Introduction:

Enjoy the journey with a skilled guide would be an amazing experience. And Lonely Planet is such an ideal tour guide. Nowadays, it has become the most popular guidebook publisher; one in five guidebooks bought globally is from Lonely Planet. How can two travelers make a homemade guidebook become a world-famous brand?

Thesis: Professional attitude and independent spirit are chief factors in Lonely Planet’s success.

Preview: In 40 years, Tony and Maureen Wheeler successfully keep at professional attitude and independent spirit. They made Lonely Planet the most popular travel guidebooks in the world.

I. Professional attitude

Topic: Blood donation

General purpose: Conversion

Specific purpose: To convince listeners that blood

donation is quite important.

Thesis: The reason why we need to donate blood

Introduction

I. Attention-getting device: (raise a question to everyone first.) First, I’d like to ask you a question. Have you ever donated blood? If you answer is yes, you did a really good decision. If you are not, I hope you will have a try next time after my speech.

Transition: how many people have ever donated blood? II. Thesis: The reason why we need to donate blood.

III. Preview: By showing our country is in urgent need of blood donation and need you young people to save the country and at the same time donator can benefits a lot from it which can somehow prevent you from some diseases.

Body

I. There is no substitute for blood

A. People are the only source. It is reported that over 3,000 donations are needed every week.

B. Without blood, some patients having surgery or cancer treatment would not survive.

C. Each donation can help the recovery of up to three patients in hospital. So when you donate blood, you give a second chance at life to someone unknown to you.

II. It’s also good for you.

A. Blood donation can accelerate the metabolic process. In patients prone to iron overload, blood donation prevents the accumulation of toxic quantities.

B. Studies have shown that donating blood regularly can be beneficial for the heart and circulatory system and can reduce the risk of heart diseases, especially among young people.

C. Blood donation also burns the extra calories and reduces your cholesterol level.

Transition: As shown by many advantages, blood donation is also beneficial to us.

III.Some people dare not to donate blood, because they are afraid of the pain.

A. Actually, the procedure is not so painful, and even if you feel a bit tired after it, you will recover within an hour or two, with some rest and juice and snacks.

B. After donating, you will get cookies

IV.Under these conditions, people are not allowed to

donate

A. If you have a chesty cough, you are not allowed to donate blood.

B. If you are extremely short-sighted, you are not allowed to donate blood.

C. If you have a sore throat or active cold, you are not allowed to donate blood.

Transition: Not everyone is suited to donate blood.

Conclusion

I. Summary: Blood donation gives a proud feeling of touching someone’s life in such a beautiful way. II. Action step: It’s an experience that no words can define. You have to find out by yourselves.

III. Closure: At last, I want to say, please do donate blood, for society and foe yourself.
