jiayi, a Beijing university student. “I see nothing bad for others to use our cultural elements to make a movie. I? m a huge fan of Po. In spite of being a cartoon, it is still loved by many adults like me,” said the 25-year-old after watching the first show at midnight.

Cao Hui, general manager of Shenzhen Global Digital Creations

company, said: “instead of a?boycott?, movie producers should learn from the movie to make better use of Chinese story elements. Technically, Kung Fu Panda is not more advanced than Chinese movies, but as for story telling skills, Chinese movies have a long way to go”.

68. Some artists and scholars are against "Kung Fu Panda" because they think_____.

A. it has added too many Chinese elements

B. it has ruined Chinese image deliberately

C. it is an exact copy of Chinese culture

D. it is advertising American culture

69. What does the underlined word “backed” in the fourth paragraph mean?

A. supported B. criticized C. released D. resisted

A. American movies have a better skill in telling stories than Chinese ones.

D. American movies are better at using foreign elements to attract eyes.

Every baby born a decade from now will have its genetic code(基因编码)mapped at birth, the head of the world?s leading genome

sequencing(基因组测序)company has predicted.

A complete DNA read-out for every newborn will be technically possible and affordable in less than five years, promising a revolution in

healthcare, says Jay Flatley, the chief executive of Illumina.Only social and legal problems are likely to delay the age of“genome sequences”,or genetic profiles.By 2019 it will have become routine to map infants?genes when they are born,Dr Flatly told The Times.

This will open a new approach to medicine,by which conditions such as high blood pressure and heart disease can be predieted and prevented and drugs used more safely and effectively.

A baby?s genome can be discovered at birth by a blood test.By

examining a person?s genome.it is possible to identify raised risks of developing diseases such as cancers. Those at high risk can then be screened more regularly,or given drugs or dietary advice to lower their chances of becoming ill.

Personal genomes could also be used to ensure that patients get the medicine that is most likely to work for them and least likely to have side-effects.

The development, however, will raise legal concerns about privacy and access to individuals?genetic records.

“Bad things can be done with the genome. It could prediet something about someone — you could possibly hand the information to their employer or their insurance company.”said Dr Flatley.

“and that your genome probably can?t be protected, because everywhere you go you leave your genome behind.Complete genetic privacy, however,is unlikely to be possible,”he added.

As the benefits become clearer, however,he believes that most people will want their genomes read and interpreted. The risk is nothing compared with the gain.

72.In the first two paragraphs, the author mainly wants to tell us about .

A.the significant progress in medicine B.the promise of a leading company

C.the information of babies?genes D.the research of medical scientists

73.Which of the following is a problem caused by this approach?

A.The delaying in discovering DNA.

B.The risk of developing diseases at birth.

C.The side-effects of medicine on patients.

D.The letting out of personal genetic information.

74.What does the underlined sentence“…this horse is out of the barn”mean?

A.Genetic mapping technique has been widely used.

B.Genetic mapping technique is too horrble to control.

C.People are eager to improve genetic mapping technique.

D.People can?t stop genetic mapping technique advancing.

75.What?s Dr Flatley?s attitude towards the technology?

A.Bearable. B.Pessimistic. C.Positive. D.Doubtful. 第四部分 写作(共两节,满分35分)

第一节 任务型读写(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分)

认真阅读下列短文,并根据所读内容在文章后表格中的空格里填入恰当的词。注意 :每个空格只填一个单词。

What is e-learning? E-learning is essentially the computer and

network--enabled transfer of skills and knowledge, whose content is delivered via the internet, audio or video tape, satellite TV, and CD-ROM.

E-learning dates back to the early 1960s when Stanford University

psychology professor Patrick Suppes experimented with using computers to teach math. As early as 1997 William D Graziadei published an article which described developing an overall strategy for technology-based course development and management for an educational system. Today people are using many technologies in e-learning, blogs and virtual classrooms included.

There are different types of e-learning that are available. Some

educational experts suggest that different types or forms of e-learning can be considered as a continuum, from no e-learning, i.e. no use of

computers or the Internet for teaching and learning, through classroom aids, such as making classroom lecture Power Point slides available to students and trough a course website, to laptop programs, where students are required to bring laptops to class and use them as part of a

face-to-face class, to mixed learning, where classroom time is reduced but

not eliminated, with more time devoted to online learning, to fully online learning, which is a form of distance education.

Due to the effectiveness of e-learning methods, this type of learning methodology is rapidly popular among schools. By 2006, 3.5 million students had participated in learning courses through the Internet at institution of higher education in the United States. Allen and Seamen claim that almost a quarter of all students in post-secondary education were taking fully online courses in 2008, and a report by Ambient Insight Research suggests that in 2009, 44 percent of post-secondary students in the USA were taking some or all of their courses online, and some professors predicted that this figure would have been doubled by 2014. Thus it can be seen that e-learning is moving rapidly from the margins to being a predominant form of post-secondary education.

E-learning has created a new paradise in education and it has greatly complemented our traditional methods and thus it has brought students a lot of advantages. We expect much more growth in adoption of it in schools.

Dear Li Ming,

I am sorry to hear that you have been ill for days and hope you are better now. You have studied so hard that you have had no time for exercise, which is harmful to your health. I feel it would be more beneficial to your health if you could take more exercise in future.

Taking exercise can improve your physical health and refresh your mind. After one or two hours of exercise you can study better. Only when you have a strong body can you keep on studying without feeling tired. Otherwise your study will be interrupted from time to time by the sickness.

Exercise is as useful and important as your study. I hope you can take at least one hour?s exercise every day after you?ve recovered.

With best wishes!
